Hunger Pangs in Tulsa
Once again, members of
Bethany will join other caring peo-
ple in Tulsa on the CROP Walk for
Hunger, October 7. They will be
walking to raise money and
awareness to alleviate hunger
through a powerful Church World Service program.
But don't think hunger is only or primarily
found overseas. It's right here, probably just a few
blocks from where you live. There are hungry chil-
dren going to a school near you. Yes, there are pro-
grams to help hungry families, but those programs
always struggle to meet the growing need. They
need our help, now.
We ask you to be one of the walkers or to fi-
nancially support the Bethany walkers. Or if you like,
donate now on line. Click on this hyper link:

bethanyCROP. It's that easy to help comfort the
hunger pangs in Tulsa and other parts of the world. Bethany's goal is $1,000. You can help us NOW; just
click on the link.
October 7th is the last day to contribute.
Luncheon Served
On October 7th, there will be a luncheon
served directly after worship. The luncheon is for
everyone but especially to energize the members
and friends who will be walking in Tulsa for the
CROP Walk for Hunger.
Please join everyone in the Fellowship
Hall after worship for a time to relax and
refuel before the CROP Walk!
Disciple Women Service
During the October 13 meet-
ing, Disciples Women will be receiving
an offering from members to be used
for the purchase of Church World Ser-
vice blankets. The blankets, which cost $5.00 each,
help to provide warmth and shelter around the
world when disaster strikes.
We look forward to hearing from Richard
Ziglar on the topic of “Fatherhood” at our 10 a.m.
meeting. Hostesses for October 13th are Wanda Ad-
ams and Peggy Cameron.
Bethany Community School Fall Festival
This year, Bethany Church is invited to partici-
pate in the Fall Festival for Bethany Community
School on Tuesday, October 23, in two different
ways. For those of us who can, volunteers are
needed for the pizza station and the dessert station.
If you can spend a few hours that night at either,
please let Kelli know. Second, we get to help raise
money by sponsoring a basket for the silent auction.
This Basket will celebrate "Family Game Night" at
home. You can participate by picking up any of
these items to build up the basket.
We will need these new items for play: Two
Rated G movies, two board games for children un-
der 10, any table or card games for children under
10, any Mad-Libs or other paper notebook games,
To eat: Assorted Movie Theater Style candy, One 3
pack of microwave popcorn, Assorted small
snacks, Please bring these to
church and place in the of-
fice. We will update the
needed items in the briefs af-
ter we get anything in. Thanks!

This October, we begin the yearly Stewardship Cam-
paign to live out our ministry for the year 2013. As inheritors of
many gifts of the faith, we are called to seek God’s purposes
for our whole lives. We open up our heads and our hearts,
sharing with one another all that we are.
To begin our campaign, I ask that you say a daily
prayer between now and November 4, our Consecration Sun-
day when we share with the church our estimated giving for
the next year of time, talent and treasures. Please pray with
me this prayer:
Holy One, we are richly blessed with an ancient faith. In re-
sponse, we ask You to reveal in our heads and hearts how we
can share this faith through our time, talent, and treasure. Amen
