Explanation of our Odour Control solution! What does Odour Control Man products do in their day to day application?

The Odour Control Man Pads work in two ways.

• First, they absorb moisture and the microbes that move around on it in the air. Once absorbed into

the pad, the microbes will be killed. (in smaller areas, the reduction in moisture will also inhibit

the growth of microbes)

• Second, and most importantly to the health system, the oils are released from the pad into the air

as a micro mist, it cannot be seen. They will stay suspended in air for several hours. Any microbe

that the oils contact will be killed by the oil mixture.

• The oil mixture will then settle onto surfaces and kill any microbes it comes into contact with on

these surfaces. The surfaces include walls, floors, bench tops, taps, as well as the hard to get

places for cleaning which can act as “reservoirs” for the microbes.

The Vapour Odour Eliminator (VOE) system works by the second point only. It only releases the

oil mixture into the air.

• What occurs over time, is that with continued application and release of the oils, the

environmental load of microbial pathogens will be reduced. The reduction of the amount of

microbes will reduce patient and staff exposure and in turn reduce the rates of HAIs and their

associated costs.

The Science of Our Technology

The patented design of the technology ensures continued and on- going odour control. The

technology behind our system was initiated over 25 years ago. The scientist who was eventually

credited with the invention became fascinated when he observed that when essential oils were

diffused into the environment, emissions and odours were reduced. Inspired by this finding,

further evidence showed that the odours were not just masked but permanently removed. The

result was a set of specialized formulations that neutralize a wide spectrum of organic and

inorganic odour problems efficiently and permanently. These patented formulations have been

scientifically engineered to be environmentally safe. Manufactured under strict quality controls,

the components of our systems are generally recognized as common in the food and odour

industry and have a long history of safety throughout the world.

The Vapour Odour Eliminator automatically omits the odour mechanism into the air to eliminate the

airborne odours by using a unique odour attachment characteristic which is proven to neutralize a wide

Introduction

GFS Bio Protect™ Hand Sanitizer is a unique antimicrobial technology that not only kills

microorganisms on contact, but also has persistent activity designed to help prevent infections in

a wide variety of venues from healthcare to food service and everywhere in between.

The core of the technology lies in a highly effective proprietary blend of quaternary amines in a

revolutionary film forming formulation that is highly effective in environments with specific issues

of antibiotic resistant pathogens and frequent glove use is involved. The antimicrobial agents are

compliant with FDA regulations and CDC guidelines for non-alcohol hand sanitizer products. Safe,

water-based and alcohol-free, it is faster acting and longer lasting than traditional hand sanitizers.

The following is a brief summary of testing and qualifications.

Efficacy Testing:

Rapid Broad Spectrum Kill

GFS Bio Protect™ Hand Sanitizer was effective at killing more than 99.99% (>99.99%) of FDA (25

specified) test organisms in 15 seconds, using Quantitative Suspension Test methods. A total of

45 different bacteria, fungi and viruses have been effectively killed in testing by GFS hand

sanitizer products, and for active ingredients the kill list is even longer.

Healthcare Hand Rub Efficacy Testing (EN 1500)

The FDA requires hand sanitizers to be tested on actual hands to prove real world performance.

EN 1500 testing was chosen, as it is the European standard method for qualifying hand rubs used

in healthcare facilities employing 20 test subjects. To be EN 1500 compliant a test product must

exceed efficacy of a reference alcohol. GFS Bio Protect™ Hand Sanitizer has passed the testing

exceeding efficacy of reference alcohol.

Long Term Sustained Activity

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the CDC recommends "persistent" antiseptics for hand

anitizers. Persistent activity is defined as the prolonged or extended antimicrobial activity that

prevents or inhibits the proliferation or survival of microorganisms after application of the

product.

Extended Protection

In an ex-vivo test using pigskin model (using ASTM E2897-12 & ASTM WK36911); GFS Bio

Protect™ Hand Sanitizer was applied to the skin. After the specified amount of time, the skin

samples were challenged with S. aureus. Testing was performed at 2 minutes with >99.9% kill and

sustained kill of 99.9% was shown at 1 hour, 98.3% at 2 hours, 96.9% at 4 hours, 84.9% at 8 hours,

79.5 % at 16 hours and 54% at 24 hours.

Sustained Activity When Gloves are utilized

To access persistent activity on hands when used in clinical settings ASTM Test method E1115- 11

was used with 20 human volunteers. Immediate activity results demonstrated that bacterial

reduction of hand flora after using the product was greater than a 5.8 Log10 reduction factor.

Persistent activity suppressing regrowth of skin bacteria was shown to be in the same order of

magnitude (5.8 Log10) at 3 hours, 6 hours and even at 12 hours after product application 99.99 %

(4.0 Log10) with hands kept occluded within surgical gloves.

BF Spill Compound Commercial

The BF Spill Compound used for industrial applications is the same as the domestic product. Body Fluid

Spill Compound (BFSC) is a simple to use fluid absorption powder which contains the ONC (Odour

Neutralising Compound).

BFSC will absorb fluid and eliminate any odours associated with the fluid. BFSC, in practical day to day

usage, can easily absorb at least 5 times its weight in fluid. However the product does have the ability to

absorb well in excess of this amount.

BFSC is simply poured over the spill and once the fluid is absorbed, the compound can be swept up and

disposed of. The product can be used on both hard and carpeted floors. BFSC is available in 220g

pouches, 900g jars or for more regular use 10Kg pails. The spill compound is ideal for all fluid spills, but

is particularly efficient on:

• Vomit

• Diarrhoea

• Urine

• Blood

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do the products last?

When you initially apply the product, the essential oils are quite strong however as the product is released and

begins to neutralise the odour within the room the essential oils and unwanted odour will dissipate. The product

is still working. When the undesirable odour returns it is time to reapply. This usually occurs between 2 to 4

weeks.

The time required before reapplication depends on 3 three main factors:

� The amount of odour - Strong odour requires frequent re-application

� The size of the area being treated - Larger area requires larger quantities of Odour Control

� The amount of air moving through the area - Efficient airflow requires frequent re-application

What should I do if I do not get the desired result?

This means that the odours in a given area are being produced faster than the products ability to absorb and

eliminate them. You may need to apply extra pads or switch to a stronger product such as our Vapour Odour

Eliminator. If you are still having odour issues, contact us to discuss the problem. We have a variety of products

which may be more suited to your particular problem.

Can I use the products for applications other than those listed?

Yes. Our suggested applications are the more common and so have been used successfully for the applications

listed. The range of uses is only limited by your willingness to try our Odour Control Pads to solve any odour and

fluid problems you may have. If you wish to use for another application, we suggest that you trial the use at a

time where you can adjust the application if required.

Are all the products the same?

No. Each product has the same ingredients however the proportion of the ingredients change depending on

what we are trying to achieve. All products have the ability to eliminate odours and absorb fluids but some

products have been designed as an odour eliminator. These products will do this more effectively, faster and for

longer than a product that is designed for fluid absorption. Products designed for fluid absorption will be more

effective than odour elimination.

What is the shelf life of the products?

A minimum of 12 months and unopened product should still be functional after this time. The products must be

stored out of direct sunlight, within low humidity and low temperature area in the packaging provided. The

packaging must be resealed properly after use. The flexible packs have been specially manufactured to ensure

product longevity; other types of plastic packaging cannot be used.

Age Care Facility

Salford Aged Care (Melbourne, Australia) are saving about $3500 a year compared to the auto sprayers in the first

year and in the second year saving of $4500 (pad holders are a once off purchase). The maintenance manager

has saved on time management; replacing cartridges and batteries in auto sprayer has taken up to 8hrs compared

with 1.5 hrs replacing pads in pad holders.

The system that was implicated: Double odour control pads in a double pad holder, close to ventilation and air-

conditioning unit to allow flow through the hallways. Salford had 60 auto sprayers and we installed 60 pad

holders.

As a result Salford has said:

Trial within a High Dependency Aged care facility

The occupant suffers from incontinence, complete immobility and incontinence pads are worn by the resident

however they do not address the odour. An Odour Control Pad was placed under a lifting chair which is located

in corner of room near the bed in a room that is usually closed for security purposes. The smell tends to be

localized. The resident was then removed for a meal break for about thirty minutes and the door to the unit

remained shut. On return to the room, an evident reduction in urine and faecal odour was instantly obvious.
