Nth FITZROY By MIlIeuNth FITZROY By MIlIeu The urban textures of inner city Melbourne, and the culture that brings these precincts to life are a wellspring of inspiration for each MIlIeu project. We are driven by a passion to design and create spaces that respond to their specific sites and with empathy to their surrounds, always with a focus on the needs and desires of each occupant.
To this end we have drawn on Melbourne’s deep pool of talent and aligned ourselves with creatives who share our desire to contribute to the city’s public and private realms. This upcoming project combines the skills and refined aesthetics of a curated group of designers, with architecture by FIeldWORk, interiors by FlAck STudIO and greenery by lOOSe leAF and MAlA STudIO.
In keeping with our desire to make spaces that will positively shape their surroundings, a café and food store by MIlIeu HOSpITAlITY is planned for ground level as a means of energising the streetscape and nurturing local connections.
MIlIeu is proud to introduce Nth FITZROY, a truly unique collection of 26 breathable apartments in the heart of the inner north. An intelligent approach to apartment living, this project offers a sense of community alongside a place for sanctuary and retreat.

The architecture of Nth FITZROY, is designed with the needs of the occupant in mind. These 26 apartments offer practical and refined living space across four spacious levels. The façade is cloaked in a veil of expanded metal mesh with integrated operable shutters allowing the building to breathe with the rhythms of the day. connecting residents is a central open air atrium with shared walkways, greenery and communal areas, which are designed to foster well-being and offers the opportunity for social exchange.

Four design signatures underpin this thoughtfully crafted project. cross-ventilation, acoustic performance, filtered light and access to the ground level café and food store are each designed to enhance the experience of each occupant.
Access to natural airflow is integral to the design of liveable space, this design naturally allows each home to breathe. The architecture features a cloak of shutters, which can be opened and shut in tune with the rhythms of the day. The central open air atrium with shared walkways and common areas also provide natural light and air into each apartment.
We consider the sound performance of each home as important as other design features. Acoustic quality affects your sleep, the potential to relax and the relationships between household members and with neighbours. To this end, every window is acoustically treated and the walls and ceilings are well insulated.

Filtered light is a quality that adds to the aesthetic beauty and functionality of a home. The upper form of Nth FITZROY is cloaked in a veil of white mesh with integrated shutters, creating a natural play of light and shadow throughout the day. The mesh facade diffuses the natural light, enhancing the building’s thermal performance by creating shade, and reducing the heat on glazed surfaces in summer. The operable shutters allow occupants to mediate views, to control their need for privacy and to enjoy the shifts between day and night and the changing seasons.
A café and food store at ground level by MIlIeu HOSpITAlITY opens up the corner site, creating an opportunity for social invitation, random meetings and a sense of address. A convenient place to caffeinate and pick up grocery essentials, it’s designed to make life at Nth FITZROY as enjoyable as possible. In the local context, the café will energise the street at ground level and foster ties with local community.
