With the leaves falling and all the beautiful colors surrounding us we must remember each season brings with it a gift and that to experience change is a blessing. This change season gives reason to harvest, not just crop, but all of our wonderful ideas and memories. Take this time to breathe in the crisp autumn air, to jump in the leaves, and let your creativity shine. Do not fret over the loss of summer, instead remember the heated flash and balance your self now in preparation for the upcoming months of hustling in the cold.
WORDS FROM THE… Consistory Vice President by Rick Veldkamp
One of the main items for the Consistory was to choose a Search Committee to help in calling a new pastor. A team of seven members was chosen and they will be asked if they are willing to serve on the committee. When the team is finalized they will be presented to the congregation. They will begin the work of completing a church profile and submitting that to the denominational office. Pastors who want to be considered will submit resumes to the Search Committee and they will determine who will be interviewed. Please keep the Search Committee in your prayers as they go through this process.

A Call To Members:
NOTES FROM THE LIBRARY by Sharon Hegge
In this “INSTANT” age, there are still some individuals who want to hold a book in their hands while they read. The Library in our church has a variety of books available: Historical Fiction: credible authors who diligently research their topic, and are for recreational reading and to educate us. Contemporary Fiction: deals with issues of today; which is helpful, especially if one is going through a similar issue. Biographies and Autobiographies are so valuable in teaching us what others have done and are doing; which inspire us to step out of our comfort zone. We also have many series that follow generations and are popular, giving us glimpses into history. Our Library has many books by well-‐known authors as well: Lynn Austin is an author who excels in historical and contemporary issues.

Jerry Jenkins has a number of books that are suspenseful. Robert Whitlock is another author with complex plots and suspense. Jane Kirkpatrick is an award-‐winning author and focuses on woman who were working against society’s norms to trail blaze the way for others. Photography, botany, and women’s rights are a few of the topics she addresses. Stop in the Library and browse. You are encouraged to check book out too. The process to check out a book is as easy as taking the card out of the book you wish to use, sign your name, date it for one month and place the card in the basket on the West wall/countertop. Suggestions for new books are always welcome.
YOUTH ADVENTURES…
RCYF: by Ryan Feltman The Sr. High Youth group will be taking a trip to Planet Wisdom in Minneapolis, MN on December 6-‐7. This event is a great opportunity for students to grow their faith by hearing from great speakers like Mark Matlock, skits by The Skit Guys, and music by The Chris Coleman Band. The weekend will cost $75 per student, which will cover event registration, hotel and travel. The only other expense will be food and shopping money.
Registration is due October 23rd.
Sunday School by Pam Van Zee
Sunday school is off to a great start. The kids are having fun singing and participating in large groups, which is followed by time in the classrooms with small group. We completed the fall curriculum titled "Gods Game Plan" and just started our Christmas curriculum titled "Under The Tree". Speaking of Christmas, can you believe Christmas is just 63 days away! With that in mind, we will be starting Christmas Program practice in just a few short weeks. Practices will be held on the following dates: Sunday, November 24 at 10:45-‐11:45am Wednesday, December 4 at 6:30-‐7:30pm Sunday, December 8 at 10:45-‐11:45am Wednesday, December 11 at 6:30-‐7:30pm Sunday, December 15 at 10:45-‐11:45am The Christmas program is scheduled for Sunday, December 15 at 6:30pm. Kids Club: by Joslyn Nelson
Grade school children are enjoying the activities at Kids Club each Wednesday night and with 20 to 25 kids attending each week they seem to be excited about what is happening at Kids Club!
Grandma Judy teaches the children songs and it is fun to hear their voices sing praises to God each week. This past Wednesday, the kids learned a new song titled, "Only a Boy Named David," which fits well with our lessons about King David.
The kids are still enjoying story time taught by Grandma LeeAnn. They listen attentively so they are able to interact and answer questions during the review game. I heard one girl tell LeeAnn, "Story time is my favorite part! I think the stories are interesting!"
Grandma Karen prepares fun crafts for the kids each week, which they all thoroughly enjoy. You can sense the children's anticipation each week, as to what new craft Karen has planned for them! Each child works very hard to learn their memory verse each week. I am sure many of you have noticed the sticker chart on the door near the kitchen. The sticker chart is for each time a child says their memory verse. After 4 stickers, the child gets to pick out a prize, which they get very excited about! We have had some fun and yummy snacks prepared by ladies in the church. Thank you SO much for sharing with us! The kids look forward to these treats! It has been very exciting to see so many kids excited about Wednesday nights and what a blessing to have so many learning about Jesus. Remember kids; you can bring your friends so they can have fun with you at Kids Club too!
COMMUNITY and PRAYER
ELEVATE: by Worship Pastor Ben Cochran With the fall finally arriving, and harvest time at hand, I feel like a farming metaphor from Scripture would be only appropriate.
Galatians 6:8-‐10 (New International Version)
“8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
Our prayer in Elevate, and for the whole church, is that we continue to sow to please the Spirit; that we would be a place where true-‐life change takes place! Let’s continue church to abide in the True Vine, Jesus Christ, and find life, and peace, and joy. Let us not grow weary in planting seeds and doing good for each other, knowing Christ will lead our loved ones, friends, and coworkers to Him in His time.
If you haven’t heard, Elevate meets on Sunday nights in the Fellowship Hall. We come together to praise Jesus with songs, hymns, and spiritual songs, thanking Jesus for all He has done in our lives! These next couple of weeks we are giving the opportunity for those in the body to share what the Spirit has spoken to them in their own quiet times throughout the week, or how different “Life Verses” have helped shape who they are, or how these verses have helped them through different seasons of life. So come and join us!
“O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
— Micah 6:8
Sometimes we think our purpose in this life must be only one specific thing. In light of Micah 6:8, what do you think God’s purpose is for you?
Did you know the word “purpose” comes from the Anglo-‐Norman word “purposer”? "Pur" meaning forth and “poser” meaning to put. You could say our purpose is what we “put forth.”
What are you putting forth?
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
— Ephesians 2:10
At some point, all of us wonder, “What is my purpose here on earth?” and you're not the only one who’s thought about that. “Long ago” God thought about you and planned good things for you to accomplish.
That's pretty cool. You're not an accident; you’re a masterpiece. But not just a masterpiece that hangs on a wall in a museum. You’re a masterpiece who God has big plans for.
Think of your life as a work of art.
What do you think God wants to accomplish through his artistry in you?
Bountiful Baskets by AliceAnn Krantz
What is Bountiful Baskets?
Bountiful Baskets is a not-‐for-‐profit food co-‐op for families that wish to have fresh produce for less money. BBFC is a group of people who work together for mutual benefits and is a grassroots, all-‐volunteer, no contracts, no catch co-‐operative. Since there are no employees at Bountiful Baskets, the group pays rock bottom prices on food. This also means that the co-‐op would not happen without volunteers.
How do you participate in Bountiful Baskets?
In order to participate an account must be set up. This is free and must be done online at bountifulbaskets.org. Making a contribution is sometimes referred to as “ordering”, but this is not accurate as we are contributing and
participating. Bountiful Baskets is not a business that you buy from, rather a co-‐op where participants contribute funds; which is pooled together to buy items. Feel free to check out the website and be sure to access the links for “New Participant Instructions” and “Information”.
Where do I contribute?
Our local site is at the Fire Hall in Trent. The Trent site is an “A” week. This means that the opportunity to participate is every other week on a Saturday. To reserve a basket, it must be done online for a small fee. Contributions are accepted online during the “A” week, beginning Monday at 10AM for South Dakota and ending at 8PM Tuesday night or when the baskets have all been spoken for, whichever is sooner. Currently, the Trent location has an 8AM volunteer time and a 9AM pickup time.
Contributing also consists of volunteering occasionally, which includes a smile and a helping hand. Opportunities included preparing baskets, breaking down boxes, assisting with distribution and packing up. Volunteering for Bountiful Baskets takes very little time but is what allows our co-‐op to be so successful!
What are the upcoming dates?
Contribute: October 21st Volunteer/Pickup: October 26 Contribute: November 4th Volunteer/Pickup: November 9th
I am so excited to be able to help bring this to our area! I am currently the VSC for the Trent site and would love to have you join us in contributing. Check out our local Facebook page: Moody County Food Co-‐Op. Our website will provide updates on drop times, helpful hints on how to use your produce and other great information. We hope to see you in Trent soon!
VICTORY in DONATING:
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." (RSV)
Our world was created by a loving God who calls us to care for and sustain it. Much can be done to help save our beautiful earth.
The average person generates over 4 pounds of trash every day and about 1.5 tons of solid waste per year. Over 75% of waste is recyclable, but we recycle about 30% of it. Americans throw away 25 million plastic bottles every hour. If every American recycles 1/10 of their newspapers we could save about 25 million trees.
Over 87% of Americans have access to curbside or drop-‐off recycling programs. In 2010, paper recycling had increased over 89% since 1990. Help is needed to continue the trend.
Why recycle? It reduces pollution, reduces the need for landfills, reduces litter, cares and sustains our earth.
How can you help? The Dell Rapids Lions Club collects all paper goods the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at 3rd St. and Orleans Avenue. Proceeds for this project and other Lions Club projects are used within the community through youth scholarships, support to our community and donations to several organizations in Dell Rapids. (www.dellrapidslions.org)
Did you know that our church donates old magazines and plastic containers to The Banquet in Sioux Falls? Feel free to drop off these items outside the office door!

An email was sent to the address on file seeking your permission to submit your email address to the RCW booklet for 2014. If you did not receive an email, please contact the office as it means that your information is not on the Prayer Chain contact or the information on file is not valid.
