Mark Hayes, President, Highland Bike Park, NH

Brian Finestone, Parks Manager, Whistler Blackcomb, Canada

- SeasonsFor years, areas have improvised and developed their bike trail signage according to what’s made sense and worked for their riders. As bike parks have grown in popularity, the importance of consistency in signage from one area to another is increasing. From the use of the winter trail markers such as green circles, blue squares, and black diamonds, to the use of the orange freestyle pill, trail signage is becoming more similar than different to what skiers and riders see every day on the hill. This moderated discussion is your chance to share your thoughts on trail signage and hear what other areas are using. Suggestions from this session will be used to develop and propose a summer trail signage program for the industry.

So how do we attract new riders – the moms, dads, and kids that are curious about downhill without scaring them away? Our panel of marketers will discuss the strategies that have proven successful (and some that haven’t) in bringing new riders to the park for the first time. And the second time…

How does mountain biking become an integral piece of that larger puzzle? SE Group’s Adam Portz will use current case studies to illustrate this strategic process, and discuss the ins and outs of developing a multi-season plan that includes a bike park.
