Hi Everyone, February has been a busy month with Club activities! From Super Bowl, Cars & Coffee, Daytona 500 to the Audit, Budget and By-Laws meetings taking place. At the March meeting updates will be given on the Audit, Budget and By-Laws Meetings.

The February Cars & Coffee once again increased because the word is getting out! As the weather improves, I expect more will come and visit our monthly event.

In March the annual Slide Show will take place. Event Chairman John Sabatucci will give an update on the event. The new and improved screen has been installed in the meeting room so the Slide Show will be great. Thanks to all involved in the Screen Project!

As I write this there are 166 days to Speed Week. I am heading back to work on the race car. As usual a small group of CSRA members will head West to help out, so the pressure is on to get her done! See you at the meeting,

Ronnie Roadster

CLUB NEWS- This year considering that there will be only one swap meet the amount of money we will have for donations will need to be discussed. Going over what the club has spent in the past we have averaged donations fixed and requests in the amount of $2,500.00 a month. At the March meeting a discussion and vote will take place on what we as a group would like to do going forward.

Also, the D.A.R.E. car we now have back {1923 Ford T bucket} At the February meeting we discussed three possible options on what to do with it. At the board meeting it was determined there's really only one option, which is following the club By-laws. Any surplus club property will be offered to the members by way of a sealed bid. Considering the cars value, it's running and was legally registered by the North Branford PD a minimum bid will need to be determined. The money raised from the sale of the car will be added to the donations fund.

GET WELL Get well to Rich Lathrup, Chris Sabatucci, and Bette Dybick. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all!

OUR CONDOLENCES Our condolence to Jim Kakalow who lost his daughter last month. Sorry it’s a month late the February newsletter was already printed.

WE HEAR We Hear Paul And Sally Benoit were in last month’s Street Scene Magazine.

SUPER BOWL 2020 & DAYTONA 500 February turned out to be a busy month at the club. Starting with the Super Bowl and finishing with Daytona 500.

Super Bowl 2020 kicked off with a lot of food and almost 40 members, families and guests enjoying the big game. Dave Harutunian and Jeff Barnes were the winners of the pool. The 2 weeks later we started the day with Cars and Coffee which was followed by the Great American Race, the Daytona 500. Unfortunately, due to rain the race was postponed until Monday. Oh well. We still had a fantastic time anyway and as usual an abundance of food and good conversation with over 60 club members, families and friends of CSRA.

The winners of the Daytona pool were. 1st Place: Denny Hamlin - Kathy Dyer 2nd Place: Ryan Blaney - Steve Borrelli 3rd Place: Chris Buescher - Rich Adams 4th Place: David Ragan - John Badal 22nd Place: Aric Almirola - Jerry Negron

I want to thank everyone that brought delicious foods and desserts and all that helped set up, serve, clean up and everything in between at both gatherings. Without your help these parties could not have been the success that they were, and I am very grateful for your willingness to pitch in.

I would especially like to thank my bride Sarah who helped me plan, shopped, prepared much of the food, set up the club days before, served and cleaned up after the party was over. “Thank You Honey ” The car season is almost here, and I can’t wait for more gatherings and fun to take place at the club.

Stay tuned! Tommy Lambert

THE YEAR IS 1920 ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO!!! The year is 1920 One hundred years ago. What a difference a century makes! Here are some statistics for the Year 1920: The average life expectancy for men was 47 years. Fuel for cars was sold in drug stores only. Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub. Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone. The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph. The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower. The average US wage in 1919 was 22 cents per hour. The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year. A competent accountant could expect to earn $2,000 per year. A dentist earned $2,500 per year. A veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year. And, a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year. More than 95 percent of all births took place at home Ninety percent of all Doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as "substandard." Sugar cost four cents a pound. Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen. Coffee was fifteen cents a pound. Most women only washed their hair once a month, And, used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo. Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason. The Five leading causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and influenza 2. Tuberculosis 3. Diarrhea 4 Heart disease 5. Stroke The American flag had 45 stars... The population of Las Vegas, Nevada was only 30. Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented yet. There was neither a Mother's Day nor a Father's Day. Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write and, only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school. Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at local corner drugstores. Back then pharmacists said, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach, bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health!" (Shocking?) Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help... There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A. I am now going to forward this to someone else without typing it myself. From there, it will be sent to others all over the WORLD all in a matter of seconds! It is impossible to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years. We've sure have come a long way..

THE PARTY SENT IN BY JERRY AUGUSTINE A couple was invited to a posh fancy dress party. The Mrs. Got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the party alone.

He being a devoted husband protested, but she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed and there was no need for his good time being spoiled by not going. So, he took his costume and away he went. The wife, after sleeping soundly for about an hour, awakened without pain and, as it was still early, decided to go the party.

Since her husband did not know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him.

She joined the party and soon spotted her husband cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice-looking woman he could, and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there.

His wife sidled up to him and being a rather seductive he left his current partner high and dry and devoted his time to the new babe that had just arrived. She let him go as far as he wished, naturally, since he was her husband. Finally, he whispered a little proposition in her ear, and she agreed. So off the of the cars and had a quickie.

Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away, went home, put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make for his behavior.

She was sitting up reading when he came in, and she asked what kind of a time he had. He said: “Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you're not there.” “Did you dance much?”

“I'll tell you, I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guys and we went into the den and played poker all evening.

But you're not going to believe what happened to the guy I loaned my costume to!!!!!!

I DID NOT KNOW SENT IN BY RICH ADAMS

Interesting notes not verified but very believable BUYING THE FARM During WW1 soldiers were given life insurance policies worth $5,000. This was about the price of an average farm so if you died you "bought the farm" for your survivors.
