Hydrotherapy Pool A water workout is a brilliant way to START being active… come and try it this SPRING!

The benefits of exercising in the water are many and varied: - Water provides resistance which strengthens muscles and boosts cardio output

- Water supports your weight making a workout easier on joints and the chance of injury is reduced.

- The 34 degree celsius temperature soothes and supports aching

joints

- You may heal faster; doctors often recommend aquatic exercises

for people who have had surgery (once wounds have healed) as a way to stay fit and reduce recovery time.

The Archie hydrotherapy pool is a steamy 340C. Sessions are small, supportive and safe. Complete a pre-exercise assess-ment form before attending your first hydrotherapy session

Sessions are 1hour; include approx. 40mins in the pool, 10mins to change before & after time in the water.

$9 per session. (Rewards card system, pay for ten sessions and get two free)

Keen to learn some aqua exercises to better manage your workout? Ask your health professional or one of our aqua instructors Donna or Janet.

Patrons can access the pool for independent hydrotherapy where a maximum of ten people are in the pool at any one time and a lifeguard is present at all times.

The water exercise classes are led by an aqua instructor / lifeguard who ensures that participants are working out safely and effectively. A maximum of eight people are in the pool for these classes.

‘Everyone belongs at Archie’

“Community is much more than

belonging to something; it’s about doing something together

that makes belonging matter”

Brian Solis is a leading digital anthropologists, futurists and blogger

Located in the Tasty Plate Café at Archie - it’s in the corner near the piano :)

Archie Volunteers Did you know…

Over 20 volunteers assist our fitness instructors Michelle and Janet, by being ‘additional eyes in the room ’ at the classes where some people may be at high risk of a fall or may need a hand moving from one exercise to the next.

Our volunteers come to Archie exercise ses-sions themselves so they know how the place ticks. All enjoy a chat and know how to have fun while exercising!

The buzz in the room during exercise sessions is an indication of the friendships that form through these sessions.

Volunteers also assist with set-up and pack-up of equipment, recording of participant progress as they keep an eye on safety in the room. This allows instructors to focus on participant workouts.

Exercise volunteers who have been away for the winter are encourage to talk to Michelle, about resuming your volunteering. Follow -up before or after your class. Thanks!

Please do your bit to keep this ‘cuppa’ area clean and tidy Everyone needs to put their used dishes in the dishwasher.

If you see someone who hasn’t...please help out and do it for the benefit of all of us :) Talk to Clare Vaughan or Jen Katsaros to sug-gest improvements
