NNC President Prattle From the NRFC President
Welcome today to Gawler Central Foot-
ball Club with all games being very im-
portant for our teams.
We thank the Angaston Football Club for
the way in which the ANZAC DAY match
was presented. This traditional match is a
very important occasion. Bobby Raikiwasa
won the Scott Smith Medal as the Team’s
Best Player and Alec Bryce won the Anzac
Medal for the qualities he displayed during
the game.
A special welcome to our COLT Club
members and sponsors for the first of our
two lunches. We are also pleased to wel-
come our Life Members. We have invited
them today in a celebration of their hard
work and their commitment to the NRFC –
it’s what has built our Club to what it is
today! They have all in their own way con-
tributed a great deal and for that we are tru-
ly grateful.
It is a huge honour to play on ANZAC Day, an honour that both clubs take seriously. The Nuriootpa March was well attended by both Nuriootpa Netball and Football Clubs. It was so amazing to see so many young people at this important service acknowledging those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom today. It is a tradition that we hope to see con-tinue for may years to come. Wreaths were laid by NRFC's Under 17 and Under 15s Captains, Thomas Bell and Cooper Kalleske, and Netballs Senior and Junior club person of the year Lynlee Man-gelsdorf and Abby Materne. A massive thank you for everyone's engagement, support and attendance on such a significant day. It was a great day on the footy field and our NNC juniors represented their club with pride. Thankyou may never be enough, but for our today, you gave your tomorrow!
LEST WE FORGET
It’s the battle of the Tigers today and we hope that after a week break OUR Tigers are refreshed and ready to win! A big thanks to those players and their fami-lies that stood alongside the NRFC players in honouring our service men & women at the Anzac Day Parade. It was a moving start to a beautiful day which continued on with some fabulous re-sults across the Junior grades. The coaches and girls are producing some great wins, with 7 of our 9 competitive Junior teams currently placed 3rd or higher on the ladder! We know… it is still early days, but can’t help think there's a promise of big things to come!!! Our Senior teams again fought hard against strong Angaston competition, with Senior 7’s having a confidence boosting, tight 3 goal loss. We’re excited to announce the launch of our 2018 Major Raffle this week, with some fabu-lous prizes thanks to the continued generosity of many of our sponsors. All players should have a book in their hands by now so make sure you grab a ticket (or 10) before the draw at Sponsors Day on June 23rd. Talking social events, it’s time to get adven-turous and consider taking the stage for the NRFC Players Review on the 26th May. Surely there’s some budding comedians or musicians

NNC WINERY OF THE WEEK
The Kurtz family are fifth
generation Barossans of German
descent. The original Kurtz
Family Vineyard was planted in
the 1930s, with vines still in use
today. These vines, together
with later plantings and acquisi-
tions in the fifties and sixties,
allow fourth generation grape
grower and vigneron, Steve
Kurtz, to draw on significant old
vine fruit to create a range of
wines that are fine examples of
the traditional Barossa style – full
flavoured reds that are rich on the
nose and palate.
SATURDAY NIGHT TEAS AT CLUBROOMS ARE BACK
catered by Tania Norton and Crew. TONIGHT is Portherhouse Steak; Pork Medallions; Fish; with
Chips and Salad. Nuggets and chips available for the kids. COME ALONG AND SUPPORT YOUR CLUB

We’ve been growing Riesling at
our Mintaro property since 1999
and the 2017 Kerkaraboo Ries-
ling is a single vineyard, Clare
Valley Riesling showing a lime/
citrus nose followed by a tight,
fruit driven palate. Excellent
with any seafood but shines
with crabs and whiting, or just
as a great afternoon drink.

MEET OUR SENIOR 1 NNC COACH: Lynlee Mangelsdorf
What are you most excited about this season? To be working with such a great group of young girls. We have a very young
squad with an average age of only 20 but what they lack in experience they make up for in enthusiasm.
What do you hope to see / get out of the upcoming season? My aim for this season is to get the girls enjoying their netball
again. I want bring back the fun factor and make them love their netball again which in turn will hopefully bring success on
the court.
Who are you looking forward to playing against and why? The ANZAC Day clash against
Angaston is always one of the major highlights of the year. It’s such an honour to play on
ANZAC day and it always brings with it extra emotion. Cross town battles against Tanunda are
also closely contested matches.
What is your personal aim this season? To build and improve on my coaching skills. To
introduce new drills and routines to game day and be organised.
Who was your favourite player to watch growing up? Michelle den Dekker
Favourite part of being involved in the NNC? I love and cherish the many friendships I have
formed over the years. I now love that my two girls are growing up in the same environment
and look forward to netball day each week.
Any future aspirations? After coaching juniors for many years I am really enjoying coaching
Seniors at the moment. Maybe one day one day I would like to mentored by coaches at a higher
level - but for now I look forward to hopefully watching my girls enjoy their netball.
Where did you grow up as a child? In Cadell in the Riverland playing my junior netball for
Cadell (now Morgan/Cadell) in the Mid-Murray League I then played a couple of seasons for
Waikerie in the Riverland Competition and finally Tango when my family moved to town.
Favourite holiday destination? Thailand - where we went for our honeymoon and hoping to
take the family back to soon.
