Dear Restaurant Owner:

SouthCoast Chamber is proud to present the 12th Annual “New Bedford Seaport Chowder Festival”scheduled for Sunday, October 8th from noon to 5pm with the tasting until 3pm on Pier 3in New Bedford’s historic, working waterfront.

The “Chowder Festival” features restaurants from throughout the SouthCoast area.Participants serve up sample sized portions of their signature dishes from 12 noon to 3:00in the categories of Clam and Seafood Chowder, Kale Soup, Signature Soup and StuffedQuahogs. This sampling, along with the creative decor of your table display, serves as anadvertisement of the quality and character of your restaurant.

Festival participants are featured in an intense promotional advertising program leadingup to the event, on signs and in the Festival program book handed out at the event.The program book lists your business name, address, phone number, web site and aboxed logo advertisement. The center spread of the book is the voting page.

Trophies and plaques will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in two separatecontests. “Judges Choice” is a blind taste test competition by a panel of Judges. Cash prizesare awarded for 1st place; $500 for best clam chowder and $250 each for best seafoodchowder, kale soup, signature soup and stuffed quahogs. The “Peoples Choice” is a separatecontest and awards are decided by the votes of the ticket holders.

The tasting wraps up by 3pm and then the votes are tallied by our team of volunteers. The funcontinues with live music, beer, wine, cocktails, cold drinks and desserts until the awardsare presented at 4:30pm. The family fun atmosphere also features children’s craft activities,outdoor tables and seating in front of the band.
