Mike Semancik 300 at Lodi LanesBy Lucas Wiseman - USBC
ARLINGTON, Texas - Fueled by
three big games, Team USA's
John Janawicz of Winter Haven,Florida, captured the gold medal
in singles in the opening event of
the 2015 Pan American Bowling
Confederation Men's
Championships.
Janawicz had a six-game total
of 1,319 (219.83 average) to take
the gold medal at AMF Bolera
Paradise Lanes in San Juan,
Puerto Rico.
After opening the event with a
181 game, Janawicz caught fire
and put up games of 258, 248 and
266 before finishing the event with 160 and 206 on
the 33-foot Sydney pattern.
"I tried playing a little farther to the right the first
game, and I think I got caught in the middle of what ball to use," said Janawicz, a seven-time Team USA
member. "Then I made a ball switch, moved in and
tried to open the lane up. All the sudden I found
something and I had it for three games. I just kind of
grinded it out from there and fortunately it was
enough to hold up for the win."
It was the third time Janawicz has won the singles
gold at the PABCON Men's Championships, also tak-
ing the title in 2007 and 2012. His gold-medal total
this year was the lowest winning score since 1993
when Anthony Chapman won for the United States
with 1,306 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Team USA's Chris Barnes, who bowled alongside
Janawicz in singles, took the sil-
ver medal with 1,316, while
Venezuela's Reydnier Chavez
took the bronze with 1,296.Puerto Rico took the gold
medal, while Team USA earned
the silver and bronze medals in
the PABCON doubles event.
Cristian Azcona and Israel
Hernandez gave host Puerto Rico
the gold medal with a six-game
total of 2,739 (228.3 average) on
the 39-foot Seoul pattern.
Hernandez led the duo with a
1,404 total, while Azcona fired
1,335. The pair were propelled to
the title by a huge fifth game,
shooting a combined 537 to secure a big lead on the
field.
The victory gave Puerto Rico its first doubles title
in the event since 1993 when Jim Porter and JaimeAlmendro won with 2,486 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Team USA's Bill O'Neill of Langhorne,
Pennsylvania, and Tommy Jones of Simpsonville,
South Carolina, made a late charge at the gold but
came up short, earning the silver with 2,711.
Jones had the highest individual total of the day
with 1,424, while O'Neill added 1,287. The U.S. pair
finished with a 455 game but fell 28 pins short of the
top spot on the podium.
Marshall Kent of Yakima, Washington, and Sean
Rash of Montgomery, Illinois, combined to earn the
bronze medal for Team USA with 2,665. Rash shot
1,379, while Kent had 1,286.

Lynne Coleman, Green Pond, has put Morris County on the map! Lynne
rolled a 716 for her first three games and 1143 for her five-game total to
win the Senior Queens Division. Her husband, Bill, said, “The Senior
Division was based on the first five games of the tournament and a sub-
set of the entire Queens tournament. She finished 17th overall after a
551 series in her 6th through 8th games (after the cut) but was compet-ing against women 30-40 years younger.” She was also competing
against the best women bowlers in the entire state. What amazed Bill
was that her 5 games were on 5 different pairs of lanes.
Other Morris County stars were: Nichole Opsasnick, 3rd overall, Liesl
Apgar, 9th, and Ellen Moore, 14th.

To our customers at the Parkway Lanes, 200 Route 46, Elmwood Park, N.J.:
There continues to be a number of rumors circling around the industry about our business. We had our Financial Consultant address the league officers recently and he attempted to
provide information first to the league members and second to our loyal customers. At thismeeting he disclosed confidential information with the attempt of gaining trust in thestatement that all of our leagues and parties are secure in the thought of using our facilityas their Bowling Center. We have been working hard over the past 8 years to provide ourcustomers the best and most comfortable bowling alley in Bergen County.
We mentioned in our meeting that we have been approached by several entities interestedin purchasing our business. We have been approached by more than a dozen viable entitieswith the interest of purchasing Parkway Lanes in the past three years, however in each casewe have chosen to hold on to it ourselves, in spite of economic challenges.
In all the possible scenarios, we will be f inancially secure for this season and manyseasons to come, as promised.
For those of you who have businesses or business experiences, you will know that aChapter 11 filing allows a business to operate but it also exposes the business to totaltransparency which means anyone who has an interest in buying our business must bedisclosed to the public. It does not mean, in fact a sale or transfer of ownership will takeplace.
The partners of Parkway Lanes have invested more than a million dollars of their hardearned money to maintain and keep their business responsible.
We are using this advertisement for one purpose and one purpose only. We wanteveryone to feel comfortable about having a bowling house that they can trust, and so weare asking you publicly to accept our commitment to remain in business for many years tocome.
We take this opportunity to thank all of our patrons, our league members, and ourcustomers who have enjoyed using our facility as their Birthday party house and their
corporate site for group gatherings.
Thank you for your continued support
