The main characteristics are the low weight, the small dimensions and excellent boresighting retention and performance under all light conditions due to the optimized optics and high performance image intensifier tubes. The NS-357A incorporates an adjustable Mounting Bracket Assembly that allows direct mounting on Picatinny (MIL-STD-1913) rails, precise adjustment in elevation and azimuth and retention of boresighting under harsh military conditions. Fastening is achieved by means of a torque knob, which ensures boresight retention under harsh military conditions and even when the sight is removed and refitted several times onto the weapon. Weapon brackets are available for a large variety of weapons without MIL- STD-1913 rails. The optics of the NS-357A are optimized to take advantage of the characteristics of current, high performance image intensifiers. They are lightweight, offer excellent resistance to adverse conditions and have scratch resistant and multilayer antireflection coating. The sights incorporate most innovative key technology such as the red illuminated reticle that can easily be changed in the field without the need for any tools. This feature allows the use of the sights with different weapons without having to return them to the manufacturer once a user wants to operate them in a different weapon system. A coin or the rear part of the bullet cartridge can be used to disassemble the reticle and to replace it with another. The interchangeable reticle allows the end user to allocate a set number of sights to its divisions or battalions that are able to be interchanged among various weapon types and thus minimise its investment on the total quantities of night vision systems that are required to support its operations. Theon's reticle design allows, furthermore the incorporation onto the reticle disk of large ballistic information, lead marks and stadia lines for shooting against moving targets, distance measuring features and other signs and symbols upon customer request. The NS-357A sight is powered by two (2) AA batteries and employs an 18mm format 3rd Generation, XD-4 or XR5 image intensifier assembly in the ANVIS configuration.

The NS-357A is a 3X magnification passive image intensifier sight for use on infantry weapons. In particular, it matches the range of individual rifles of any calibre.

Weapon brackets are available for a large variety of weapons without MIL-STD-1913 rails.
