Our Olive Oil comes from a family estate in Spain called Soler Romero, which has been produc- ing award-winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil since 1850. The very same Olive Oil that we use in our products is used in our kitchens, and by Michelin Star- awarded chefs in France and Spain. All Olive Oils are not created equal. “Cosmet- ics Grade” Olive Oil, for example, is often chemically extracted (after the olives have already been pressed a couple of times), and not suitable for human consump- tion. We don’t know about you, but we don’t want to put that on our skin! Soler Romero processes their olives on their estate with- in 2 hours of harvesting. And they produce their own natural, organic fertilizer from the by-products of har- vesting and pressing (branches, leaves, water, and olive pulp). This closes the production circle by recycling all by-products and increasing biodiversity – all while cov- ering the fertilizing needs of their olives. Every year Badger uses over 10,000 gallons of this olive oil which equates to 10,000 trees ecologically cultivated! What is it? USDA Certified Organic.

What is it? Certified Natural

Who regulates it? The Natural Products Association.

Since the USDA does not regulate how natural a product is, the Natural Products Association put forth a certification that

verifies whether a product can be deemed truly “natural.” This seal lets you know that Badger products are natural, safe, responsible, and sustainable. Learn more at www.npainfo.org

The Badger® STOry

The Badger® Way

“Back in the winter of 1993, I was a carpenter with cracked

fingers. I spent much of my time banging nails outside in some

pretty harsh New England conditions. I also loved working

with herbs and natural remedies. This turned out to be a

fortunate coincidence: as fate would have it, I went into my

kitchen and made up a batch of what later became Badger

Healing Balm. It healed my fingers and a business was born.

I was going to call the first product “Bear Paw” but the name

was already taken! At first I was disappointed, but then the name “Badger” came to

me, as if in a dream, and I knew it was the right choice. The Badger is a healing totem:

The Root Gatherer, with a deep knowledge of the secrets of the root and herb kingdoms;

fierce and effective in defense of the self and family, and persistent in overcoming obstacles,

successfully seeing projects through to the end.”

What’s Next: The Badger Ecology Center

We moved into our fine new building in September of 2011 and things are humming along. This spring, we devoted some of our attention to the task of restoring the land around our new building. When we found this place, it was a depleted sand pit, so our ongoing task is to build soil fertility and great natural beauty. We are creating a Badger Ecology Center; planting blueberries, fruit and nut trees, cover crops, and a variety of vegetables for our company lunch. The Ecology Center hosts seminars throughout the year on topics such as “Building Dynamic Soil Fertility” and “Biodynamic Beekeeping,” all with the intent of helping our community learn how to live closer to the earth. Check out our website (www.badgerbalm.com) for seminar details, and plan a visit to Badger this year!

Then

Now

Our Philosophy of Formulation“We create products for people we love and give them to the world.”

“Our philosophy flows from the ground up. We believe in using botanical ingredients that are grown

in healthy soil and processed simply without the use of chemicals. Ingredients like these are filled with

life force. They make for better products, for healthier people, and for a healthier planet.”

-Badger Bill

Nowadays, it is common for companies to create products based on market studies, “target consumers,” and projected sales.

We won’t do that. Here at Badger, when we formulate products, we think about making them for someone we love. We carefully blend the most precious ingre-dients in small batches, combining time-honored traditional remedies with our own understanding of herbs and botanicals. Next, we try out our new creations by giving them to family, friends and co-workers. When they are completely delighted and amazed, we know we’re on to something good! Then we put the product through testing to make sure it meets our rigorous safety and efficacy standards. When the product is just right in aroma, feel, and effectiveness, we share it with the world.

BADGER®

Bill & Katie

Badger creates healthy personal care products using only powerfully pure, naturally processed minerals and botanicals brimming with life-force. We begin with fresh, whole herbs, flowers, fruits, roots, and their fragrant essences. We blend them into creamy, dreamy, super-concentrated “Agents of Good.” Our elegantly simple,

amazingly effective blends are formulated to nourish your skin and delight your senses, every day, safely and naturally.

Badger Business is an extension of my and Katie’s lifelong commit-ment to living simply and naturally. As an overriding principle, we do our best to be kind and considerate in all that we do. This consideration extends to the growers of our certified organic ingredients, to our valued customers, and to the way we treat each other here at Badger. As an extension of this philosophy, we feel that the products we make should be powerfully pure and completely safe, as well as being soothing, effective and naturally fragrant.

Best regards,Badger Bill for the Badgers

Our MissionTo create fabulously pure and effective products of the highest natural quality,

based on simplicity and thoughtful preparation, with the intention

to soothe and heal.

To run a business that is fun, fair and profitable; where money is a fuel, not a goal; and where our vision for a healthier world finds expression

through the way we work and through the way we treat each other and

the people we serve.
