NEWS RELEASE November 16, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Occupy London statement and response London, ON – November 16, 2011 – We, Occupy London, in solidarity with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the Ontario Federation of Labour, the London and District Labour Council, the London Ontario Chapter-Council of Canadians and other concerned individuals, organizations, businesses, and Occupy movements, express our concerns about the actions taken by Mayor Joe Fontana, on behalf of the City of London, that place municipal bylaws over and above individual rights and freedoms as stated and protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms s.2: Fundamental freedoms 2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms: a. freedom of conscience and religion; b. freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication; c. freedom of peaceful assembly; and d. freedom of association. These freedoms are enforceable by the courts and can be held against all levels of government. Therefore we, Occupy London, have the following demands and requests for the City of London and Mayor Joe Fontana: Demands: 1. The immediate return of all of the tents and supplies that police have taken from the occupation site. 2. Full pardons for individuals who have been arrested for occupying public parks. 3. Full apologies from the City of London for: a. destroying belongings at the occupation site; b. taking belongings from the occupation site; c. evicting the Victoria Park occupation; and d. the arrests after the eviction. 4. Full financial compensation from the City of London for all of the items that were destroyed in the garbage trucks, and for all of the other expenses incurred during the eviction. Requests: 1. The removal of the by-law against people who enter and use public parks between 10pm and 6am. 2. The removal of all other policies that interfere with peaceful assemblies in public parks. In addition, we would like to state that there has been some misrepresentation of the

Occupy London movement with regards to a donation bank account (please refer to photo below); we would like to state that we do not have, nor have we ever, had an account for donations. We are in the process of opening an account and when that is in place, we will inform the public.

Occupy London stands in solidarity with other Occupy movements around the world. Occupy everything!
