September has been a successful startup in part to parents and students bringing back all necessary paperwork for the office. We would like to thank everyone for the quick response. September has also been very busy with respect to activities planned for the fall. Senior high volleyball is underway with the girls placing 3rd at the Ridgevalley tournament. Cross country running has also been successful with students from grades 3 to 10 attending the meets in the Wolves XC Running Series. Many of the racers have been finishing in the top 10. The citadel trip to see “Death of a Salesman”, for the grade 9 to 12 students was an amazing live performance. All the students enjoyed the whole trip. Colder weather is on the way whether we want it or not. We would like to remind parents that students need to be dressed for this weather when they get on the bus in the morning. The physical education classes will continue to be outside and all elementary students will be outside for recesses. By dressing warm we are hoping to decrease the number of sick people in the building. With the cold weather we have also been experiencing some wet weather. We are expecting students to have inside and outside footwear at school. These inside shoes leave the hallways clean but most importantly free of excess water that could cause falls.
Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.
SPORTING EVENTS
Junior boys’ and girls’ volleyball now have coaches. Mrs. Celeste Emerson will take over the duties of “Girls Coach” and Mr. Pattison will
have the title, “Boys Coach”.
The high school girls attended the Ridgevalley Volleyball Tournament on 24th. They did very well placing 3rd overall. Their next tournament
will be the Grimshaw Tournament on October 14th and 15th.
Elementary, Junior High and Senior High students have had the opportunity this fall to participate in the Wolves XC Running Series
events. This competition involves several races on consecutive weekends around the Peace Country. Runners must compete in at least 3
races in order to compete for point totals in the event.

Green Certificate The Green Certificate program allows students who are involved with farming to earn extra high school credits.
It is an industry-driven training program available to students. It provides trainees with opportunities to enter a variety of agriculture-related, structured learning pathways as a part of their senior high school program and to earn a credential leading to a career in agribusiness. It is an approved complementary program of studies available to all Alberta high schools. The areas of study are: Crop Production, Cow-Calf, Equine, Sheep and Swine.
The cost of the program is $100.00 and it is refunded as soon as the student has
achieved 6 credits.
If you have any questions please talk to

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES GRADE 5 TO 12
Classes will continue to be outside until we have completed our fall activities. We have encouraged students to bring layers of clothes. Lockers are provided in the change rooms for students to put their extra clothing for the changing weather. Your child can bring their own lock or buy one from Mrs. Connell. Please help them to prepare for this weather as it can be a little chilly if they are not dressed properly. A toque and long sleeve t-shirt will help in keeping active kids a little warmer.
Graphing Calculators Needed
If you have a TI 84 Texas Instruments high school Graphing Calculator that one of your children have used in the past and it is not being used we would love to recycle it for you. We still use them in the Math programs and they are expensive. We have parents who are looking for second hand calculators. Please give Mr. Mckay a call.

The Samaritan’s Purse is doing the Operation Christmas
Child Project again this year. Practical and fun items are put in
a shoe box, or other suitable container, and given to children
“who have suffered because of war, natural disaster, poverty,
illness, or neglect.” Many of the children who receive these
gifts have never received a present before. Imagine the
childlike joy as they open their presents on Christmas morning.
Our school, churches, and community will be collecting items to fill as many shoe
boxes as we receive materials for. Or perhaps you would like to fill the complete
shoebox and send it. If you are interested in helping in this way, please send the items
that you would like to donate to Eaglesham School, to NightinGale Convenience Store,
or to Eaglesham Community Church on or before Monday, November 14th.
Additional helpful information is available in the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas
Child brochure and preprinted decorated boxes are available at the above locations, or
information is on-line. We hope to assemble boxes for each of the three age groups, for
both boys and girls. However, we have been notified that again the greatest need at
this time is for boys, especially older boys age 10-14.
Some ideas for older boys include:
*filling a small backpack or plastic box instead of shoebox
*any kind of ball (Nerf footballs are great!), small cars, T shirts, yo-yos
*sunglasses, hard candy (wrapped), t-shirts, cap, solar calculators, puzzles,
harmonica, school supplies, basic tools
*hygiene items (no liquids, gels, or anything that can leak, melt, or freeze
including no shampoo, lotion, lip balm, or toothpaste.)
Last year our community sent out over a hundred boxes. This year we hope to share
with even more children in warm weather, subtropical regions. For additional information
or to volunteer to help please contact one of the following names below. We look
forward to working together with you to share with those in need.

Remembrance Day Update: This year, Remembrance Day falls on a Friday. Participating students will leave the school at 3:30 Thursday to dig trenches, occupy them all night and host Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Hall at 10:30, November 11. This year we will dig trenches at the southern edge of Mr. Gordon Donaldson’s property. This location is only ½ km west of our usual location behind Mr. Pattison’s greenhouse. Members of the Canadian Forces will be joining us again this year. As usual, parents of participants are free to come and visit the students as they dig their trenches between 5 and 7 on Thursday night. The public is welcome to come visit the students in the trenches on the morning of Remembrance Day between 7 to 10 AM and join us at the hall for 10:30, to remember those who have served. Students taking part are expected to dress warmly, but may not bring more than two blankets (just like a WW1 soldier). Students should also bring a backpack, knife, fork, spoon, plate/bowl, extra warm clothes, (including socks), water bottle and a small plastic tarp. Warm footwear is expected, rubber boots are too cold (just ask our Member of Parliament, Chris Warkentin). No snacks or electronics. We look forward to having you join us in remembering those who served
