Don’t you have a saying, ‘Four more months and then it’s time for harvest’? Look, I tell you: open your eyes and notice that the fields are already ripe for the harvest. Those who harvest are receiving their pay and gathering fruit for eternal life so that those who sow and those who harvest can celebrate together. John 4:34-36 Once again we are approaching the time of year in which the growing season is coming to an end and soon harvest will be upon us. Months of labor, of watching, waiting, and praying will move into a season of long days and short nights as the fields must be harvested before winter comes, and who knows when that will be. Harvest is the time of year when we see the results of all of those months of labor. Much of what kind of yield there will be is out of our control thanks to weather and other factors. But we know this for sure if you never plant a seed, there will be no harvest. We have spent most of the summer learning about discipleship, hopefully growing in the ways in which we follow and serve Jesus Christ. Hopefully, we all have learned ways in which we can plant spiritual seeds as we go and grow through life. As Jesus left this earth and returned to God in heaven he gave one final command to those who follow him. He told them (and us) to “Go, make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey all that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” That is what the harvest looks like – making disciples of Jesus Christ. The United Methodist Church calls it the mission of the church “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” There will come a day in which all of us must account for our harvest. We will someday need to show Jesus how we have contributed to this holy work of the church (not the building, the people of God). What will you have to show on that day? Did you plant the seeds necessary for there to be a harvest? Did you nurture and care for those seeds as they sprouted and grew? Jesus says in the gospel of John “Those who harvest are receiving their pay and gathering fruit for eternal life”. Each of us need to reflect as to whether we are gathering fruit for eternal life? Every day is an opportunity to help in the Kingdom building work of God. We each have the opportunity to help in restoration of the world, in helping others know the love and grace of God. So, even though the calendar says that autumn is here and with it comes harvest, in our spiritual lives it is never too late to sow seeds. Let us share the great Good News that Jesus came for ALL, Jesus died for ALL, Jesus rose so that ALL could have eternal life. Let us be ambassadors of love and sowers of peace this season, and all seasons. Pastor Teresa

Jesus said to them, “I am fed by doing the will of the one who sent me and by completing his work. John 4:34-36

Once again we are approaching the time of year in which the growing season is coming to an end and soon harvest will be upon us. Months of labor, of watching, waiting, and praying will move into a season of long days and short nights – as the fields must be harvested before winter comes, and who knows when that will be. Harvest is the time of year when we see the results of all of those months of labor. Much of what kind of yield there will be is out of our control thanks to weather and other factors. But we know this for sure – if you never plant a seed, there will be no harvest.

The United Methodist Church calls it the mission of the church “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

There will come a day in which all of us must account for our harvest.

'One Thing' - October 2019

continues

The Aaron Project

The Aaron Project is a outreach ministry of the Miller United Methodist with the goal to reach out and keep contact with recent (within the

last 4 years) Miller High School graduates from our church who are currently full-time college students.

“…..Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before the Lord from evening til morning”—Exodus 27:21a (NIV)

We want our young people to know we continue to think about them, care how they are doing, and are praying for them. We also want to keep the Lord’s light burning in their lives.

We need a student’s name, current school address, birthday, email, and phone number from the families of recent Miller grads Please contact Chris Keeter with this information: [email protected] or 605-204-0577.

From our congregation we request the following snack items--we have found our students like these best:

Gum Tic-Tacs Ramen Noodles Easy Mac/Cheese

Individual serving size: pretzels, crackers, cookies Money for postage

Please NO liquid-including soup, cups or bowls, boxed mixes, fruit cups, applesauce, chocolate or other candy, no family-or party sized food items.

We ask everyone to please pray our students will feel God presence in their lives especially when faced with daily challenges as they take on this new journey and pray that we glorify God with this ministry.

Please let Chris Keeter know by email/text message how you would like to help. We plan to send out the first care packages in October and then before finals. So please have any items you would like to add to the snack care packages to the church before October 1st - please place in the shopping cart.

Sometimes it is one thing

one thing that makes a difference

one thing that is easy to remember

one thing that changes everything Let’s focus our attention on one thing needed for one area of need.

When one is not satisfied with the way the (insert: the national, state, or local) government; school; church; whatever is being run – It is up to one’s self to participate:

– Vote - Run for office – Step Up – Do –
