As you can see, I begun sketching traditional looking spiders, studying how their body is connected and how their eyes are shaped and positioned.

After some initial designing, a thought came to me:

“What if I twisted the tale and made something quite dark?”

With this idea in mind, I started developing my ideas further by combining aspects of my spider sketches with some simple human like designs. I felt this would be a good idea because I wanted the actions portrayed in my work to be relatable to the viewing audience (Otherwise it would be more troublesome to make them feel disgusted and/or uncomfortable), and personally thought that understanding the struggles of a spider would be difficult, so using a more human-like figure would help alleviate this concern.

Satisfied with this idea, I decided to continue this humanized concept further.
