OCTOBER 2011
PCA sets record membership level in August
PCA solidifies its title as "Largest Single Marque Car Club" in the world by posting over 60,000 primary members representing a total over 105,000 members including fam-ily/affiliate members in August. The current membership level illustrates a sharp growth over the past five years. In 2000, primary memberships were approx. 50,000 and in 2005 it was approx. 52,275. The growth in membership can be attributed to the dedication and coordinated efforts of individual members, PCA regions, and PCA National Staff to offer the general membership distinctive value of benefits only PCA can provide. Of course, PCA is on to its next milestone - 75,000 primary members by 2014! We look forward to maintaining our best practices and implementing new and exciting programs to reach the next milestone. Together, we'll get there!
2012 Porsche Parade - July 8-14, Salt Lake City, Utah
Mark your calendars! Parade is THE Porsche Club event of the year: our annual national convention. Parade has a potpourri of activities and club members from all across North America come together for this once a year extravaganza to par-ticipate in a week of competitive events, to socialize and enjoy their cars, with seminars and tours adding to the event's variety.
For many club members, Parade is their big vacation for the year. It provides them with an opportunity to see new parts of the country as well as to visit with PCA friends that they only see once a year, at Pa-rade! In addition to entrants, representatives from the Porsche factory in Stuttgart, and from Porsche Cars North America also attend, along with numerous automotive-related spokespeople. 2012 Parade: http://parade2012.pca.org/ Check out the 2011: http://parade2011.pca.org/

President’s ReportSteve McCombs—KY Region President
October is here and it looks like we had another outstanding DE event! Thanks to all involved in making The Kentucky Region’s DE event one of the best PCA has to offer. And as always, a BIG thanks to BlueGrass Motorsports, our local Porsche Dealer-ship. Randy's (and this crew’s) involvement is second to none and always first class.
We have two driving events in October: the Louisville Concours Porsche paddock Oct 2nd, and the 12th Annual Huber’s Winery drive Oct 8th to meet up with the three other Regions (CIR, Bluegrass and SIR). The monthly membership meetings are going well with attendance growing each month. You should plan on attending this month’s meeting at Tony’s shop (Stuttgart Specialists) where we’ll have a cook out during the meeting. Also plan on attending our “Movie Drive-In Night” October 22nd sponsored by Mark Lichtefeld. We are looking at having another "After The Holiday’s Party" like last year, probably in mid January 2012.
It's that time of the year—when elections are at hand. If you’re interested in holding an office for the 2012 year, please let Matt Innes (elections chair) know so we can get your name on the ballot. New people and new ideas are the future of your club, why not get involved. As always, we're open to hearing from the membership about fun and interesting things to do. This is your club. Help us make it worth the time you have to invest.
Hope to see ya soon,
Steve McCombs
12th Annual Drive to Huber’s WineryWhen: Saturday, October 8th
Meet where: The Park across the street from BlueGrass Porsche Dealership
Departing Time: 10:30 am (or you can meet us at Huber's around 1:30pm)
It's that time of year again with the crispness in the air, the leaves starting to turn, and the sound of Porsches driving thru the back roads of Southern Indi-ana. Yes that's right, we're heading to Huber's Winery to meet up with the CIR group for an afternoon of fun. We've also extended an invitation to the SIR and the Bluegrass Regions. That way, we'll have 80 plus Porsches on the Win-ery's Lawn. We're leaving a little earlier so we can add some more scenic roads to past years route. Hope everyone can make it.
Any question you can contact Steve McCombs @ 558-0306

Cars n Coffee By Steven Rountree
Cars n Coffee is always held on the second Saturday from 9-11AM in the parking lot of the Prospect Pointe Shopping Center on US Hwy 42 where the Java Brewing Co. is located. This casual meeting involves anyone interested in all types of cars. It's a free event, however it is a benefit for Dystonia, so please make a donation and/or buy some coffee to support the cause. It is weather-pending, but only depending on what conditions you're willing to bring out your Porsche. Just show-up whenever you can. September had a very good turnout so I would suspect that October will be the same.Who knows, maybe some of us will go for a drive afterwards?

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 2011By Steven Rountree
I had the fortunate opportunity to attend the 61st Annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 21, 2011. This event is held on the famed 18th fairway leading up to the Club House and was in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the automobile. Mercedes-Benz was the featured marque along with Italian motor-cycles. Edward Herrmann was the Master of Ceremonies, whom we've seen and heard during both the Keeneland and Churchill Downs Concours. Jay Leno did some speaking and entertaining toward the end of the afternoon. One familiar entrant was the beautiful blue-green Dual-Ghia from Lexington, KY that was shown at Keeneland in 2010. Porsche was very well represented with some exceptional show pieces: the new GT3 RS 4.0, 1973 Carrera RS, Brumos 935, GT3 Cup, GT1, an early 911S, GT3 RSR and the new 918 RSR Hybrid...not a bad line-up, indeed. Most everyone was well-dressed, some in vintage clothing, and hav-ing a really great time. The weather was over-cast and on the warm side, but the champagne was well-chilled!

We must drive in together at 10:00 am sharp (4th Street gate 5)...
The Club has 50 tickets on a first come basis for $10.00 each. You can contact Steven Rountree ahead of time for tickets or that morning up until 9:50 am. 502-386-3001

Saturday Morning Breakfast Social
The Saturday morning Breakfast Socials are held the first Saturday after the monthly KyPCA meetings. They are at the Frisch's just off the Watterson (I-264) and Poplar Level Road (exit 14) here in Louisville, first coffee is at 8am.
The only purpose is to get together with other Porsche owners for a very informal breakfast and BS session before starting the Saturday 'Honeydoos'.
The breakfast buffet at Frisch's is pretty good or you can order off the menu and they keep the coffee coming.
Don't forget to drive your Porsche, as we often have parking lot 'tech and admiration' sessions.
No reservations required, just show up.
