John 14:21 (NLT) 21 Those who obey my commandments are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them, and I will love them. And I will reveal myself to each one of them."

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. 39 Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Where does our obedience matter most?

1. READING AND APPLYING HIS WORD.

Timothy 3:16 (NLT) 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

Agreement is not the same as obedience. 2. RESPONDING WITH A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

IN SPITE OF MY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Philippians 1:12 (NLT) 12 And I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened

to me here has helped to spread the Good News.

Intention is not the same as obedience.

3. RESPECTING THE LEADERS GOD HAS PLACED IN OUR LIFE.

Romans 13:1-3 (NIV) 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.

Hebrews 13:7 (NLT) Remember your leaders who first taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and trust the Lord as they do. Hebrews 13:17 (NLT) Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they know they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this joyfully and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.

1 Peter 2:17-18 (NIV) 17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. 18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.

2 Timothy 3:1-2 (NIV) 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy.

Indifference is not the same as obedience.

Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV) 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul

and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the

second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
