CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES

Dr. Amerigo Falciani, a radiologist with Atlantic Medical Imaging, gave a presentation to Mrs. Georges’ Advanced Anatomy & Physiology classes on Wednesday, February 10th. Students learned about the different modalities radiologists can currently use to image the

human body. Dr. Falciani also discussed what it takes to become a radiologist and a radiology technician. Lastly, the class was able to see new technology used in stents and filters that react to body temperature. We were grateful for such an exciting and informative presentation.

CLUB ACTIVITIES Thank you to everyone who came out on Thursday and supported our students at the annual

, benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network of Philadelphia as well as

Senior Scholarships for Key Club. Our event was able to raise $5,335 from ticket sales, refreshment sales, and donations. I’m extremely humbled by the amount of support, donations, and encouragement that we received. Not only did our performers work incredibly hard on their acts, but the Key Club students and volunteer Tech Crew went above and beyond by working on every last detail to put this talent show together to benefit a great cause. Watching our students interact together and support each other with their acts shows once again that our students are truly a class act. Our top winners are as follows: Tied for 1st place: Liam McMurray “We Are Young” – 3Oh3 (Yo-Yo Skit) Tied for 1st place: Harlee Cancelosi, Mackenzie Kitchen, Danielle Lloyd, Erica Rolls, Mia Romeo. Featuring: Alyssa Preis, Amy Depasquale, Michele Dill, Kelly Halliday, Lisa O’Neil, David Ulrich, Dan Weaver (no, he did not vote for himself ) Medley of Songs from Justin Bieber and Missy Elliott – (Student/Dance Battle) 2nd Runner-Up: Soundwave Song & Dance Company Karen Greenwood, Natalie Katshiff, Nicole Kraner, Alanna Palombo, Alexis Riddiough, Xiola Surgie, Stella Swartz, Natalie Viso, Megan Wilmot, Jesse Wriggins, Sammie Wright, Melody Young “White Winter hymnal” – (Acapella Group) People’s Choice: Minh Vu and Eddie McLaughlin “Sweater Weather” – The Neighborhood (Vocal & Guitar) If you see Joe Clifford & Jeff Hoffner in the halls, make sure you give them a pat on that back, as they were our hilarious hosts who entertained the audience the entire evening. A huge thanks to administration and all of the teachers who took the time to volunteer at our event; we couldn’t have done it without your help. Also, thank you to those teachers who showed off their talents in the Teacher/Student Dance, as well as our special guest singer, Terri Brennan, who played a beautiful rendition of “La Bamba” on her acoustic guitar while singing to the eager crowd. I would also like to extend a SPECIAL thank you to Steve Trauger for managing the Stage and Tech crew during all of the auditions, rehearsals, and the final performance. Finally, thank you to Gail Pendleton, Herb Snyder and the custodial staff for all of their support and hard work.

Mirrorless Monday: all mirrors in the school will be covered with red paper and a positive quote written across it.

Rebound Tuesday: Students will be able to ‘shred’ a negative thought or word and pick up a positive quote to replace the negativity.

Weightless Wednesday: No scales will be available to weight oneself.

Imagine a world, where people look out for each other. Where we all pay it forward. Where success is measured in selfless acts. Where kindness is the philosophy of life. February 16th-19th was National Random Acts of Kindness Week. Mrs. Cathcart & Mrs. McMaster’s

Peer to Peer Group started off the week by hanging posters around the school to

remind students that sometimes the kindest, simplest acts can make someone’s day. The students also made announcements each morning giving Ocean City High School little reminders on ways to be kind to people you know and people you don’t know. The students also made each custodian, secretary, and support staff a personal note and goodie bag to help make their morning more special. The group also traveled down to Mrs. Libro, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Naplacic’s third grade classes. They presented a video (“The Life Vest Kindness Boomerang- ‘One Day’”) and PowerPoint on Random Acts of Kindness. They then worked one-on-one with third graders on the activity the “Gift of Kindness” creating a classroom book for each participating third grade class.
