As a custom retail display manufacturer,

our busiest time of the year is right before the

big holiday roll outs for department stores.

Some retailers plan for months and months

beforehand in order to get their displays,

while others wait. It can be assumed that

some retailers wait to place their orders for

custom retail displays in order to see just how

much money consumers might spend this

year. According to RetailDive, retailers will

see just a modest bump in holiday spending,

with possible rise of 3.5% to 4% compared to

sales last year. Holiday e-commerce and

mail-order sales will also likely rise from

8.5% to 9% according to Deloitte’s annual

retail holiday sales forecast.

In 2014, sales rose in the areas of:

1. Building material and garden equipment

2. Clothing and clothing accessories

3. Electronics and appliance stores

4. Furniture and home furnishing stores

With Snapchat, you can increase community engagement and brand awareness through innovative marketing campaigns. There are also 100 million daily users and 400 million snaps taken per day. Here are 3 ways Snapchat could be utilized for your brand and business:

1. It can provide access to live events: Snapchat is perfect for real time social media marketing because it can give the audience direct access to behind-the-scenes footage as it happens. For example, during the 2014 Finals, the NBA posted a backstage video clip of Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell with San Antonio Spur Kawhi Leonard.

2. It delivers private content: You can use Snapchat to provide special content to your audience that they might not receive on other digital platforms. Fashion brands like Michael Kors have used Snapchat to debut their collections to followers before they hit the runway.

3. You can run contests, perks, or promotions: Everyone loves social media giveaways and promotions, so you have to think of new ways for your followers to come back for more. GrubHub succeeds in the Snapchat community by offering exclusive deals and contests. They actually were the first brand to execute a Snapchat scavenger hunt. This innovative campaign showcased GrubHub’s brand personality and while also created a two-way communication between the consumer and the brand.

The resources available to many businesses are often limited. Companies frequently struggle to get more productivity out

of every dollar that the business owners invest. Sharn Enterprises certainly values the resources available to us

from our local community colleges. One such resource is the Career Services Department within our local colleges; we

have used their services many times!

Help yourself and a young college student by filling a job with an intern. Programs are available to you that help pay a portion of their salary. Most of the interns work part time, so you can fill a needed job with as little as 10 to 12 paid hours

a week. These folks are young (but mature) enthusiastic, educated, and eager to learn! Save yourself some money and

time, be a small business “mentor.”

Sharn welcomes our newest interns Jonathan Hornichak & Tyler Schneider for the Fall 2015 Semester!
