Core Features Overview

Nucoda Look is an entry level grading solution based on the industry leading Digital Vision image science technology and Nucoda colour tools. It is ideally suited for use as a pre-grade assist station, either in the facility or on-set. When used as a preparation station for the Nucoda Film Master, it can be used to ingest or conform video or film content directly onto the timeline ready for editing and pre-processing. It is also an excellent post grade deliverables system.

Nucoda Fuse is a low cost grading and finishing solution. It provides facilities a comprehensive toolset ideally suited to fast turn around & less complex, TV episodic type work.

Nucoda Film Master is the premium colour grading and finishing solution for feature films, commercials and broadcast applications.

It combines a creative tool set, and a very tight integration with the Avid workflow including full support for Interplay.

Setting new standards in the highest quality, Nucoda Film Master is now a fully featured ACES grading system, featuring HDR grading and and real time EXR file support. With an industry leading colour toolset used by clients such as Walden Media and Pixar Animation Studios, Nucoda Film Master creates complex looks and visual styles for animation, 2k/4k and S3D stereoscopic.

With over 20 years of image science culminating in the Digital Vision Optics (DVO) suite of enhancement tools, Nucoda ensures the highest quality imagery available.

These new formats also need to coexist and stay compatible with older formats and assets, which can result in much greater project complexity and data management headaches for the production. ACES solves this problem by delivering a single post production workflow that keeps all production assets at their maximum possible quality and providing the full benefit of High Dynamic Range (HDR) production pipelines.

Nucoda Film Master comes with ACES support and a full HDR grading capability, including a rich toolset for dealing with colour critical workflows such as HDR capture from ARRI and RED cameras.

Flexible Workflows; Easy Integration

Nucoda offers the widest range of creative tools, built into the most flexible non nonlinear workflow for digital film or video post production. From ingest, editing, picture enhancement, colour correction, compositing and visual effects, to multi-delivery for any delivery format from HD to 3D.

Ingest using an EDL, AAF or cut list, then conform data directly from a SAN, or capture from tape. Support for a wide range of file formats such as EXR, DPX, R3D, Arri, Sony F65, Quicktime and MXF means you can bypass copying and transcoding completely. Comprehensive conforming tools prepare your timeline with cuts, transitions and varispeed commands. Or use the powerful automated scene detector to quickly analyse your reels in the background.

Full support for the new ACES colour space which includes support and real time playback of the new SMPTE ACES EXR file format.

Today’s post production environment has seen an explosion in the number of cameras, file formats and distribution channels required for many jobs.

Precision Control Panel

The Precision control surface includes three ergonomic and functional control panels that can be arranged to suit the needs of any colourist. Using a combination of traditional trackballs with rings and high-quality knobs and buttons, operators can move quickly to complete the work in the shortest time possible. Full Precision Brochure

List Management

With Nucoda you can view all the events in a composition as thumbnails, as a contact sheet list view in either source or record order, giving direct access to any track, playhead, or event. From here any part of a grade or its dynamics can be copied to the current shot.

Easily-accessible Memories speed the workflow, offering different ways to store and recall, all or part of your grades and dynamics from shot to shot. Notes enable you to save unlimited numbers of these snapshots in folders so that you can assemble libraries of looks and access them in any project. A QuickNotes feature give you direct access for up to eight Notes from the control panel with a single key press.

The DI Suite

You can view, render and exchange Nucoda projects in all Digital Vision software applications, releasing the system for further client work. Add a Nucoda Look preparation workstation, sharing the same SAN, and you have a truly collaborative suite.

Add our unique Digital Vision Optics (DVO) tools to the assist stations to off-load preparation tasks such as grain management or dust busting.

Expansive, High-end Colour Tools

Nucoda creative and corrective colour tools combine a traditional approach to grading with the power and flexibility of digital technology. Select the colour tool that suits the task best; from Printer Lights through Colour Curves to Brightness Regions.

With the unlimited multi-layer timeline you can combine capabilities, using different isolation layer tools including the new ‘I-Keyer’ to produce complex looks quickly. Achieve dynamic grades and Keyer animation of effects parameters, and manipulate and track individual shapes on a individual transform or per-point basis, to refine that look over the whole shot.
