Protein concentrates are able to supply the necessary building materials to damaged structures and support new muscle growth, if protein is inadequate, your body is forced to find protein from somewhere else and this can result in your body breaking down muscle to fulfil its protein needs.

Protein concentrates should be used at least one hour after training and then during the day as a snack between your main meals depending on your diet composition. When protein sources are low your body will enter starvation mode. Once this happens, your body will use muscle tissue for fuel, therefore this will increase the fat storing hormones and your metabolism will decrease.

Proteins that are used in the production of protein products come from various sources e.g. egg whites, milk, soya, wheat, whey, etc. The key element for protein utility and digestibility is the source of proteins and the technology by which they are manufactured. The biological value of proteins depends on the content of essential amino acids and protein digestibility (the so called the biologically complex). Fully valued proteins contain all the necessary amino acids that are presented in the correct ratio and the required amount.

Proteins Protein is the basic building blocks used in the human body. To maintain the amount of active body mass or to provide muscle mass growth it is necessary to consume a sufficient amount of quality protein. Protein products (protein concentrates) are characterized by having a high content % of protein (from 50% to 95%).

Physically active people have higher protein needs than people having a less active lifestyle. The minimum amount of proteins that should be consumed during the day is 0.5g per 1kg of body weight. Inactive people should ideally consume 0.7g per 1kg of body weight each day. Athletes should have a higher intake of protein, Endurance athletes should consume about 1.2g to 1.7g of protein per 1kg of body weight and strength athletes should consume even more protein in the range of 1.6g to 1.9g per 1kg of body weight.

Carbohydrates-Protein products are generally referred to as GAINERS. They represent an optimum combination of quickly usable carbohydrates and easily digestible proteins intended for quality recovery support. These should be consumed immediately after exercise (within 30 minutes) in the so-called anabolic window and in the case of a very hard training day take another serving over the next two hour period.

Name: James Stretch

Occupation: Semi Pro Cyclist/ Semi pro businessman

Sporting History: I have played every sport under the sun as as a junior. Professional career: Sprint Kayaking for 4 years under the Australian Sport Commission. During my last two years as a sprint kayaker I brought a road bike for cross training. At the beginning of 2011 I crossed over into cycling fulltime. I never looked back.

Comments on Nutrend Products: They say when you are training you need to eat for tomorrow, not today. Nutrend products help me back up day after day and get every benefit out of my training. The range offers something for every nutritional need while training. I feel very proud to

be a representative of such a great product.

How does Nutrend compare with the other supplements? While sprint Kayaking I consumed kilo after kilo of protein powder. I have taken a vast range of products and when comparing them to the Nutrend range they are inferior in every way. I always look forward to my next Nutrend Protein shake. My favourite is the Wheycore55 Chocolate.

Athlete profile

JAMES Stretch (STRETCHY)

Protein has a thermogenic effect on the body. This means that every time you ingest protein your body must heat up to digest the protein source. This process requires an increase in calories, which can assist in reducing body fat over a period of time.

Studies have proven that consuming protein Post Workout can dramatically increase Recovery Speed, Fat loss and Muscle Toning.
