Higher ed preservation information – Governor and Senate allow cost to be paid through each 4-year’s appropriation for preventive maintenance based on sf inspected. House appropriates $300K to OFM from the universities building accts.

BEST studies – Puget Sound Skill Center, Lake Sammamish State Park, Olympic College; general authorization to OFM.

BUILDING A BETTER BUDGET

Project proposals should have clear narrative justification. • Stay away from boilerplate language.• Provide clear description of project justification and benefits.

Is the request for design only or design and construction?• If for design only, request should cover only the design services. Construction

management should be requested when construction funds are requested.

Identify operating costs both one-time and ongoing.

Projects of $5 million or more require predesigns and design.

Bond fund and cash flow estimates are required.

Updated minor works project lists are required.
