In AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem mine, there have

been records of incidents due to unsafe behaviours

and conditions .This unsafe behaviour has resulted in injuries and

damage of properties.

Therefore, there is an imperative need to maintain

safe acts and conditions at the workplace.

measures taken to establish and maintain health

and safety at AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem mine.The project, furthermore seeks to make suggestions

A secondary data on incident report in 2008, 2009,

and 2011 was collected from the health and safety

department at AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem mine.The main focus was on first aid injuries, dressing case

injuries, lost time injuries, restricted work injuries and

fatalities.

From the analysis of data, it can be concluded that

the health and safety management system adopted

by AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem mine is good.

There were no fatalities recorded.

The workers who do not compromise on poor safety

practices should be duly rewarded not only in cash but also

acknowledge through the media to encourage the other

employees.

Both internal and external safety auditing must be

conducted unannounced in order to increase compliance

level so as to produce the best results.

Workers who do not comply on safety rules should be

sanctioned immediately without compromise.
