Elementary SchoolHome of the Dragons
The Folsom Cordova Unified School District fosters the
safety, success, and wellness of all students by creating a positive school
culture and celebrating the power of diversity and differences. Our schools,
students, families, and employees will treat each other with respect, and
refuse to tolerate behavior that causes harm. Hateful and discriminatory
actions or words – which target a person’s actual or perceived race, ethnicity,
culture, heritage, gender, sex, sexual orientation, immigration status,
socioeconomic status, physical/mental attributes, or religious beliefs or
practices - will not be tolerated in our school communities.
Oak Chan Elementary School
Our vision is to engage, inspire, and empower a community of caring learners in critical thinking, collaborating, problem-solving, innovating, and preparing for college and career readiness.
Our mission is to provide a well-rounded education for all students (academically, emotionally, and behaviorally) through clearly defined standards and high expectations. This will be achieved by:
• Learning through a unique, experiential, hands-on, and collaborative process;
• Inspiring creative, critical, and analytical thinking;
• Providing a rigorous and technologically enhanced curriculum;
• Creating educational opportunities for students that will broaden their experience and meet future school and work force needs;
• Assisting our children to become globally competitive in the world economy;
• Supporting school-wide Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) enrichment;
• Utilizing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS): an approach for teaching children appropriate behavior and providing the supports necessary to sustain that behavior;
• Encouraging parents and community partners to be involved through our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization), School Site Council, and classroom/site volunteer program.

Each OC teacher has their own unique way of connecting with
students, presenting information, and covering the standards. Similar
to in-person instruction, there will be similarities and differences in
regards to content, assignments, activities, and schedules. While each
grade level team consistently collaborates with one another, there
are varied circumstances that prohibit identical lesson plans. Our
teachers will be instituting what they believe to be the best for your
child(ren).
Synchronous time may be a mix of live interaction,
recorded instruction, small groups, and independent work.
❏ Grading and work completion are taking place during Distance
Learning
❏ Attendance: Daily participation is required
❏ Parent Communication: Please try to avoid disrupting the
teacher with questions during instructional time (synchronous).
Use the asynchronous time (1:00-2:00pm) to communicate with
the teacher.
❏ It is imperative to protect the safety and confidentiality of our
students and staff. Parents and students are not permitted to
photograph or record during online instruction.
