    The US has submitted a list of 10 defence technologies for transfer to India, bringing it into a small group of closest allies with which America shares such sensitive details without export control. Indian sources have also confirmed this.

    BJP leader L K Advani has said that the Election Commission should convene an all-

    party meeting for a purposeful debate on the option of a negative vote to voters. In his latest blog, he however added that along with this provision, voting should be

    made mandatory. Mr Advani pointed out that 31 countries have compulsory voting but only a dozen of them actually enforce it by having deterrent provisions for

    citizens who fail to vote without any justified reason.

    Ahead of the talks with six major world powers over its nuclear program, Iran has said that it will not ship any of its enriched uranium abroad as part of a deal with

    world powers to ease sanctions. Irans top nuclear negotiator, Abbas Araghchi told that shipping the material abroad is Irans red line and it wont allow shipment of even one gram of uranium from Iran. Araghchi also said Iran will not withdraw one iota from its right to enrich uranium. His remarks were published on the website of

    the Iranian State Television. Araghchi also said his country's delegation and their U.S. counterparts will meet on the sideline of nuclear talks in Geneva.

    The P5+1 Group of five permanent members of UN Security Council, US, UK, France. Britain, Russia, China and Germany are scheduled to hold next round of

    talks with Iran over its controversial nuclear program in Geneva.

    Indian-American novelist Jhumpa Lahiri lost out on the Man Booker Prize to Eleanor Catton, who has become the youngest writer to win the prestigious literary prize in

    London. At 832 pages, Catton's The Luminaries was the longest novel described as an extraordinary 19th century gold rush murder mystery. Eleanor Catton is from

    Newzealand.

    "Eleanor Catton was presented with the coveted award worth 50,000

    pounds by Camilla Parker-Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, at a glittering ceremony in London's Guildhall. This year's chair of judges, writer and

    critic Robert Macfarlane, admitted that readers needed to make a "huge investment" in the huge tome, which is challenging with a slow start but

    the dividends were more than worth it. London-born Jhumpa Lahiri's 'The Lowland', a tale about two brothers brought up in Kolkata in the late

    The Arab envoys to the United Nations have called upon Saudi Arabia to reverse its decision to reject a temporary seat on the UN Security Council. In a statement, the

    Arab Group has lauded the role played by the Saudi Kingdom and urged it to continue to defend the Arab issues by taking the Security Council seat. Saudi

    Arabia won a two-year seat on the Security Council in a vote on October 17. But the very next day it rejected the seat citing the failure of the UN Security Council to

    take action on the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian issue. No country has ever previously been elected to the Security Council and not taken the seat. Meanwhile,

    Arab League Chief Nabil El Arabi has endorsed the stand taken by Saudi Arabia and said Security Council has failed to live up to its mandate.
