Crab Fact Book

Crabs live in the ocean and on

land.

Robber crabs are able to climb

trees.

Fish Fact Book Fish are vertebrate animals (a spine

covered by cartilage).

Fish have gills that extract oxygen

from around them.

Some flatfish use camouflage to hide themselves on the

ocean floor.

Lobster Fact Book

Lobster aren’t red. They are green,

yellow or blue. They turn red when

cooked.

Lobsters shed their shells or molt.

Lobsters can swim forward and backward.

Octopus Fact Book

Octopus have 8 long legs

(tentacles).

An octopus can re-grow a tentacle if it

loses one.

Two rows of suckers line their

tentacles for taste.

bodies invertebrate with a shell).

An octopus has a beak to open up their food (crabs

Shark Fact Book

Sharks have been around for about 400 million years.

Sharks range in size from 6 inches

to 45 feet.

Sharks have the most powerful jaws

on the planet.

A shark can grow and use 20,000

teeth in its lifetime.

If a shark loses a tooth, another spins

Sharks skin is made of denticles instead

of scales.

Sharks eat about 10 people a year, but people kills thousands of sharks a year.

Clam Fact Book

A clam is a mollusk that lives on the sand or in the

water.

A clam has no head, mouth, legs, or

arms.

Clams are made up of two shells and a

soft inner body.

The clam shells are connected by an

elastic hinge (like a ligament).

Whale Fact Book

Whales are mammals (babies grown inside the

mother).

Whales breathe air and need to come

up to the surface to get air.

To breathe, whales have a blowhole at

the top of their head.
