AirTrain JFK

The cheaper, faster, eco-friendly airport connection

AirTrain JFK is the easiest way to travel to, from and around Kennedy International Airport. AirTrain connects with MTA New York City Transit subways and buses and the Long Island Rail Road, providing a low-cost way to travel by mass transit to major destinations in New York and New Jersey. Best of all, you never have to worry about traffic and can lower your carbon footprint.

Travel around the airport: Take AirTrain free

AirTrain makes frequent stops everywhere around the airport: airline terminals, parking lots, hotel shuttle areas and rental car facilities. What's more, every AirTrain ride around the airport is free. The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

AirTrain system. Disembark the train at the Sutphin Blvd/Archer Av/JFK station. Follow the signs to AirTrain and swipe your AirTrain MetroCard to enter the system. Travel time via subway and AirTrain is approximately 60–75 minutes from midtown Manhattan to JFK. AirTrain travels to JFK from Jamaica Station every 15 minutes and will take you to your airline terminal.

NYC Airporter

Departure roughly every 30 minutes - Bus Terminal, Grand Central Station and Penn Station. Fare is $16. Purchase tickets online at www.NYCAirporter.com. For more information, call (718) 777-5111.

NYC Bus Service to and from JFK

Three NYC bus routes operated by the MTA provide direct service between the airport and nearby neighborhoods. These buses stop on the roadway adjacent to Terminal 5, and can be accessed via a free on-airport AirTrain trip to the Terminal 5/6 station. The bus fare is $2.50 (MetroCard or exact change required), except for $2.75 when a single-ride ticket is purchased. For information and schedules, call 511, (888) GO511NY, or visit the MTA website. The three local bus routes include:

Q10 Bus: Local service to Queens. Connect to NYC subway train A at Lefferts Blvd. and E and F at Kew Gardens.

Q3 Bus: Local service to Queens. Connect at 169th St. and Hillside Ave. for NYC subway train F.

B15 Bus: Local service to East New York. Connect at New Lots and Livonia Aves for NYC subway trains 3 and 4.

Please note: Free transfers between bus and subway and between subway and bus are available. Valid only with MetroCard. A $1 new card fee will apply to new MetroCard purchases from the vending machines. New card fee does not apply to MetroCard refills and MetroCards bought from authorized merchants. Taxi, Car and Van Service

Safety Tip: Ignore offers of transportation from solicitors in the terminal. Soliciting of ground transportation is illegal

and many illegal solicitors are unlicensed and uninsured. To obtain ground transportation information, please visit the Port Authority Welcome Center located in the arrivals area of each terminal, where uniformed staff will be happy to assist you. Alternately, you may head directly for the taxi stand located outside each terminal for safe and legitimate transportation. Ignore non-uniformed people offering to assist with baggage. Seek out uniformed porters or airline employees for baggage assistance.

Important Tips:

Tipping is customary for good service.

There is a $1.00 peak time surcharge for trips from 4 PM to 8PM on weekdays (except for JFK-Manhattan $52 Flat Fare trip).

There is a 50-cent surcharge for trips from 8PM to 6AM daily (except for JFK-Manhattan $52 Flat Fare trip). There is also a NY State tax of 50 cents added to trips within New York, but not for trips to NJ.

One fare pays for all passengers to one destination.

Four passengers (five in minivans) is the limit for New York City cabs.

Meter must read $3.00 at the start of the trip (except for JFK-Manhattan $52 Flat Fare trips).

Sample Fares from John F. Kennedy International Airport:

These samples do not include tolls or tips.

Between JFK and Manhattan -- Flat Fare is $52 to the first destination (plus tolls and tip). The taximeter and receipt should reflect that this trip is a flat fare. There is no $1 peak time or 50-cent night surcharge for these trips.*

Nassau/Westchester, NY: The amount on the meter from JFK to NYC boundary PLUS double the amount from the

city boundary to final destination.

Connecticut/Suffolk/New Jersey/north and west of Westchester County: Price is negotiated between

passsenger and driver at the start of the trip.

*Flat Fare Policy: If passengers request multiple destinations within Manhattan, the fare is $52 to the first

passenger's destination. Thereafter, the meter will be engaged and a new trip and fare occurs.

Public Transit Services

New York City buses provide service between LaGuardia and Manhattan and Queens with connections to New York City subways for destinations beyond.

For service between LaGuardia and Manhattan, the M60 bus goes to 106th and Broadway via 125th Street in Manhattan and Astoria Blvd. in Queens. Key connections include the N and Q subway trains at Hoyt Avenue/31st Street; the 4, 5, and 6 subway trains at Lexington Avenue; and the Metro-North Railroad at Park Avenue.

For service beween LaGuardia and western Queens or Midtown Manhattan, take the new Q70 Limited or Q47 buses. Connections to the E, F, M, R and 7 trains on the New York City subway are available at Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street. For service to Astoria, Queens, use the M60 bus and transfer to the N or Q subway trains at Hoyt Avenue/31st Street.

For service between LaGuardia and central Queens, use the Q72 (Corona and Rego Park) and Q48 (Flushing) bus routes.

The bus fare is $2.50 (MetroCard or exact change required), except $2.75 whenever a single-ride ticket is purchased. MetroCard vending machines are available at most terminals within the airport. For passengers using the MetroCard, free transfers are available between buses and subways.

AirTrain is a simpler, easier way to get to, from, and around Newark Liberty International Airport. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, AirTrain provides easy connections to NJ Transit and the rail lines that run on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line.

AirTrain also offers a simple way for passengers to get to and from Manhattan and points north, or Philadelphia and points south. It also connects passengers to airline terminals, rental car facilities, hotel shuttles and central parking lots. Best of all, you never have to worry about traffic conditions.

To & From Newark

Getting to and from Newark on AirTrain is fast and easy. AirTrain Newark provides easy connections to and from NJ TRANSIT, PATH and Amtrak through one gateway: Newark Liberty International Airport Station. Customers may purchase a ticket to ride on AirTrain from NJ Transit or Amtrak at their train stations, ticket offices or ticketing machines and the AirTrain Newark fee will be included - one ticket does it all.

AirTrain is free for on-airport travel and makes frequent stops around the airport including airline terminals, parking lots, hotel shuttle areas and rental car facilities. Payment is made at Airport Station to enter or exit the system. Take AirTrain to Airport Station to connect to NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak.

If you’re departing from NYC Penn Station or Newark, take NJ TRANSIT or Amtrak to Newark Liberty International Airport Station. It takes about five minutes to get from AirTrain to the train platforms and between seven and 11 minutes to get to your terminal, depending on the terminal.

AirTrain Schedules

AirTrain arrives and departs every three minutes from 5 a.m. to midnight and approximately every 15 minutes between midnight and 5 a.m. On Sundays, the train arrives and departs approximately every 15 minutes from midnight to 7 a.m. Nighttime operation is a shuttle service which requires transfer of trains. Shuttles generally run Airport Station to P4, P4 to Terminal A and Terminal A to P1. For more information, see AirTrain Newark Map.

Travel Times to Passenger Terminals

Travel times from Newark Liberty International Airport Station to passenger terminals vary.

Terminal C - 7 min.

Terminal B - 9 min.

Terminal A - 11 min.

For terminal-to-terminal transfers to catch connecting flights, please allow sufficient time to go through security checks at the next terminal.

Via NJ TRANSIT

New York Penn Station: 30 min.

NJ TRANSIT

On weekdays, between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., at least six NJ TRANSIT trains arrive every hour at the airport station. Between 9 p.m. and midnight, four trains arrive every hour.

Amtrak

Amtrak service on the Northeast Corridor runs approximately every hour between the Airport Station, New York City and Philadelphia. Amtrak also runs hourly service to New York City with some trains continuing
