WESTWAY TRUSTWestway Trust is a charity committed to enhancing the 23 acres of space under the Westway flyover to

benefit the local people, making it a great environment to live, work, play and visit.

We deliver community events like this Christmas festival which are visited by nearly 25,000 people

a year, as well as having sports and fitness facilities that are visited half a million times a year, hosting

adult learning for 500 people a year, supporting 14 supplementary schools for local young people,

maintaining three acres of green space, and creating space for great local businesses and employers.

We exist to harness the creativity, heritage and diversity of the area to maintain and improve the places

and spaces we look after. Through good stewardship and collaboration with every part of the community

we help this vibrant part of London to continue to thrive.

How would you like to see this space used

in the future?

We’ve shared everything we’ve learnt with our landscape architects along with

some of our own ideas for Portobello Green. Some of those ideas include removing

the railings along Thorpe Close and replacing them with steps, increasing the

amount grass for sitting, an improved stage area, improve lighting, environmental

education activities, but not a traditional playground, improved access, and better

interaction with the market.

When the landscape architects have turned those ideas into plans for

improvements we’ll share these with you for your feedback. In the meantime if you

have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us on [email protected] or drop in to

our office on Thorpe Close.

Anti-social behaviour

Portobello Green is a much loved green space adjacent to the vintage

market canopy on Portobello Road and Thorpe Close. Westway Trust

maintains the space for community use and we want to make sure that

it is doing as much for the local community as it can.

We held three ‘Tea on the Green’

sessions to understand how people

use the green and how they might

want it to change.

Play space for children

These are some of the issues that they said should be addressed...

All quotes, statistics and responses above came from those attending our workshops.
