NRNA CANADA UPDATE # 8 SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER 2016

1. Interaction Program organized by Women and Children Affairs committee

NRNA Canada Women and Children Affairs Committee organized an interaction

program on September 2/2016 in Mississauga, Ontario. Program was organized as Tij special

and women right activist Dr. Renu Adhikari and NRNA ICC women forum deputy

coordinator Rajani pradhan were chief guest and special guest of the program. The program

was chaired by NRNA Canada president Mr. Tulsi Prasad Sapkota and emceed by Women

and Children Affairs committee coordinator Mrs. Pramila Basnet. Women right activist Dr.

Renu Adhikari explained about the women’s situation in Nepal and the gradual change of

women’s right and participation in the national politics. Mrs. Rajani Pradhan presented about

the NRNA activities for the support and development of Nepal and she emphasized the role of

NRNA women forum’s activities to empower and support to the Nepalese women in Nepal

and abroad. In the occasion the speakers wished for tij festival and appreciated the active role

of NRN Canada women and children committee.

the Nepali women for happy tij festival and spoke about women’s conditions and solutions.

2. NRNA Canada Women hosted program on Women Empowerment

Brampton, Ontario- NRNA Canada, Women and Children Affairs Committee

organized program on women empowerment. The Chief Guest and former NRNA ICC

Women Empowerment Task Force Chair Dr. Bishnu Maya Pariyar shared her thoughts saying

empowering women is empowering family and empowering whole community and urged all

men to support for women and children's cause.

activities and fund in Earthquake relief and reconstruction process from 2015 to till now. Ms.

Judith informed there is approx. $27 million Dollar was raised for relief and reconstruction

support after devastating earthquake in Nepal.

3. Dipawali Celebration:

On the auspicious occasion of second greatest festival Deepawali, Nepal Tourism

Board ( NTB) Canada has successfully completed an Interaction & 'Greeting Exchange' non-

formal program under the coordination of HPRR Mr. NB Tandan in his residence Brampton

on 16th October 2016 with the presence of Paul Vincent, Social Activist and Treasurer of

CARABRAM festival.

Similarly, there were 25 Nepali people including Tulsi Sapkota, Anil Thapa, Uttam KC,

Madhab Gajurel, Surya Bhattarai, Rishi Ram Gaire, Dhirendra Shahi, and Rajan

Shrestha.Discussions were focused on about how to strengthen and correlate relations & field

actions between NTB and NRNA Canada for bigger achievements. Mr. Anil Thapa and Mr.

Tulsi Sapkota pointed the prevailing challenges of NRNA Canada. Mr. Tandan has updated

his recent and pasted activities regarding tourism promotion in Canada, as well presented

further plans and projects.

NRNA Canada is glad to notify to our NCC and community members that Mr. Vincent has

announced in the program that Brampton Focused TV has given us a space to propagate our

cultural shows, activities and updates.

4. NRN Day Celebration:

NRNA Canada organized “NRN-DAY” program in Mississauga city of Ontario;

Montreal city Quebec; Calgary city of Alberta and Vancouver city of British Columbia by

respective regional committees on October 22, 2016.

It was organized in Mississauga; this celebration program was coordinated by NCC member

Mr. Tula Bhattachan. Celebration function started from 6:30 pm at Gorkha Palace and Thakali

kichen and successfully completed with huge presence of NRNA Canada members.

The celebration program was begun with Nepali and Canadian national songs, felicitation of

Nepalese community leaders from different Nepali associations, artists and journalists.

Nepalese Ambassador to Canada and Cuba His Excellency Kali Prasad Pokhrel and NRNA

ICC adviser Mr. Nab Raj Gurung jointly inaugurated the program by opening special banner

of the NRN Day celebration program with 4 pictures of four presidents of NRNA. NRNA

Canada president Mr. Tulsi P Sapkota chaired the program and the Nepalese ambassador to

Canada and Cuba His Excellency Kali Prasad Pokhrel was the chief guest of the program,

NRNA ICC and NRNA Canada NCC adviser Mr. Naba Raj Gurung, past President Mr. Anil

Thapa were the special guests.

NRNA Canada Women & Children committee coordinator Mrs. Pramila Basnet delivered

welcome speech and spokesperson and Ontario regional committee coordinator Dr. Kismat

Bhandary delivered the thanks speech of the program. Dr. Bhandary also felicitated the

sponsors of the program. The NRN Day celebration committee coordinator and NCC member

Mr. Tula Bhattachan expressed the impressive views on concept of NRN Day celebration,

role of individuals with positive attitude and hope and how NRNA and NRNA Canada are

becoming important part of Nepalese community and origin country Nepal.

Secretary of NCWA Ms. Rashmi Thapa expressed their personal and organization’s views

emphasizing the importance of unity and role of NRNA Canada.

The program was emceed by NCC member Mr. Madhab Gajurel. Honorable Ambassador His

Excellency Kali Prasad Pokhrel delivered the speech about past present and future role of

NRNA and NRNS for the development of country and advancement of community in their

respective countries. ICC adviser and Founder President Nab raj Gurung explained the

important role of NRNA Canada in NRNA and overall NRNA role for motherland country.

President Mr. Tulsi Prasad Sapkota clarified all the questions and enthusiasm raised in the

program and also explained how NRNA Canada is doing right for community and future

generation of NRNs. Achievements depend on the community supports and cooperation but

the difference of expectations and their actual contribution in the organization is quite high.

But positive results and the increasing trust, belief and support from community is showing

that NRNA Canada is leading in the right way. He also urged to keep this positive attitude,

hope and beliefs for the advanced and strong community and better future of motherland.

In different modes of program songs and dances performed by Astha Adhikari, Roshan KC

and Anupama Baral could attract and refresh the participants.

Journalist Mr. Gokarna Lamichhane and above mentioned artists were awarded for their

valuable contribution through their talents and dedication.

NRNA thanks to all participants and financial and moral supporters of the program.

NRNA Canada president distributed 25 life member certificates which were taken in occasion

of NRN Day specially from Nepalese Canadian Trucker’s Association members. NRNA
