HolidaysHAPPYAs soon as October arrives, my mind starts

drifting to the holidays. Ok, so it’s not technically a drift...it’s more like BAM!! Holidays! The last quarter of the year is my favorite, and I like to make the most of the short season.

Decorating my home with handmade decor is one of my favorite ways to celebrate my love of the holidays, plus it makes me happy. Happiness is a big deal for me. Holidays are stressful, and with the current climate of our world, creating happiness and coziness means more than ever.

So if you need me, I’ll be over here decking my halls with some holiday-themed projects. Want to join me?

Inside this issue, you will find some Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas-themed designs perfect for keeping or gifting. Feel free to switch up the colors to your own style and preference and use different yarns to create fun textures. But above all else, have fun while creating!

I know I say it a lot, but I LOVE the

holidays! The sights, smells, sounds...the last part of the year is my favorite. And festive home decor is just one of the many perks of the season.

Shawna and I thought it might be fun to share a few of our favorite designs from some past issues of Happily Hooked Magazine and Pattern Pack Pro. We hope you’re inspired!

I think my very favorite holiday pattern

from ALL issues of Happily Hooked and PPP is the Joyous Santa from HHM 55. It makes my whole heart happy. When I took over as Creative Editor, this magical little man was the first project I made, and I leave him out all year round.

I’ve lost count of how many Snowflake Headbands (HHM 28) I’ve made over the years. The design is simple and fun, and I love that it can be made in any color combination!

The Tree of Snowflakes (PPP 15) has been on my to-crochet list since it was released, and I’ve decided that I’m finally going to sit down and make it! I put it off for so long because I was intimidated with the thought of having to block each snowflake, but no more! I’m makin’ it!

As I’m working through my list, I realize that almost all of my favorites are Christmas-based. But I can’t help it! I LOVE CHRISTMAS! And I love this Santa Cube Ornament (PPP 39)! I’ve made a few of him for each of our family trees, and he’s just so adorable!

I’m the very first person to admit that Halloween is definitely not my favorite (Shawna and I are exact opposites when it comes to this topic), but I love Bruce the Bat (PPP 60). His little fangs and big ears are just the cutest!

My very favorite Fall pattern in ALL of our issues has got to be the Countryside Pumpkin (HHM 66). By using different yarn weights and non-traditional yarn colors, you can create a pumpkin patch full of personality!

While technically not holiday-themed, I love the Flower Chair Cover (HHM 45). I am imagining chairs with rich Fall-colored covers - burnt orange, mustard yellow, chocolatey brown, deep cranberry...or maybe a combination of all those colors! Now I’ve inspired myself!!

Where I don’t love Christmas like

Courtney does, I am a REALLY big fan of Halloween and Thanksgiving is ok, but it gets in the way of my birthday. Every 7ish years I have to share my day, boo! Well if I have to share at least I get turkey and pie! So let’s take a look at some of my favorites from the past issues.

First I am taking it old school, all the way back to Issue #9! This one is full of Christmas decor. I love reindeer so Sherman the Deer is my first pick, but when I saw the Bangle Wreath I thought that would be a SUPER cute ornament!

Then, I went in search of cute Halloween patterns and found the Pumpkin Coasters in Issue #6 and I think they can pull double

holiday duty, because pumpkins are great for both Halloween and Thanksgiving.

I could never pass up a snowman so the Snow Buddies from Issue 43 is a must on my list of holiday patterns.

the Bat from the September PPP. I know, I know, Courtney already shared him but, Bruce is my kind of bat, quiet and doesn’t fly around my head! Tracee is the designer and owner of Knot 2 Sassy. She’s had a passion for arts and crafts since she was little, but crochet caught her attention when she was pregnant with her first child. She wanted a pretty baby blanket and no one she knew could crochet, so she taught herself and it was love at first hook!

4. Use hot glue gun to attach Fangs to back of Mouth, glue or sew Mouth under Eyes.

5. Weave in any ends.

When she was younger, Samantha was fascinated by her great- grandmother’s crochet projects. She wanted to be able to do that herself! She learned the basics (with some help from her mom and grandma) at age of 12. Since then, she has learned more advanced techniques from Youtube and blogs, and even taught others to crochet by teaching a crochet class at her high school. She recently began designing her own patterns. She hopes to inspire others to learn to crochet because she believes that working creatively with one’s hands can positively affect a person’s attitude. When she is not crocheting, she is busy running and studying nursing at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Tracee is the designer and owner of Knot 2 Sassy. She’s had a passion for arts and crafts since she was little, but crochet caught her attention when she was pregnant with her first child. She wanted a pretty baby blanket and no one she knew could crochet, so she taught herself and it was love at first hook!
