Perhaps your home- owner’s association has restrictions against solar panels, or maybe you rent and your landlord won’t allow you to install solar panels. Our 2.7 AC megawatt Coopera- tive Solar project is the perfect solution for those looking to invest in solar energy. The facility gives residential members the ability to purchase one-kilowatt blocks of solar electricity for $20 each per month. There is no upfront cost, no long-term lease, no maintenance and no contract — solar made sim- ple. 3307527 Kilowatt-hours produced offset the same number of kilowatt-hours on each participant’s monthly bill. Each block will receive 1/2,700th of the output of the project and is expected to produce between 135 and 195 kilowatt-hours of solar energy monthly. Each residential member may purchase up to 2 blocks. Energy output will vary due to the sun’s angle, the time of year, the number of cloudy days in the month and other factors. You can view information on SSEMC’s Cooperative Solar project at www.ssemc.com/solar. The page shows the monthly cumu- lative amount of energy produced by the co-op’s facility and shows the demand being generated in real time with current weather condi- tions. 592329 To sign up for your own solar blocks, call us at 770-786-3484. But when all those pennies and nickelsand dimes are added together, it’s trulyamazing how much good they can do.

The funds are used to help qualifying

charitable/communityorganizations with spe-

cific needs that theyhave or to directly helppeople in need of assis-

tance with household orliving expenses; home repairs

or equipment; and medical or healthneeds.

The funds approved at the most recentOperation Round Up meetings are listedbelow.

Beginning November 1, your electric energy use will be billed on our winterrates. Winter rates are effective from November through April, and summerrates are billed from May through October. In areas such as ours where sum-mers are hot, the peak demand for electricity occurs during the months whenair conditioners are working hard to keep everybody cool. The higher demandfor electricity on hot summer days makes the cost of providing power greaterduring the summer, and that is reflected in our rate structure.

Snapping ShoalsEMC is currentlyaccepting applica-tions for the 2018

Washington YouthTour, one of the

nation’s oldest leadershipprograms for teens. The WashingtonYouth Tour was inspired by formerpresident Lyndon Johnson who in1965 encouraged electric cooperatives“to send youngsters to the nation’scapital where they can actually see whatthe flag stands for and represents.”

This year marks the 53rd year thatEMCs will be sponsoring more than100 students from Georgia for a week-long trip to the nation’s capital. TheTour offers students a personal lessonin U.S. history, provides competitionsand contests to encourage leadershipand teamwork, includes conversationswith elected leaders on important sub-jects and current events, and gives theteens a better appreciation for commu-nity and public service. Many YouthTour alumni have gone on to serve as

elected officials – or served in leader-ship positions with some of the mostprofitable, innovative and highlyrespected companies in the world.

Scheduled this year from June 7-14,the Youth Tour kicks-off in Atlantawith a banquet for EMC representa-tives, chaperones, students and familiesbefore departing for Washington D.C.where they will join more than 1,600 oftheir peers from around the country.Among many highlights in the Nation’sCapital, participants will visit historiclandmarks including Arlington Ceme-tery, the Smithsonian Museums, Holo-caust Museum, Mount Vernon,Supreme Court, Capitol, WashingtonMonument, and the MLK, FDR, Jef-ferson, World War II, and Lincolnmemorials. 4430154
