It is a funny, modernized examination of a nutty family of middle aged siblings, one of whom brings a boy- toy into their New England family estate. While Durang says it’s not a parody of Chekhov’s Russian ‘comedies’, he admits that he’s taken a mish-mash of Chekhovian characters and elements and “put them in a blender”. The results are hilarious. Reflecting on the misconceptions of love, married life, and the not-so- happily ever after…three breathless brides gather evidence against their womanizing, murderous husband by re-living the shocking events leading up to their deaths. A breath-taking social critique, full of rich images, a myriad of characters, and lyrical language. Nicole has had a long, rough day teaching and just needs to get through two after school parent/teacher appointments. One parent does not understand boundaries between people and the second parent, rough, crass, and out of place, is struggling to play nice with others. It seems that both need lessons in parenting; yet, all three of them have multiple issues bubbling under the surface just waiting to erupt. Set in a grade 3 classroom, George F. Walker’s new play, Parents Night, is a challenging, dramatic comedy that doesn’t hold back, showcasing three adults who battle their way towards acceptance and understanding. MEDIA SPONSORS

About The GuildFrom our simple beginning in 1965, The Peterborough Theatre Guild has entertained thousands of Peterborough area residents and visitors alike with award winning live theatre. The troupe performs its plays in the Guildhall located at 364 Rogers Street in Peterborough. The building (formerly St. Luke’s Anglican Church) was gutted by fire in 1959. A local group of theatre enthusiasts raised the funds to purchase the old church and after extensive renovations, staged their first play just a few years later. Because of the hard work and dedication by this group of people, the Theatre Guild is the only producing theatre company in the region which owns its own theatre.

The Peterborough Theatre Guild is made up entirely of volunteer members. Our doors are always open to other people in the community who want to participate in the theatre onstage, backstage or in the administration or as ushers or box office volunteers. We welcome you to join us! Go to theatreguild.org and find a volunteer application or contact our volunteer and membership coordinator.

You can purchase tickets from any device

You can select EXACTLY the seats you want

You can pay securely online with a credit card

You can still call the box office or mail in your order as you have done for years

You can print your tickets or have them display on your iphone and avoid line-ups at the door to collect tickets, or you can have them held at the box office for pick-up

message From THE CHAIR

I’m also proud that we are providing even more than a series of great productions. This year we will continue our recent programs that we think will help to build and develop our community of theatre lovers. We have play readings, workshops in all aspects of theatre, summer camps and lots of learning about theatre for everyone.

You are invited to become part of this great organization backstage, onstage or in the audience. Thanks for your help in making the Guild one of the best community theatre groups in Ontario.

The Peterborough Theatre Guild continues its more than fifty-year-long tradition of providing excellent community theatre with this great line-up of shows for 2017-2018. I’m very excited to see such a mix of interesting titles and genres in the playbill. We start with a dark thriller Dracula and later in the season poke fun at horror with the astounding Addams Family. This great musical recently stormed Broadway, as did our comedy Vanya&Sonya&Masha&Spike by Christopher Durang. We have a classic family show, a powerful drama, fascinating, innovative and compelling plays all round.
