Radiation Oncology for Sarcoma with Mitchell Kamrava, MD Saturday, Oct 14 • 11am - 1pmDr. Mitchell Kamrava will discuss understanding the role of Radiation in the management of Sarcomas. Q & A to follow. Dr. Mitchell Kamrava earned his medical degree UC San Diego, interned at Stanford University Hospital and completed his residency at National Cancer Institute.
Hereditary Cancer: What You Need to Know Tuesday, October 17 • 6pm - 7:30pmJoanne Kreindel from FORCE will raise awareness and educate people about hereditary breast, ovarian and related cancers. She will also review the warning signs of hereditary breast and ovarian cancers and the importance of genetic counseling. Joanne Kreindel is a Community Liaison FORCE Volunteer. She spent most of her career in Broadcast Journalism- in radio news as anchor, writer, reporter and documentarian.
Coming Back to the Breath: Blending Ayurveda and Nutrition for Vitality Wednesday, October 18 • 5pm - 6pmJoin Stacey Whittle and Hari Simran for a talk on blending the healing modalities of nutrition and Ayurveda for deep rejuvenation and symptomatic relief. Stacey and Hari Simran will help you understand how to use these tools so that you can integrate them into your everyday life. Hari Simran graduated from California College of Ayurveda and is practicing as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist. Breast Reconstruction with Keith Hurvitz, MD Thursday, October 19 • 6pm - 7pmJoin us as Dr. Keith Hurvitz discusses, breast reconstruction and non-reconstruction options, how to make a decision that is right for you, medical factors that can influence your decision, and how to prepare for and what to expect after surgery. Dr. Hurvitz began his medical career at USC School of Medicine. Dr. Hurvitz is double certified by the ABMS and is a diplomat of both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology.
Lunch Discussion: Frankly Speaking About Cancer - Immunotherapy with Ani Balmanoukian, MD Friday, October 20 • 1pm - 2:30pmThis free workshop offers information on one of the most exciting new discoveries and treatments for cancer, immunotherapy. Patients and their loved ones are invited to join us as we learn how the immune system interacts with cancer, treatments that are currently available as well as treatments that are being developed, and tips to manage common side effects. In addition, participants will learn about ways to cope with the social and emotional challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Dr. Balmanoukian went to New York Medical College, Intern and Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and her Fellowship was at Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Balmanoukian is part of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Network and the Angeles Clinic and Research Institute. 12:30 – 1:00pm Lunch and Social Time Lunch donated by the world famous "THE SPOT" restaurant in Hermosa Beach.
Breast Cancer & Medical Qi Gong Saturday, October 21 • 10am - 12pmBenj Sinskul, Medical Qi Gong Practitioner, will discuss Traditional Chinese Medicine’s (TCM) perspective of how breast cysts and tumors develop. Participiants will perform Qi Gong exercises to empower you to combat your disease.
The Lymphatic System & Lymphedema Thursday, October 26 • 6:30pm - 8pmMaria Serret, PT, DPT, OCS will present an overview of the lymphatic system and lymphedema as well as recognizing and reducing risk of lymphedema. Attendees will learn safe upper body exercises. Maria Serret has been with Kaiser since 2006 and is a USC graduate in Physical Therapy specializing in orthopedics, chronic pain and lymphedema.

Topics include, warning signs that help is needed, various types of assistance available including home modifications, community resources, various types of in-home help, and the pros and cons of each. Drew Davis received an MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business and a BA from Loyola Marymount University. He is a nationally and internationally recognized authority in endocrine surgery, medical education, value-based health care delivery, and leadership in medicine.

It represents our desire to bring out the inner beauty of the flowers themselves. Attendees will learn to express themselves with the therapeutic art of beautifully arranging cut stems, leaves, and flowers in vases. In this class, students will create a Holiday flower arrangement. Karen Morin Green, RN, member of Compassion & Choices, will present the various choices for end-of-life and also the basic steps and requirements for utilizing the California law.
Understanding Your Radiation Options in Breast Cancer with Mitchell Kamrava, MD Lunch Discussion Friday, November 10 • 1pm - 2:30pmRadiation is an important component for women undergoing breast conservation therapy after their lumpectomy. Advances in radiation now allow for a variety of personalized treatment options. In this talk he will discuss these various treatment options and how decisions are made regarding which treatment is best for an individual woman. Mitchell Kamrava, MD, is the Director of Brachytherapy Services in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute at Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Mitchell Kamrava earned his Medical degree from at UC San Diego in 2005, interned at Stanford University Hospital in 2006 and completed his residency at National Cancer Institute. Individual, Couples & Family Counseling
Cancer Support Community Redondo Beach offers free short-term counseling to Community members, to couples and family members. Joining a weekly support group is also strongly encouraged.

Teens Connect is a support group for teens ages 13-17 who have a family member battling cancer. Teens will explore their feelings of fear, guilt, confusion, anger and neglect. This transitional support group is for teens who are grieving the loss of a parent, grandparent, sibling or any other fam-ily member with cancer.
