1952 Chevrolet Deluxe

Owned by Jim and Elizabeth Haas

This car was originally purchased by my Grandfather Joe Jagers-burger in June of 1952. Joe Jagersburger (Racine Joe) designed the RAJO cylinder head which is installed on this car. My Grand-father passed away in October of 1952.

My Father drove the car through the 50s and into the early 60s. At which me he parked it behind his drug store in Racine.

My Sister then used the car for a number of years and then it was again parked behind the drug store.

My parents gave the car to me in 1970. It was not running at that me. I learned how to work on the car and was able to get it back on the road again. I drove the car into the mid 70s.

When we purchased our first home in West Allis, WI in October 1979, I put it in storage in our garage.

In the early 80s we moved the car to a storage facility in Jeffer-son as we had just started our family and business and did not have the me or the money to work on the car.

Over the years, I gradually collected parts and pieces to restore the car. In April of 2010 I said to Elizabeth that I think that it is me to have the car restored. I had the car taken to Street-works in Waukesha. They began the restoraon in the fall of 2010. The restoraon was completed in August of 2014, just in me for the Masterpiece Show that year. Since having the car restored it has been to numerous car shows throughout the area

Waukesha Old Car Club Regular Meeng August 10, 2015

The meeng was called to order, members all rose and said the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Officers and Board members were introduced. There were no new members or guests at the meeng.

President’s Report: Jerry Kawatski reported that we had a number of medical emergencies this year at the car show which is unusual, in fact, there were three very close together which made it confusing for the first responders. For next year, we will have beer procedures in place to deal with these types of problems. There were no reported problems with the food tent or the beer tent areas. In fact, we sold out of most food items, and items that were not thawed or opened were able to be sent back to the supplier.

Vice President’s Report: Steve Heinemann reported that due to the number of medical emergencies that occurred at the car show this year he will be updang the EMERGENCY PROCEDURE for next year.

Treasurer’s Report: Jim Young was not at the meeng. Therefore there was no treasurer’s report.

Secretary’s Report: Mel Stark read the minutes from the July meeng. The minutes were approved as read.

Commiee Reports

Sunshine Commiee: Kathy Jones reported that her mother-in-law, Audrey Jones, who was a long me member of the Waukesha Old Car Club had passed away that morning. Visitaon is planned for Thursday with burial on Friday.

Picnic and Aucon: Tom Garibaldi talked about the upcoming picnic and aucon. He asked for a show of hands of those who had not aended the picnic and aucon in the past. There were only a few members who had not previously aended. He said that everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass, the club provides the meat, beverages and condiments. Members bring their trash and treasures from their garage and basements to be auconed off with the proceeds going to charity. Every year Nancy Kelly donates a hand painted porcelain doll that is auconed off with the proceeds going to the charity of Nancy’s choice. The club matches the total amount of money raised at the aucon.

Other Business

Mark Oravetz talked about the Racine 4th of July Parade. He said the parade is one of the largest in the country and receives a huge audience and is covered by one of the local television staons. Each year the parade gets larger. The parade route is approxi-mately 2.5 miles. They put all the show cars at the beginning of the parade so they are able to complete the route at a slow pace without stopping which prevents the vehicles from overheang. He is looking for addional club members to join him at this event. For more informaon contact Mark @ 262-598-0478.

Waukesha Old Car Club Regular Meeng August 10, 2015

The meeng was called to order, members all rose and said the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Officers and Board members were introduced. There were no new members or guests at the meeng.

President’s Report: Jerry Kawatski gave a brief treasurer’s report in Jim Young’s absence. He said that the profits from the car show were down this year, not bad, but not as good as some years. He said that the city was giving the club a break on the park rental because of the problems with the bathrooms. The board is evaluang changing the date of the August Car Show from the second Sunday to the third Sunday in August so as not to conflict with the Watertown Riverfest Car Show

Vice President’s Report: Steve Heinemann had nothing to report.

Treasurer’s Report: Jim Young was not at the meeng. Therefore the President gave the Treasurer’s report.

Secretary’s Report: Mel Stark read the minutes from the September meeng. The minutes were approved as read.

Commiee Reports

Sunshine Commiee: had nothing to report, however, one of the members said that Victor Perugini had fallen off a ladder and had injured himself prey seriously.

Picnic and Aucon: Tom Garibaldi talked about the upcoming picnic and aucon. It will be September 20 at Neshiem Park in Pewaukee. Everyone brings a dish to pass and items to be auconed off. The club matches the amount of money raised and the proceeds are donated to a Waukesha charity.

Halloween Party: Len Li talked about the upcoming Halloween Party on October 31 at the Eagles Club on Grandview Blvd in Waukesha. He has ckets to sell or ckets can be purchased at the door. Tickets are $6.00. He had to open the party up to the pub-lic to sell enough ckets to cover the cost of the event. The event will be 7:00 to 11:00pm. There will be cash prizes for the best costume. Music will be provided by Freddy and the Cruisers. He has flyers available at the table in the back of the room.

Fall Jefferson: Len Li talked abut Fall Jefferson. It will be September 25-27. As always, any member is welcome to sell under the club tent. To deter the cost of the space rental, the club charges members $10.00 to sell under the tent. Because they have had problems lately geng selling members to help set up the tent on Friday and tear down again on Sunday selling members who don’t help with the set up and tear down will be assessed an extra $5.00. Jefferson opens at 6:00am on Friday for vendors and 10:00am Friday for the general public.

Appreciaon Banquet: Mel Stark talked about the Member Appreciaon Banquet. It will be held February 27, which is the last Saturday in February. This year it will be held at Tuscan Hall which is the old VFW Post on Summit Ave. in Waukesha. The menu items will be the same as before. The price will remain at $20.00 per member which includes dinner, beer and soda. Tickets will be available at the December meeng. More informaon will be provided as the date gets closer.

The picnic and aucon was held September

20. The weather was perfect and the turn-

out was great. Members brought treasures

from their basements and garages to be

auconed off to other members. Everyone

went home with something new or used as

the case may be. The highlight of the auc-

on each year is the hand-painted porcelain

doll that is donated by Nancy Kelly. Ricki

Calvano was this years high bidder for the

doll. The amount of money earned at the

aucon is matched by the club with the

total then donated to a Waukesha Charity

Mel Stark is honored with an award

for his many years of service to the

club. There will also be a Mel Stark

Award that will go to the oldest reg-

istered vehicle at the show
