Rihanna by Lina Mezzaour Maansri

Rihanna's real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty. She was born on February 20,

1988 in the Island of Barbados. She is a singer of R&B with influences of pop

and dance.

She was living a very calm life when the producer Evan Rogers offered her to

take her to New York and give her the opportunity to record a demo, which

would have Caribbean paces mixed with the most current rhythm and blues.

Thanks to this demo, she was hired by the discography “Def Jam Recording”

and there she records her first album in August, 2005: "Music of the Sun".

With the single "Put of Replay" she reached the number two in the list Billboard.

With this she got three platinum records, somehow uncommon for a singer who

newly begins.

Reykjavik by María López Cortés

Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland, it is in the south of the island. Near Reykavik

there are geysers and also the blue lagoon.

Blue lagoon is a geothermal Spa on the southwest. It is one of the most visited

attractions in the country. With water over the lava it is said that bathing here

help people with skin problems. The water is at 40° degrees.

The Reykjavík area coastline is characterized by peninsulas, caves, straights,

and islands. Temperatures very rarely drop below −15 °C in the winter.

The city of Reykjavík is mostly located on the Seltjarnarnes peninsula, but the

suburbs reach far out to the south and east. Reykjavík is a spread-out city; most

of its urban area is in the form of low-density suburbs, and houses are usually

widely spaced.

The outer residential neighbourhoods are also widely spaced from each other;

in between them run the main traffic arteries and a lot of empty space.

History of la Tomatina by Sara Marzo

It all started on the last Wednesday of August in the year 1945, when some

young people spent time in the people's square to see a parade. The guys

decided to put a dent in the routine of a parade with musicians, “gigantes y

cabezudos”. A young made fall a participant who, prisoner of wrath, started

beating everything in its path, there was a vegetable that was pasture of the

enraged crowd: people started to pull tomatoes from each other until the police

put an end to the fight.

The following year, young repeated the altercation on a voluntary basis and

took the tomatoes of his house. But police broke up the recent tradition in

successive years, the boys, knowing nothing, had made history. La Tomatina

was banned at the beginning of the 50's, something that did not dissuade

participants who came to be, even arrested. But people spoke and the party

became increasingly more frenetic.

The party was, again, cancelled, in protest, was held a burial of the tomato: a

demonstration in which neighbours carried a coffin with a great tomato inside.

The parade was accompanied with a brass band that played funeral marches

and their success was huge. Finally la Tomatina was allowed and became an

official festival.

The party began to be popular in the rest of Spain thanks to the report by Javier

Basilio, issued in the program of TV Spanish weekly report in 1983.

Cube World by Carlos Rodríguez

It is a new video game that is inspired in Zelda, minecraft, monster hunter, etc.

The project started in 2011. The game is created by two people but for the

moment is in phase alpha, but it has a lot of things.

It is a RPG game that consists on a world made of cubes and the monster and

your character is made of dice.

The game starts with the creation of your own character. You can chose

different types of characters: human, elf, orc, goblin, and after that you need to

select if you want your character to have a mage, a roque, a warrior or a ranger.

Then the game actually starts and you need to get levels and discover

dungeons like castles or pyramids. You have a mission, a pet and you can play

with your friends.

You can see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogpZ7Jy1Hy8

Big Fish by Patricia García Orozco

The movie was so beautiful! We watched it in class last Friday.

It was directed by Tim Burton (who also made “Ed Wood”, “Edward Scissor

Hands”, etc…)

The cast is formed by Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Cudrup, Jessica

Lange, and more.

The movie tells the story of the life of Edward Bloom, who had an amazing life

that blends reality and fiction.

His son, named Will Bloom, tries to separate facts from fiction in the stories told

by his father.

Finally Will finds out that the stories told by his father were true but

exaggerated.

Game day!!!

Page 7: Numero 4 fin

Last Thursday four students from the Spanish Summer Camp came to our class

to play Trivial, with a Trivial we made in class.

When we started playing we were all a bit shy but then we were all comfortably

playing together.

The categories of the game were: sports; literature, history, art and culture;

people, music and cinema; geography; curiosities and science.

There were two girls from Russia and two other German girls. One of them

didn’t speak at all, one of the Germans.

The pink team won, after it was the yellow, the 3rd was the green team and

finally the blue.

When the Spanish students left, we continued playing (as you can see in the

photographs) until the cards and the time were over.

In this last issue we are going to include the short stories we made from a short paragraph given by the teacher. . .

Bobby the Bunny by Sara Marzo and Carlos Rodríguez

Bobby the Bunny was fast asleep. He was dreaming about lying in a cabbage patch (that was his favourite kind of dream). Just then, in his dream, a huge black cloud drifted in the sky above him. He looked up, and stared at the cloud for a few seconds, when he realised that it wasn't a cloud. It was a...

Giant cabbage, the bunny was very happy because his dream was real. He

phoned his friends to see the cabbage, when his friends arrived Bobby wasn't

there. He made a house inside the cabbage. it was a really, really smelly house

with a kitchen, a bedroom, a living room ...

But one day a meteorite fell down from the sky and crashed in the floor with a

crater and two aliens came out from the meteorite and took a strange gun and

stole the cabbage. The bunny was sad and alone. He was thinking why his new

house was stolen, so he decided to make a wooden house like a cabbage if the

aliens appear and wanted to steak his giant cabbage and if he was going to see

the cabbage again.

He asked his friend Peter the Platypus because he knew about technology to

made a spatial communicator to talk with the aliens to know why they stole the

giant cabbage. When the spatial communicator was ready he communicated

with them, he asked him why they stole the cabbage .They said because they

had 55 children and they needed to feed them. The bunny said: - Well but it was

my house, why didn't you know it was a house if you are cleverer than us?

They said that they were very desperate and sorry.

Bobby invited them to eat with him and they eat a lot of food.

Paul by Lina Mezzaour and María López

Page 9: Numero 4 fin

Paul was bored. It was halfway through the summer holidays and he was fed up, so he decided to go exploring. He climbed up to the top of the stairs, when he saw a door which had never been there before. He went in and in the middle of the room was a strange purple box. It had a picture of a magic wand on the front. He slowly lifted the lid, peeked underneath and saw something which would change his life forever...

It was a thing so strange that was moving along his house. The following day he

returned and it wasn’t there.

He started to look for it, after he found another magic object. It was another box,

it was blue. He opened the box and a doll came out of it. The doll had a rope.

Paul pulled the string and the doll started to speak and move. Paul went away

from his bedroom.

He sat on a sofa, in her living room, thinking about all the events that had

happened. He was so tired that he fell asleep. The next day, when he woke up,

he realised everything he had lived was a dream.

Super cute pink creature by Celia López and Patricia García

Page 10: Numero 4 fin

"Base to Captain SkyFighter, Base to Captain SkyFighter. Come in Captain SkyFighter."

"Captain SkyFighter. Come in Captain SkyFighter. Where are you?"

"Captain SkyFighter. This is an urgent message. We are tracking an unidentified object and it is heading straight for you. You need to leave immediately. Hurry!"

In his spacecraft, Captain Skyfighter is fast asleep, unaware of what is fast approaching his ship…

The unidentified object was closer and suddenly woke the captain. Then he

stood up and saw a super cute pink creature. The creature waved her tiny hand

and the Captain went to pick it up, but it was becoming increasingly black until it

became a horrible monster. The monster ate the Captain and turned again into

a super cute pink creature.

It was the same with the hundreds and hundreds of Captains more until one did

not accept the super cute pink creature. Pinkmonster (as we are going to call

the super cute pink creature from now on) was so angry and hungry for

humans, that its eye was injected with blood, iron spikes came out and they

were dark -green -almost –black and out of its mouth it came a tongue with an

arrowhead that headed towards the Earth with the intention to devour it all.

When the Earth was almost destroyed, Super Patricia and Super Celia came to

save the Earth from Pinkmonster but it was highly evolved.

In the end, they found out that the monster was defeated and after 43 years the

Earth was again the same.

The witch’s cottage by Sonia Herráez and Marta López

Page 11: Numero 4 fin

There once was a witch called Martha. Martha had long green hair, purple eyes and a large wart on the top of her nose. She had made a potion which would make the handsome prince fall in love with her, and she was taking it to him to make him drink it. However, on her way, she tripped over on a stone, and the potion flew out of her hand and it landed in the mouth of...

the cat . The cat turned into a whale. The whale smashed the house of the witch and the witch scratched the whale in her face and the whale exploded. Then the cat appeared and the witch caught her broom and flew to a cave to prepare a potion with bats to end her life. In the cave sat on a knife to obtain blood for the potion. But the smell of blood attracted the vultures and devoured the witch alive.

But the cat was trained by the witch and he made potions and resurrected the witch.

At the moment the witch has a restaurant called “The witch’s cottage”

And that’s all folks!!! See you next Summer Camp!!!!
