All conditions remaining the same , what will be settlement of 1 m square footing? • SOL.- given, width of footing(Bf)= 1 m • width of plate (Bp) = 0.55 m settlement of plate(Sp)= 10 mm • settlement of footing in a cohesion less soil is given by- • Sf=Sp(Bf(Bp+30)/Bp(Bf+30))² • = 10(100(55+30)/55(100+30))² • =14.13mm.
