I would highly recommend working closely with Nudge. Not only do you receive positive support, the programme is highly rewarding to see your trainees develop and grow into career professionals. They become more than just an employee. They become your working family.

Joel Marsters (Supervisor) DM Roads Metro

Nudge have been able to assist us in recruiting quality trainees for many years. Nudge really take the time to understand our business and needs. Their efficient service has always provided us with quality trainees.

Corrie Oliver (Organisational Services Leader) City of Swan

The experience at Pithara has been positive with the two trainees selected from the surrounding region. They have indicated they are prepared to move with us to future contracts and this gives us satisfaction that we will continue to benefit from the time and training we have put into them.

Aboriginal Employment Initiatives – Strategic Business CaseThroughout 2017 Nudge working in collaboration with Main Roads WA developed a Aboriginal Employment Initiatives Strategic Business Case. The process included capturing insights and ideas from people and communities all across WA to shape a clear path forward for better engagement of Aboriginal businesses and people. The initiatives and recommendations were shaped by the Aboriginal community and endorsed by the Main Roads WA leadership. Thanks to all in the Nudge team who worked hard on this project – special thanks to Oral McGuire, Tony Missikos, David Azzam and Elizabeth Jones

The final version of the Strategic Business Case was presented to Main Roads WA in January 2018 and is shaping the implementation of initiatives and recommendations.

Nudge is excited for the impact of these initiatives and proud of the role it played in bringing this important information together.

Executive summary

Behind every number there is a story. Each story is rich, complex, detailed and uplifting. These sentiments are reflective of the Nudge story. Our annual report is an opportunity to look over the past year, what’s happened, where the successes and most impact was had, review the numbers and tell the stories. It is in the stories that the true essence and impact of Nudge is demonstrated.

The numbers are important, they are a great way to demonstrate what we do, when, where, how and with who. The stories attached to these numbers is the real insight. It’s the story of the staff involved, countless hours of work to make a difference, to do what needs to be done to make it work. It’s the story of the employers, providing opportunities for people to grow, learn, and change. It’s the story of the communities we engage and connect with, to drive change, improve livelihood. It’s the story of families and the impact of these jobs and opportunities that will shape them for years and generations to come. It’s the story of the individuals, the trainees, who are making choices to take the next step, start the journey and provide the best opportunities for themselves and their families.

A special thank you to all that contributed to Nudge in the past year – the community of people engaged in Nudge help make it all happen on a daily basis. Thank you especially to the staff for the tireless efforts and the Board for their commitment and leadership.

Nudge continues to grow and expand the work we do. We are supporting more people than ever, working with more employers than ever, placing more people into the workforce (often for the first time) than ever. We know our challenge is maintaining the quality of service we provide whilst continuing to meet the growing needs of industry and employers. That is a challenge we embrace.

Nudge is proud of the stories we help to shape, help to facilitate, help to make real.

Engaging with your Aboriginal Employees Programme:

The presentation was very informative and engaging...I feel like I have gained a great deal of knowledge that I can apply, moving

forward in my work…

I learnt a lot more than I knew before the workshop, very well presented, explained and engaging, I appreciated the open conversation and chance to ask questions, as well.

Nudge & Lendlease relationship

Nudge and Lendlease have been working closely together over the past four years to develop, engage and support employees and trainees, initially as part of the Goldfields ISA contract, and more recently within the MidWest-Gascoyne and Wheatbelt Rural Network Contracts. As part of this work, Nudge has:

Sourced and supported two ‘new entrant’ Aboriginal Trainees in Northam & Narrogin and two in Geraldton.

Sourced an additional four Aboriginal skilled workers for full time roles.

Delivered the Nudge ‘Engaging with your Aboriginal Employee’ workshop (Wheatbelt and Midwest).

Facilitated the process for 15 additional employees in Midwest to undertake formalised and certified training.

Facilitated the process for 17 additional employees in the Wheatbelt to undertake formalised and certified training.

Providing ongoing support (mentoring) to four additional Aboriginal employees within the Lendlease team.

I would like to express my gratitude to Nudge in your support of Lendlease and myself in securing quality employees in the Wheatbelt Region. Despite being familiar with the region we would not have the relationships to connect with the number and quality of candidates Nudge was able to in a short timeframe.

Lindsay Hume (Trainee) Lendlease Wheatbelt

There aren’t many opportunities for young people in our region so this traineeship has meant stability for me and my family through a fulltime job which is really important and will really set us up for our future.
