Join us next Wednesday, May 16th, from 4-11pm at Villa Maya for some sizzling fajitas or other delicious Mexican cuisine. They will donate 15% (credit card) or 20% (cash) of your purchase when you tell the server that you're there to support the OES PTA. No flyer needed. Villa Maya is located in the Safeway shopping center off Norbeck Road in Rockville.

OES Staff Appreciation Week

Please join us in showing our hardworking OES staff how grateful we are for all that they do. Here are some ways your family can contribute.

Tuesday/Thursday: Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to help with our Staff Appreciation breakfast and lunch. Please don't forget to drop your items off at the scheduled time or make arrangements with one of our coordinators. We still have a few open slots for both meals. If you're able to help, please sign up using these links: Breakfast or Lunch.

Wednesday: Have your child take a few minutes to create a hand-made card for his/her teacher thanking him/her for all the special things he/she does each day! Cards should be delivered to teachers in their classrooms this Wednesday, May 9th. Please also remember all the other wonderful staff who make our school so special (Specials teachers, cafeteria staff, principals, counselors, building services, health room, office staff, etc.).

FIELD DAY 2018

Hello parents,

We are excited for FIELD DAY 2018! See below for details.

Please ensure you have completed the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect training if you wish to volunteer: http://www.montgomeryschools md.org/childabuseandneglect/#Volunteer

Grades K-2: Tuesday, May 29

Grades 3-5: Thursday, May 31

Rain date: June 7

Morning stations will start at 9:25 and will end at 11:35. Relay races in the afternoon will start around 2:30 and will last until about 3:00. We only need help for the morning stations. We will need your help from 8:50-11:45.

If you have a hand-held hole punch and/or a stop watch, please bring them. We may also be reaching out for popsicle donations so keep a look-out for that. We would love for our kids to have a little treat to cool down after a day of fun and fitness!

Your child will be receiving a volunteer form, but it also is available electronically if that is more convenient for you:

Spring PARCC Testing

If you have a child in grades 3-5, please take a minute to view the schedule for the state mandatory Spring PARCC testing. Students who are absent during their class will still be required to complete the PARCC during makeup sessions. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Tinney at Michael_J_Tinney@mcpsmd.org.

Attention 5th Grade Parents

The 5th Grade Memories Committee is collecting photos for a video to be played at the graduation ceremony. If you wish to have your child in the video, please send high quality photographs of your child participating in school sponsored events from kindergarten through 5th grade such as the first day of school, kindergarten orientation, bus stop, school family nights, fun run, class parties, cultural arts assemblies, science fair, field trips, etc. Photos must be received by May 18th in order to be included in the video. Please email photos to: oes5thgradememories2018@gmail.com.

Our 5th Grade Memories Committee also has a web page where you can find important information about the end-of-year activities. We'll be updating the page as additional information becomes available so please check back regularly.
