Linn Benton Community College information session Nursing Assistant course
✕ Certified Nursing Assistants(CNA) are, as defined
by law:+ people who assist licensed nursing personnel in the provision of nursing care. This is direct patient care.
Certified Nursing Assistant authorized duties include:
ADLS POSITIONING ORAMBULATING
MEASURING INTAKE AND OUTTAKE
✕You MUST be certified by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) before assuming CNA duties.
✕You will be eligible to take the (OSBN) certification examination upon successful completion of this course (Course work & clinical).
✕You MUST pass the competency examination, a written exam & skills demonstration, within three attempts and within two years of completing the training.

• No current drug use or history. Upon acceptance to the program approved facilities may require drug screens.
Nursing Assistant Course Outline
✕Each course – 10 students per clinical instructor
✕155 Course Hours - 80 hours of Classroom/Skills (53 hrs. of course work & 27
hrs. of skills training-approx. 10 business days) & 75 hours of clinical (approx. 6.5-8 days).
✕Course offers a review day preparing each student for the state examination to be scheduled within a month after course.

How Do I Apply for Classes?
At the end of the application deadline, applications are reviewed and candidates are selected you will receive one of two letters via email:
An “Acceptance” letter, which will include further instructions.
ORA “Denial” letter, which allows a student to correct document errors & re-apply to future classes.
Application Requirements
✕ You are required to show proof of having a
(TB) Tuberculin Skin Test with a negative result.
Attach a copy of your TB results to application
Copy of Reading Comprehension must be turned in with your application, you must place in RD80.
If you are not a registered student at LBCC, you can take a placement test to find out where your scores are in reading, writing and math.
The placement test consists of three tests, $5.00 each. Each test will take approximately 45 minutes per test.

You must register with the Business Office before taking the test to insure a computer is ready for you. You will get your scores, right after you complete your test. Student Assessment will print out a copy of your results with your name and X number which you must be attached to your Nursing Assistant class application.
You must receive a score of 47 or above.
LBCC CPT College Placement Test
“Unofficial”, transcripts from LBCC only. Transcripts from your LBCC WebRunner account must have your legal name printed on the report. OR “Official”, transcripts that you requested from any college other than LBCC mailed to you. The transcripts must be in a sealed envelope stamped “Official”. DO NOT OPEN THEM!
A copy of the CPR card, front & back, must be submitted with your application. You must signature it before copying. There are not exceptions!
The ONLY card that we can accept is the: “Healthcare Provid er” from the American Heart Association (Refer to example on next page).

FYI: Students who are completing the Nursing Assistant training in preparation for applying to the LBCC Nursing Program:
One of the “Minimum Applicant Requirements” when applying for the LBCC Nursing Program, is the successful completion of the entire Nursing Assistant training and certification as a CNA, by the OSBN.
