Breathing Techniques to NaturallyOvercome Acute and Chronic Pain...
Jon is a physical therapist who has been evaluating andtreating patients for twenty years. Many patients seektreatment for pain involving the neck and shoulder areathat can radiate into the arm. "Many times patients withthese type of symptoms are also experiencing frequentheadaches, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and upsetdigestion. These symptoms can make working at homeor at the office very challenging and frustrating. Itbecomes even more frustrating for patients whendiagnostic testing (MRIs, Xrays, EMGs) reveal nopathology that can explain the severity of theircomplaints.
The lack of a definitive diagnosis can lead to even morefrustration and a sense of desperation," says Jon.Luckily for patients seeking treatment at OptimumPerformance Physical Therapy, Jon's years ofexperience coupled with the latest scientific studies, highlight the importance of paying attention to breathing. The latest studies demonstrate promising results usingbreathing techniques to restore health and improveoverall function, in both mind and body (spirit as well)."The majority of patients I treat take breathing forgranted, but then we all do. Very few people realize howbreathing can influence their health or how poorly theybreathe.
On the average, most humans breathe about 14 timesevery minute, more than 20,000 times a day and nofewer than 7.5 million times a year. Nearly all of thosebreaths are automatic. However, respiration generallyrequires as much thought as pumping blood or digestingfood. Yet despite all that practice, the majority of usstruggle to breathe properly and this constitutes adysfunctional movement pattern affecting overall healthfor many acute and chronic conditions," states Jon.
