Observation One: Season One Episode One Days Gone Bye

3:00 We see an unnamed Sheriffs Deputy coming up on a abandoned gas station. He searches

for gas seeming confused as to where everyone has gone. nstead he comes up upon a !itt!e gir!

with the right side of her right "aw ripped off. #he gir! then attempts to charge at him as theunnamed deputy pu!!s his handgun and shoots her in the head$ %i!!ing her.

&:00'(3:(&) We !earn the Deputys name is *ic% +rimes. *ic% and his fe!!ow deputy ShaneWa!sh are sitting in their po!ice cruiser having a bite to eat and discussing the differences

between men and women. Whi!e this is going on we !earn that *ic% is having marriage prob!ems

with his wife ,ori$ as they finish the conversation a ca!! comes over the radio re-uesting their

support in a high pursuit chase. s *ic% and Shane arrive at the scene they !ay down a spi%e stripand what for the crimina!s to approach. /nce they do$ the crimina!s hit the strip which causes the

crimina!s car to f!ip mu!tip!e times. s *ic% and other deputies approach the vehic!e *ic% is shot

by one of the men. He fades out of consciousness as Shane ca!!s for an ambu!ance.

(:00'1&:00 s *ic% wa%es up from his coma he immediate!y notices that something is very

wrong. !! of the e!ectricity is out and there are no nurses tending to him. n fact$ there isntanybody in the hospita! at a!!. *ic% stumb!es around and finds bu!!et ho!es in the wa!!s$ b!ood

stains$ and a door that reads 2Dont /pen Dead nside then we see a very pa!e$ unc!ean$ hand

reaching through the chained door. *ic% finds his way outside on!y to be mortified that the entirepar%ing !ot is fu!! of mi!itary sty!e vehic!es 4Huey 1he!icopters andHumvees 25 and do6ens of

dead bodies in bags. *ic% finds a bicyc!e and pic%s it up beside a ha!f dismembered corpse. #o

his horror the corpse turns around and hisses at him$ c!awing whi!ing chomping its teeth. *ic%

f!ees from the scene in fear and returns to his house. He finds it is empty as his son and wife areno where to be found. *ic% -uestions his sanity by as%ing himse!f if he is rea!!y e7periencing

this$ or if it is a!! "ust a dream.

1:00'3:00) *ic% is assau!ted by a boy named Dwaine and his father 8organ. s *ic% s!ips into

unconsciousness 8organ ho!d a gun to his head and demands to %now if he is bit or not. *ic%

wa%es up tied to a bed and is immediate!y interrogated by 8organ as%ing him if he is bit yetagain. *ic% denies this insisting that it is on!y a gunshot he caught whi!e in the !ine of duty.

8organ re!eases *ic% but promises to %i!! him if he posses a threat to either 8organ or Dwaine.

Whi!e having dinner with the two of them$ 8organ e7p!ains to *ic% about the Walkers 3. #he

peop!e who the po!ice$ government$ and mi!itary did not 2%i!!. Whi!e having a friend!ydiscussion and debate about how *ic% was shot the three are start!ed when a wa!%er runs into a

car$ causing its a!arm to trigger. Dwaine sudden!y runs to the cot and begins to cry hysterica!!y at
