NSS Energy conservation through Students and Technocrats (NEST), a three day district
level camp (22, 23 and 24 April, 2016) was conducted at TKMCE, for NSS Volunteers, to
equip them with energy auditing skills and to promote energy conservation and to
spread awareness about renewable energy for development of the nation. This was a
first of its kind program to be organized by NSS in the past 10 years. The programme
started up with a stirring ice breaking session and included various interactive and
informative sessions for the students. Case study of energy audit and live energy
auditing was also conducted. Dr. Nisam Rahman A (Technical consultant, NSS Tech cell),
Prof Sharos H and Prof. Shan S (Program Officer’s NSS TKMCE) joined the team
enthusiastically and gave required guidance for young energy auditors. Mr. Abdul
Jabbar, the State Coordinator of NSS Technical Cell lauded NSS TKMCE for the successful
completion of the program on the final day.

NSS Volunteers actively participated in providing aid at district hospital in the heart
rending incident of Paravoor Explosive Accident on 10th April. The student volunteers
assisted and provided help required for the injured.

Second phase training of N-ACE at NCET, Lakkidi, Palakkad was conducted on 5th and
6thApril, 2016.
A delightful send off function was organized for senior most NSS volunteers on 5th April,
2016 and new NSS Volunteer Secretaries were read out on the day. Srihari K K,
SoumyaMadanan, Rahul and Anjitha (sfu) were handed over the charge.

Volunteer Secretaries meet at Neyyattinkara was held on 23rd March.
On 21st and 22nd March first phase training of N-ACE was held at Nehru College
Pampadi, Thrichur P.O.
Free medical aid, financial and technical assistance were provided on 20th March
through the event “SAHAYA”at SCDUPS Mekkon per socio economic and palliative care
survey done at Kottankara Panchayath ward no.17

Free medical detection camp was organized on 19th March at Ramankulangara by NSS,
TKMCE in collaboration with Sahaya Medicals.

Data entry of energy audit pilot programme of tech cell by the volunteers were done on
15th March, 2016. 4000 forms were allotted to the unit for uploading.

Volunteer secretaries meet was held on 12th of March.
A two day pleasure trip to Ooty and Malampuzha was organized on 11th March for the
entire NSS Family from college.
Total Expense of program : 60,000 rupees ( 1200*50 ,fund raised by students itself)
Sahaya fund raising campaign was conducted by NSS Volunteers in the campus with the
motto “we are gifted with two hands-one to help ourselves and the other to help
others”. The campaigning was done on 10th March, 2016 for providing medical supplies
to the patients through event SAHAYA of NSS TKMCE done in support of Kottankara
grama panchayath. Total Expense of program: 200rupees
As a part of Palliative Care programme on 6th March house visit at 17th ward, Mekone
was carried out.

NSS Volunteers joined the programme “VIJAYABHERI” of STEPS TKMCE and provided
guidance for SSLC students for preparation of final exams; and also provided assistance
in repair of electrical works at Balabhavan and Bhalikabhavan, Chinakkada.
35 volunteers joined the team on 5th March.

Volunteers attended the Gender equality camp at LBS TVM. The camp evoked the
audience about the need for gender equality in society.

New SFU No. 547 got sanctioned on 22nd February, 2016
NSS Volunteers joined hands with STEPS TKMCE in the event “Sukrita '16”(19th-21st
February, 2016) and actively participated in helping the disabled community.
On 21st January, 2016 (11-12 noon), P.O Prof. Sharos.H attended a meeting at collector’s
chamber to discuss the arrangements for observing Martyrs' day on 30th January.
Blood Donation Camp at Mobile Blood in association with AIDSCS, TVM was held on 10th
February, 2016.

Blood Donation Camp in association with Bishop Benziger Hospital, Kollam was done on
10th February, 2016 at the PTA Hall of the college.

A programme for Training on Palliative Care was organized for students to assist
patients suffering from cancer and other deadly diseases on 7th February, 2016 at APJ
Hall. Total Expense of program: 1500 rupees
A campaign regarding “Low cost house construction through light weight cool home
technology” was arranged at SCUDP School, Meccon, Kollam; on 6th Feb, 2016. The
session was handled by Dr. Dili.S of Architecture Department of TKMCE. Ward member
Mr. Niyas and Ex-member Mrs. Saraswathy were present.

On 30th Jan, 2016, Martyr’s Day, a Peace Rally was started at 7:30 a.m. from Chinnakada
PWD medical camp Rest House to Gandhi Park at Kollam Beach. This was jointly
organized in association with the Gandhi Peace Foundation and District Administration.

26th January, 2016, Republic Day celebration- The flag was hoisted by the principal
Dr.S.Ayoob; National Anthem and Patriotic songs were played by the members of Music
Club, TKMCE; This was followed by messages from the Principal and Mr. Pranav
Nelliyattu, Arts Club Secretary.
E-learning classes were put up for children at Bhalabhavan and Balikabhavan, Kollam on
23rd January, 2016 to teach the children basics of computer and in areas that had their
interest. Total Expense of program: 300 rupees
23rd January, 2016; Adopted village activities were done from 9-12 noon: survey,
palliative care, discussions and collection of data and information, about severe issues
of concern at the place were prepared.

programme officers of the National Service Scheme, organized by Empanelled Training
Institution for NSS at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery
0n 6th January,4: 30 to 5: 30p.m. P.O. Prof, Sharos.H attended a meeting at District
Collector's chamber to discuss the arrangements of Republic Day celebrations.
6th January, 2015: 2:30-4:30 p.m. Traffic Awareness Campaign. Kollam ACP
Santhosh.M.S was the chief guest on the occasion. Informative session on the matter
was handled by Kilikollur SI Muhammed Khan. H. Principal Dr. S Ayoob presided over the
function. Kilikollur ASI Prasad, PO Sharos.H and STEPS coordinator Prof. Ashfak were

Youth Day celebrations were organized by NSS Volunteers.
A 7-day special camp were set up for the NSS Volunteer at Meenakshivilasam
Government HSS, Peroor, kollam from 20th to 26th December, 2015.

On 7th December, 2015, Arms Day, 1000 arms day flag stamps were sold among the
students and an amount of Rs 5000/- was collected.
On 25th December, 2015, a Wednesday Advisory Committee meeting was organized
(4:30-5:30 p.m.).
On 8th November, 2015 planted saplings in the college campus.
On World Students Day, 15th October, 2015; birthday of Late APJ Abdul Kalam, a debate
competition was conducted at lecture hall M 203 (4: 30-6: 30pm). Prof. Udayakumar
was the moderator.
Introduction for first years was done on 10/10/2015 at Jubilee Hall (2: 00-4: 00pm).
Prof. Arun.S, Ex-Programme Officer, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SCT College
of Engineering, Pappanamcode was the resource person.
7/10/2015- P.O. Prof. Sharos.H of Mechanical Engineering Department attended a
meeting at Saraswathi Hall, Public library, Kollam to discuss the “Jeevadhayini” blood
donation data bank. About 500 registrations where done by our unit and the
registration forms were submitted on 26/10/2015.

Gandhi Jayanthi Day- 2nd October, 2015, Unit no. 174 actively participated on the rally
conducted by the Kollam district authorities and Gandhi Peace Foundation. Rally started
at 7: 30 from Chinnakada rest house and finished at Gandhi Park, Kollam beach at 8: 30
am. Total Expense of program: 500 rupees
On 2nd October, Kollam Asramam ground cleaning and orientation for first year KTU
were conducted.

Street play on “Blood donation” was done by NSS Volunteers within the campus for
exhibiting the importance of blood donation on 01/10/2015.
28th September, 2015; Registration for first year KTU students were opened at the
auditorium.
Anti-dowry campaign was conducted in association with PTA on 28/09/2015 at Jubilee
Hall (4:00-6:00 pm). Regional dowry prohibition officer Mr.P Rajan and Mr. Michael
handled the sessions and they played a documentary against dowry.

At Adopted Village a socio economic survey was taken on 20th September, 2015.

P.O. Prof. Sharos.H attended the meeting at collectors conference room on 16/09/2015
(11: 00-12: 30pm) for discussing the arrangements of Gandhi Jayanthi and rally on
October 2nd.
Started E-literacy programme at Balabhavan, Kollam on 12/09/2015 and this was
decided to be continued on all Saturdays.

Advisory committee meeting was held at Principal’s conference room (4: 30-5: 30 pm)
on 11th September, 2015.
Administered the Sadbhavana Day pledge on 20th August, 2015.
15th August, 2015; Independence Day celebration was done in association with College
Union and College Music Club. Flag hoisting, flag salute, national anthem, patriotic
songs, sweet distribution was the main event.

As a part of Cultural Fest “Rithu 2k15”(14th-16th August), a NSS stall “Thiranottam” was
set in architecture block reminding the changes that happened in culture and life style
of people in the country while passing through different eras.

On 03/08/2016, Help desk and campaign was set near college auditorium, during first
year admission, upto 2:00 pm. 9 volunteers participated in the event.
Volunteer Secretaries of the college attended the 3-day volunteer secretaries meet at
Musliyar College, Pathanamthitta held from 31/07/2015 to 02/08/2015.

Programme Officer, Prof. Sharos.H represented the college in 3-day Programme Officers
state conference at FISAT, Angamaly held on 24,25 and 26th July, 2015.

Pre-orientation activities for 70 second year students were done on 12th July, 2015 at
lecture hall M212, main auditorium and campus. The programme began with an ice
breaking session and students were given various tasks like chart preparation, planting
saplings, treasure hunt etc. Interactive session like debate were put up to express their
views on different matters. Also, a platform was given for the students to introduce
themselves and exhibit their talent.
On Anti- Drug Day, anti- drug poster competition were conducted for students
09/07/2015 (4: 30-6: 30 pm) Pre-orientation class was taken up by Prof. Premlet. Dr.
Prof.Ayoob.S (Principal) was the chief guest.
On Reader’s Day 2nd July, 2015; Pick and speak Extempory was conducted. Prof.
Udayakumar was the judge.
Two volunteers were deputed to attend the Penta coordinators meeting at Kalamassery
on Saturday 4th July, 2015.

29/06/2015 Monday (4: 30-5: 30 pm) interaction of volunteers with Prof. Premlet, HOD
Physics Department and Prof.Sudheer of Mechanical Engineering Department, TKMCE.
Both shared their long experience in NSS as Programme officer and Volunteer secretary
with the students.
Received the IMA Award for blood donation activities on 14th June, 2015.
Organized Yoga Day fete at college campus and observed the First International Day of
Yoga on 21st June, 2015, with an awareness programme on importance of yoga for
healthy living. A session on “Yoga strengthening body, mind and soul” was handled by
Mr.Abraham Jose, NSS Volunteer S5 ECE, at the lecture hall M203, at 9: 00 am, followed
by practicing some of the asanas of Yoga with suitable demonstrations in the college
auditorium. The instructions were given by Prof. Sharos.H P.O of NSS Unit TKMCE. The
participants shared the thrill of wisdom- Yoga- the gift of ancient India. About 25 people
including teachers and students attended the program.
