Welcome to our new issue of Nozzom, where we share with you our events, projects and plans.
We are extremely excited to come out with a Special Report on Africa in this issue. Once described as a "Hopeless Continent" by The Economist, the magazine has since aptly changed their description to "Africa Rising." No longer is Africa viewed as hopeless, but hopeful - an emerging market with immense potential for development and growth, representing a huge untapped consumer market.
Even though there are some challenges that the region still needs to tackle head on, it is clear that the influx of investments, the current trend of Africa investing in Africa, and the major infrastructure projects underway have shifted the discussion towards how Africa can attain transformational economies that can be sustained and encompass inclusive growth.
Africa is becoming one of the fastest growing economies in the world. This economy is spurred on by the growth momentum that has developed over the course of the past decade. Continuing growth will require major infrastructure projects, as well as balanced policies and reforms, in order to ensure the transformational development of Africa as a whole.
We are thrilled to be part of Africas growth-journey, contributing towards its shift to becoming a "Hopeful Continent."
The articles and items in this issue mainly focus on insights into Africa, as well as our major projects and solutions implemented in Africa. We have also included a number of additional articles involving our latest events, projects, awards and CSR efforts. Just a few highlights on what you can expect in this issue of Nozzom:

Insights into Africa Interview with Osama Sorour, Chief Strategy Officer at Giza SystemsDespite the continents challenges, Africas macroeconomic prospects
remain promising. In 2013, Africa maintained an average growth rate of
about 4% in comparison to a global output growth of 3%. According to the World Bank, it is anticipated that gross domestic product (GDP)
growth reaches 5.4 percent in 2015.
The majority of the regions economies is on a trajectory of robust
growth driven by investment in infrastructure, a solid agricultural
production, and a booming services sector. Though the region has
not gone through the traditional industrial phase, its economies are
experiencing solid growth from both agriculture and services.
The positive momentum is powered not only by the booming agriculture and services sectors, but also by the demand for
infrastructure projects, as well as sustainability efforts for the nations
main productive capacities such as supply of electricity, which has
been a major challenge for the region.
Furthermore, Africa with its youngest population in the world
is experiencing growth in diverse sectors including oil and gas
production, financial services, communications and IT. Its delayed
development in ICT has presented it and its youthful consumers with a unique chance to bypass the older generation technologies and start its full-fledged development with state-of-the-art technologies that
are agile, efficient and flexible.
Likewise, the African consumer market is relatively untapped with its
demand for technology and mobile communications, which surpassed
expectations. The growth in this sector has attracted major companies
and investors to the region allowing for job creation, as well as inflow
inflow of foreign investment thereby boosting economies.
With the surge of loans and investments in Africa starting in the early 2000s by the Chinese, Fortune 500 companies, and the major world
financial institutions, Africa has met this influx with its own investments
stemming from an impetus of "Africa investing in Africa."
It is essential for the region to direct this influx of investments and
loans towards increasing infrastructure spending to tackle the
severe deficit in infrastructure affecting the continents power supply,
roads, business, efficiency, and trade. Investment in national goods
and services (e.g. electricity, ICT, transportation, roads, health and
education) is crucial for developing the economies and creating jobs for the reduction of poverty and long-lasting transformation in the region.
The potential for Africa to transform its economies is huge provided that it continues its efforts in infrastructure projects to ensure
productive capacities are sustainable and growth-enhancing measures are prioritized; works towards political stability and security;
establishes balanced fiscal and regulatory policies and reforms;
adopts good governance and transparency practices; and addresses key challenges that may arise such as the Ebola outbreak that could
impact some of the affected countries economies.
Giza Systems Expands in Africa
In 2014, Giza Systems began applying its growth and expansion
strategies in Africa through the acquisition of HF Giza Systems Smart
Solutions, previously known as HF Fire. The companys extensive
presence in Africa through HFGS offices in Kenya, Tanzania,
Uganda and Nigeria, will surely accelerate and ensure the growth of
the company, while also positioning it as a global integrated smart
solutions provider.
We spoke with Osama Sorour, Chief Strategy Officer at Giza Systems,
to examine Giza Systems strategy in the African arena, and how the
company plans to tackle the challenges of the continents unique
market.
Why Africa?
Africa has the one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Due to the fact that Africa is a less developed market, numerous
development opportunities and projects are still underway. The investments being made towards developing the African infrastructure aim to ensure productive capacities are in place as well help enhance the standard of living and reduce poverty. As a member of the African continent and under the COMESA agreement, Egyptian corporations

can positively contribute to the various projects and benefit from the proximity and trade
agreements in order to actively participate in the development of Africa.
What is driving the growth and development in Africa?
Major growth drivers are infrastructure projects that are funded by international donors in various sectors including utilities,
roads, railways, airports, sea ports, and
pipelines, in addition to new oil and gas
discoveries in several African countries.
Are there certain sectors and countries that Giza Systems will focus on in Africa?
Giza Systems is mainly focusing on the East African market to leverage proximity and trade
agreements. Additionally, some select countries
in West Africa are being targeted, namely Nigeria, as
it constitutes the largest economy in the whole African continent.
What are the risks of working/investing in Africa? And how will they be handled?
Having mentioned some of the key drivers for growth, there are still some risks for doing business in Africa that
need to be considered. Doing business in Africa is expensive due to the fact that it is a fragmented market. It is made
up of diverse countries, each with its own set of potentials, opportunities and risks. In addition, the business volume
in one country alone is not sufficient for the livelihood of our company; therefore, we have to focus on a number of
opportunities in diverse countries to generate the necessary volume. Accordingly, more resources and more travel
are required to cover the various markets. This can be contrasted with the Gulf countries, for example, where one
country could generate enough business. Another risk concerns the political instability in several African countries,
which severely impacts the cost of doing business. Likewise, availability of funds or lack thereof in case of locally
financed projects is sometimes a concern and a challenge of working in Africa.
What are Giza Systems plans for expansion in Africa?
At Giza Systems, we plan to make 2015 the "Year of Africa." We are preparing to expand significantly in East Africa to
cover all East African countries and strengthen our penetration in the countries where we already have a physical presence,
namely Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. We have also assigned a dedicated team for Nigeria to implement our penetration
plan. Our objective is to double Giza Systems integration business in Africa through 2017. This is in addition to the business
generated by HFGS, which has extensive presence in Africa through its offices in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Nigeria,
as well as established references in the region. Based on our plans and forecasts, we estimate that Africa will contribute to
approximately 30% of our total revenues in the coming 3 years.

What do you consider to be the guiding strategy for our expansion in Africa?
We aim to focus on offering state-of-the-art technologies, services and solutions that can add value to the
African development plan. By implementing major infrastructure projects, we can contribute towards long-
lasting development and inclusive growth to the region.
How does Giza Systems specifically plan to achieve its vision for Africa?
We believe that Giza Systems enjoys a differentiated position in Africa, due to the fact that we are
ahead of our competition in terms of market knowledge, expertise and references. Our vision is to
extend our position as the number one systems integrator in the Middle East (ME) to become
the number one systems integrator in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
How do you see Giza Systems strategic plans changing to fit the companys
vision in Africa?
Our first step in working towards our vision was the
acquisition of HF Fire with its already existing offices across
Africa, which led to the establishment of HF Giza Systems.
In addition to relocating some of our key experts to Africa, we
have recruited a number of African calibers and professionals to our team that have the required know-how and in-depth
expertise to implement major projects in the region. Furthermore,
we have dedicated a significant segment of our business development
funds and resources to focus on the African market.
What is Giza Systems competitive advantage in Africa?
Giza Systems position as a leading systems integrator in the region is
derived from its teams wealth of technical capabilities, extensive experience,
knowledge of the market, and its proven track record in the various industries.
The company also enjoys the advantages of geographic proximity and valuable trade
agreements.
What are the advantages of Giza Systems working in Africa both on a national level and African level?
By investing our time and effort, and participating in the development of the African
infrastructure, it is sure to encourage and enhance political relationships with the East

this will in turn benefit the Egyptian economy through trade, business, and investment.

promises to yield outstanding returns in the near future for the entire continent.

Expansive Strategies HF Giza Systems in Africa We also spoke with Raouf Hassan, CEO for HF Giza Systems WECA,
and Sherif Ali, CEO for HF Giza Systems MENA, to find out more about
the companys approach and future plans for the African market.
What, in your opinions, are the key drivers for growth in Africa?
Africa is an important producer of oil and natural gas, expecting to
account for 10 percent of global oil and 9 percent of natural gas production in 2035. In addition, the continuation of good medium-
term policies and structural reforms are promising for future growth in the region.
It is also anticipated that half of the worlds future population growth
will be driven by Africa, because of longer life expectancy. This
trend could lead to an adult population of around 800 million by
2030 (compared to 460 million in 2010). Africas rapid urbanization
and flourishing middle class could generate hundreds of millions of
consumers.
To sustain this growth, however, Africa will need to continue reducing
poverty and inequality, and step up the transformation of its economy.
This can be achieved through the proper investment plans and appropriate utilization of products and services made available now.
What are the main motives for HFGS to extensively work in Africa?
HF Giza Systems enjoys a heritage of engineering excellence that
enables it to design and install some of the worlds most advanced
solutions in the fields of security, life safety, building management,
audio-video and fire protection systems.
Thanks to our proven track record in these fields, and the successful
completion of around 1,500 projects in the region over the past 17
years, our expansion plan entails opening more branches in Africa
and the Middle East.
What are the biggest challenges you are facing to improve the African infrastructure today?
Over the last few years, Africa has benefitted from some significant
improvements in infrastructure; however, daunting challenges remain.
The poor state of infrastructure in Sub-Saharan Africa in terms of electricity, water, roads and information and communications
technology reduces productivity by as much as 40 percent, and
affects business, efficiency and trade. Likewise, the ailing public
health system poses a massive challenge and threat, hindering the
well-being and development of the African people.
Outdated educational standards pose another serious challenge.
Although the African population is the youngest in the world, with 60
percent being less than 25 years of age, youth are unprepared for
employment due to the lack of proper training, which makes the hiring
process difficult and hinders the development of the workforce.
What are the keys opportunities to be found in the African market today?
Forecasts of high real estate development rates within Africa over the
coming decade, as well as growing oil and gas field explorations, are
all factors driving the continent towards a stable financial position that
is anticipated to attract and open doors for more investments.
Thriving infrastructure related projects in fields like power stations
and energy generation, airports and sea ports, as well as IT and data
projects, are considered key factors for HFGS to further invest in
Africa.
What do you think the African technology market needs the most right now?
Currently, the African technology market needs proper technical consultation services, which will be reflected in selecting the right solutions meeting the continents exact needs. Africa has the unique opportunity to bypass the older generation technologies and leap towards state-of-the-art technologies as the foundation to its systems and structures.
Being prepared with an integrated portfolio representing turnkey
solutions will certainly be an added value to any technology supplier aiming to penetrate the African market to ensure the implementation
of flexible and agile business models.

Kenya Pipeline Company Awards Giza Systems Maungu Pump Station Project Leveraging Giza Systems vast expertise in the oil and gas industry
and automation solutions, Kenya Pipeline Company awarded Giza
Systems the project for supply, installation and commissioning of
Medium Voltage (MV), Low Voltage (LV) and Variable Speed Drive
(VSD) switchboards at Maungu Pump Station. The project is expected
to be completed by the third quarter of 2015.
"We are delighted to have been awarded this project by Kenya
Pipeline Company, one of the O&G leaders in the East African market.
Expanding into Africa is one of our prime strategies this coming
period, and we are thrilled to have gained a foothold in the booming
Kenyan market. With the market growing at a significant pace, we
believe that it is instrumental for Giza Systems to contribute to the development of the oil and gas infrastructure," stated Osama Sorour,
Chief Strategy Officer at Giza Systems. He added, "Our ability to
provide a comprehensive integrated solution, coupled with our local
resources and references were key to being awarded this project."
Giza Systems has been contracted to design, supply, and install the
Medium Voltage (MV), Low Voltage (LV) and Variable Speed Drive
(VSD) switchboards. The project also extends to the commissioning
and testing of the installed systems serving Maungu Pumping Station
in Kenya. Furthermore, being strategic and critical for the oil and gas
transport in Kenya, shutdown time for Maungu Pumping Station will
need to be minimal during the implementation of the project to avoid interruption of operations.
The project scope includes the design of new switchboards to fit
in the existing switchboard room using the existing cables without
any additional cable connections. It will also tackle the mechanical
challenge of modifying and replacing the fluid coupling mechanism
with a direct coupling and VSD to eliminate the various maintenance problems encountered through the use of the old technique of fluid
coupling to control pump speeds.
The implementation of this project will contribute to solving a number of pipe network issues, as it will help minimize maintenance problems
caused by the old fluid coupling, as well as ensure the smooth,
proper and continuous operations at the station. The project reflects a
major market trend of
shifting towards VSD for controlling the speed of pumps. This shift enhances the maintenance and management of national resources by optimizing efficiencies, reducing operating costs, and increasing
reliability.

The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Limited www.kpc.co.ke is a State
Corporation established on 6th September, 1973 under the Companies
Act (CAP 486) of the Laws of Kenya and started commercial operations
in 1978. The Company is 100% owned by the Government and

HF Giza Systems Platinum Sponsor at Modern Airports Africa 2014, UgandaHF Giza Systems (HFGS) participated and sponsored the Modern
Airports Africa 2014 event in Uganda. The exhibition took place from
the 25th through 27th November, 2014 at the Protea Hotel Entebbe,
Entebbe, Uganda.
Modern Airports Africa 2014, in partnership with the Ministry of
Works and Transport, Uganda and the Civil Air Navigation Services
Organization (CANSO), brings together a unique platform, reflecting
international trends, highlighting world class standards and analyzing
the applicability of self-revenue generating operations.
The key topics discussed during the event included ways of
developing infrastructure that promotes Uganda as a regional travel hub in east Africa; building airports that match the countrys economic
ambitions; harmonizing African airspace through partnerships and cooperation among aviation stakeholders; identifying a world class
safety and security approach for modern airports; meeting set security regulations and infrastructure; discussing the future of African airports; upgrading existing infrastructure while delivering operational
benefits and reducing costs amongst others.

Africa and sponsor the event for its significance in terms of airport
technologies and infrastructure. The event was a great opportunity to network with industry leaders and be informed of the latest trends in
airport solutions. The key themes in the event were aligned with our

As the continent continues its progress towards development and economic growth, Africa has witnessed strong growth in air traffic in
recent years. Passenger traffic recorded a solid growth of 7.5 percent
in 2012, reaching 163 million passengers. The expected annual
average growth is 6 percent for the next 5 years, with increased
aircraft movements by 0.8 percent to reach 2.67 million.
This growth has provided a stimulus for investment in airport infrastructure in some parts of Africa, as national governments
recognize the essential need for facilities that meet international standards, as well as the management of expected increases in
passengers numbers and aircrafts.
With the anticipated demand, HFGS, exclusively and strategically

KenGen Awards Giza Systems Turkwel Hydro Power Station Project Relying on Giza Systems technical capabilities, extensive experience
and knowledge of the market, as well as its partnerships with global
leaders in the field of electricity, Kenya Electricity Generating Company
(KenGen) recently awarded Giza Systems the Turkwel Hydro Power
Station rehabilitation project. The power station is situated in north-western Kenya, on the border of Turkana and West Pokot and Pokot
North districts, approximately 550 km from Nairobi.
Due to the old and obsolete low voltage switchboards with associated control systems, KenGen was facing challenges in acquiring spare
parts, which affected the reliability and operations of the Turkwel
Hydro Power Station. They submitted a request for tenders to
rehabilitate the power station, which entailed a careful analysis of the
existing schemes to ensure integration of the new components and
systems with existing controls, monitoring and supervision schemes,
re-design of the controls and interface to the automation PLC and
SCADA, and process instrumentation of the switchboards.
Giza Systems was awarded the tender for their proven track record,
successful implementations of similar projects, technical expertise,
and competitive offer. Giza Systems was contracted to design,
supply, install, test and commission 415 Vac switchboard panels and
associated relay panels serving Turkwel Hydro power station in Kenya. The main challenges faced by the team during the implementation of the project related to designing the new switchboards using the existing cables and space
constraints to ensure a perfect fit with the existing set-up.
"We are extremely proud to contribute with our technology to
the economic growth of Africa, through optimizing operational
efficiencies," commented Mohamed Sedeek, Chief Operations
Officer at Giza Systems. He continued, "This project enhances Giza
Systems presence in the African utility market, as KenGen alone
produces more than 80% of the electricity consumed in Kenya and
it is truly a milestone for us in Africa to collaborate with them on this project."
The Turkwel Hydro Power Station is Kenyas third largest hydro power
plant. Accordingly, the switchover from the existing switchboards to
the new switchboards is to be carried out with minimum disruption to the operations of Turkwel power station.
The implementation of the new switchboards promises to enhance operations, eliminating issues arising from the use of old switchboards,
as well as ensuring proper and continuous operations for the hydro power plant. The project also extends to ensuring integration of the
solution with existing infrastructure, stabilization, testing, and training.

Mumias Sugar Company Selects Giza Systems for DCS Maintenance ServiceMumias Sugar Company selected Giza Systems for the maintenance of its distributed control system (DCS), because of the companys
technical capabilities, extensive experience, and knowledge of the
manufacturing process control market.
"We are happy to contribute with our technology and in-depth
expertise to the economic growth of Africa, through optimizing
operational efficiencies," commented Mohamed Saad Gad, Country
Sales Manager WECA at Giza Systems. He continued, "This project
enhances Giza Systems presence in the African manufacturing arena
and is aligned with our Africafocused strategy. The industrial sector
is expected to steadily grow from 6% in 2013 to 10.2% in 2017,

The scope comprised the maintenance of the existing Honeywell DCS
service at the clients power plant and sugar factory. Facing issues
with the existing DCS and after-sales support services, the client had
contemplated replacing the DCS entirely. However, after carrying out
the maintenance for the DCS and troubleshooting the entire system to identify the issues, the existing DCS is currently working smoothly
and operational efficiencies have been optimized.
Distributed control systems are dedicated systems essential for the control and monitoring of manufacturing processes that are continuous or batch-oriented, such as oil refining, gas production/processing
plants, petrochemicals, central station power generation, fertilizers,
food and beverage manufacturing, steelmaking, and papermaking.
DCS are connected to a group of sensors, actuators and other control
systems; and using set-points defined by operators, they control the
flow of material through the plant.
Ensuring the proper functioning of DCS is critical for the manufacturing process of the factory. In addition to optimizing operational efficiencies,
the implementation of this service helps the client reduce costs,
decrease energy consumption, eliminate environmental concerns,
and optimize the automation of internal processes.

TANESCO Selects Giza Systems for Implementation of Containerized Switchgears Project Tanzania Electricity Supply Company (TANESCO) awarded Giza Systems the project for supply of containerized 11kv switchgears and 33kv Skid Mounted switchgears for MVA transformers.
As the leading systems integrator in the region, Giza Systems was contracted for the project due to its technical capabilities, extensive experience, and its partnerships with global leaders in the field of power. Tanzania Electricity Supply Company awarded the project to Giza Systems with confidence that the best results will be achieved.

Giza Systems Participates in the Third East Africa Oil and Gas Summit and Exhibition, Nairobi Giza Systems participated at the Third East Africa Oil and Gas Summit
and Exhibition (EAOGS) in Nairobi. The exhibition took place from
the 15th through the 17th of October, and was held at the Kenyatta
International Convention Centre, Nairobi, Kenya.
East Africa Oil and Gas Summit and Exhibition is considered the most
prestigious annual oil and gas conference and exhibition in East Africa.
In its third year, EAOGS once again earned the official endorsement of
the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Kenya.
With recent developments in the region, the EAOGS was pivotal in
raising key issues and considerations tackling the need for critical
infrastructure to ensure that potential growth and investments materialize.
The major themes addressed included updates about latest explorations; strategies for directing revenues into sustainability
projects; attracting investment; crucial projects needed for development and infrastructure; and highlighting the role of service companies for ensuring infrastructure projects underway and priorities to serve the oil and gas boom.
"We were really thrilled to participate in the East Africa Oil and Gas
Summit and Exhibition, for the key themes addressed
in the sessions and the meetings with the various
prominent delegates," stated Ahmed Kamal, Chief Commercial

for oil and gas with the discoveries of reserves the past years, which

The Third East Africa Oil and Gas Summit 2014 welcomed over

EAOGS featured 36 speakers consisting of ministry officials,
senior executives and industry experts from NOCs, IOCs, financial
institutions, government authorities and embassies and service
companies.
The Conference agenda included a two day strategic conference as well as roundtable country focus sessions, where delegates engaged
directly with the countries of interest to them. Participating countries
were represented by Ministry and national oil company officials
who were best placed to brief delegates on the status of projects and opportunities available. Countries represented include Ethiopia,
Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia,
South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

He elaborated, "A smart meter records the consumption of electric
energy in intervals of an hour or less, so it puts an end to estimated
bills, which is the predominant source of complaints by customers.
Likewise, consumers are able to better manage their consumption due
to outside displays providing up-to-date consumption information. Moreover, the solution allows customers to check the history of their
old consumptions and readings for reference."
The benefits that can be gained from the deployment of smart meters
in Africa are not only confined to operators and consumers. They could
also potentially affect securing global investments in Africa for power
infrastructure. Traditionally, investors avoided the power infrastructure
in Africa due to the staggering amounts of unpaid bills that remain uncollected and losses incurred from power theft.
The adoption of smart meters essentially enables power companies to collect payments and/or disconnect consumers that are not paying
their bills, as well as detect electricity theft, thereby reducing losses.
This, in turn, allows for a return on investment, which would most
likely attract investors and provide them with the necessary impetus
to support power market ventures in Africa.
The implementation of this project promises to translate into higher operational efficiencies and cost-cutting measures, increased

Khalda Petroleum Company Awards Giza Systems Project for Dahshour Gas Plant DCS Replacement Khalda Petroleum Company awarded Giza Systems the project for
Dahshour Gas Plant Distributed Control Systems (DCS) replacement
last year. Utilizing Honeywell technology, the project has been recently
completed.
"With the completion of this project, Giza Systems reinforces its
position in the process control market, specifically in the oil and
gas industry, and continues to deploy its most advanced safety and
automation solutions," stated Yasser Al-Abaseery, General Manager
of Process Control Solutions Line of Business at Giza Systems. He
elaborated, "Khalda Petroleum Company is one of our strategic clients,
and we are delighted that they approached Giza Systems for what we can bring to the project in terms of the value of our technologies and experience."
By offering a state-of-the-art control system, the replacement of the old
existing system instead of upgrading it was determined to be the most
cost efficient and effective approach. A comprehensive analysis and
review were carried out to determine the requirements, specifications,
and systems capabilities to ensure that the requirements were met by the implementation of the new DCS.
Khalda Petroleum Company contracted Giza Systems to design,
commission and start-up the new DCS. The scope of work included the
complete analysis and understanding of the process control logic of the old system; reviewing plant control operations and specifications;
and implementing the new logic on the newly installed DCS. Giza Systems was also responsible for migration from the old system to the new system through hot cutover to minimize the required shutdown time.
Transitioning to the new DCS called for an innovative approach and sensitive balance to ensure compliance with requirements and safety,
while seamlessly performing a changeover to the new system without interrupting operations, also known as a hot cutover. The implemented
state-of-the-art new system results in the optimization of operations,
increased efficiency in monitoring and reporting, reduced maintenance
efforts, and minimal downtime of the plant operations.
By securing LPG production, which is used to supply houses with
gas, the project addresses a number of challenges including repeated
shutdown periods due to spare parts shortage, thus, enhancing
production periods and ensuring operational efficiencies.
Khalda Petroleum Company awarded Giza Systems the project for
their technologies, support services, and skilled personnel that can
assist them with streamlining their operations. Mohamed El Sawy, from
Gas Operations at Khalda Gas, states, "We are pleased to work with
Giza Systems on yet another vital project, thanks to the Companys
longstanding track record in plant automation, industry expertise and
competitive pricing."
On the other hand, Ahmed Salem, Maintenance Manager at Dahshour
gas plant thanked the team, expressing his satisfaction with the

With the set-up of the new DCS for Dahshour Gas Plant, the project

Honeywell and Giza Systems Work Hand in Hand on Maaden-Alcoa Joint Venture ProjectThe Maaden-Alcoa Joint Venture Project is another pinnacle of
Honeywell and Giza Systems fruitful partnership, as the partners
work steadily towards the completion of Maadens mine and alumina
refinery project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The alumina refinery
at Ras Al Khair is the first refinery ever to be constructed and operated
in the region, and the project is expected to be completed in the first
quarter of 2015.
The remarkable element of this project is its scale. The site will
be the most efficient vertically integrated aluminum complex in
the world. It will use Saudi Arabias bauxite
resources to profitably
produce aluminum for domestic and international markets,
as well as facilitate the development of domestic downstream industries in the Kingdom.

Implement Corrective Action Requests before commissioning starts (around 6,000 requests)
The Giza Systems team consisting of 17 engineers held key positions
on site activities - collaborated with expert engineers from all around
the globe, ardently working together on this massive project. Thanks to the exceptional teamwork and support, as well commitment and
dedication, many of the team members were recognized for their
contributions and outstanding performance. The teams shared and gained great technical and managerial experiences, in addition
to providing practical procedures and guidance on the control of different hazards at site.
As the project nears completion, the Saudi Arabian Mining Company
(Maaden) and lightweight metals leader Alcoa announced in
December that the alumina refinery at the complex had successfully
produced its first alumina from Saudi Arabian bauxite. The milestone
marks the commencement of the final link in the supply chain of this
fully integrated aluminum facility.
The completion of this project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sets another strategic milestone that enhances the companys ability
to increase intake of mega projects; expands its market segment

Company (GSEC), participated at the Third Arab Water Forum 2014,

VAS Integrated Solutions and EMC Exhibit at Cairo ICT, 2014 VAS Integrated Solutions (VIS), a Giza Systems company, and EMC2
shared a booth among leading industry players exhibiting at Cairo ICT
2014. Cairo ICT was held at the Cairo International Conference Center,
Nasr City from 4th - 7th November, 2014.
During the course of Cairo ICT, VIS and EMC2 held a press conference
and a partner re-launch event, where Giza Systems announced its
acquisition of VAS Integrated Solutions LLC (VIS), a key distributor for
EMC, the market leader in virtualization and big data.
VAS Integrated Solutions, previously a subsidiary of Bull Group, is
the leading storage distributor and integrator in the Egyptian market
and operates in cloud enablement and virtualization space in Egypt and Libya. Its customers include all major players in the Egyptian telecommunications sector and banking industry, in addition to having
a strong presence in the oil and gas sector.
The acquisition of VAS Integrated Solutions will expand Giza Systems
leadership in systems integration by synergizing its offerings portfolio
with VIS cloud-based integration and space virtualization services for
B2B enablement, optimization, and innovation.

Successful Collaboration with Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages As collaboration continues between Giza Systems and Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages, the corporate social
responsibility partners shared another successful initiative last year. On 29th November, 2014, Ghada Farouk, Giza Systems Foundation
Manager, assisted the Association at their workshop for the training
on effective resume writing.
"We believe that education is one the most effective investments
we can make, and by volunteering and mentoring orphans, we give
them a push forward, enabling them to take control of their future and
be prepared for the job market and professional life," stated Ghada
Farouk.
Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages recently
acquired the first accredited professional degree in the field of
child care from the global organization Edexcel, which will make
it the first association in the Middle East to have acquired this
prestigious certificate. The certificate was granted in recognition of
the Associations training program "Aman".
At the Dubai International Award for Best Practices to Improve the
Living Environment (DIABP) at its 10th cycle, the Association was
recognized as having one of the six best practices globally under the
category of National Quality Standards within Institutional Homes for
Children without Parental Care.
As part of the companys corporate social responsibility endeavors,
Giza Systems diligently supports Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages in their continuing efforts by supporting
participants of the "Forsa" program. The program is divided into
three phases throughout the year: self-discovery; development and capacity-building, which is achieved through practical training in on-
field projects or by conducting training in one of the various companies
or associations supporting the Association.
About Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages
In spite of the presence of many institutions for the care of orphans and children without family care, there is no unified concept of "care"
for children and young adults in these institutions in Egypt. There is a lack of guidelines on how to apply and improve and measure
the impact of these activities on the growth and development of the mental and physical health of orphans. This inspired the inauguration of Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages, the first
Egyptian NGO, registered since 2008 with the Ministry of Social
Solidarity. The association aims at developing and applying the quality of care standards within orphan care institutions, to be applied
at a national level through the executive bodies concerned, in order
to provide a safe environment that contributes to the empowerment of children, and their integration into the community to become
successful individuals that contribute to the construction of society. In June 2014 the Ministry of Social Solidarity has issued a ministerial decision of compulsory application of these standards. The goal is to create a future of equal opportunities for children without family care,
through the standardization of systems and standards within orphan institutions, and activate and adopt all aspects of care and services
that are offered to them.

Giza Systems, Silver Sponsor of World Robotics Olympiad, Egypt Finals Nile University, the academic sponsor of the World Robotics Olympiad,
together with Ideas Gym, hosted this years Egypt finals on the 27th of
September, 2014, under the patronage of the Minister of Education.
Eighty-five students competed in teams in this years final round, and
the winner was selected to represent Egypt in the international finals.
The World Robotics Olympiad is a global robotics competition for
students between the ages of 7 21, in which people from all over the
world participate to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills
through a challenging and educational robotics competition.
Giza Systems supported the event as a silver sponsor. During the symposium, the Companys volunteers conducted training sessions.
Ghada Farouk, GSF Manager, gave a session on job hunting and
resume writing skills for university students and graduates. Meanwhile,
Yasser Hamza from Giza Systems and Distribution (GSD) gave a
technical session on Automation and Robotics.
The Human Capital Development department at Giza Systems also
supported the event by offering the students valuable internship
opportunities at the company.
This years competition was exceptionally rich with students from
diverse backgrounds and varying ages and included participants from
Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada, Suez, Port Said, and Fayoum, making
this event the largest event in the field of robotics in Egypt.
Ideas Gym is the center responsible for the organization of the competition in Egypt, operating in conjunction with Nile University.
The competition was further sponsored by Al-Alfi Foundation for
human development; the program of research, development and
innovation at the Ministry of Scientific Research and funded by the
European Union, and it also included the participation and support of
National Instruments and Giza Systems.
A series of lectures and seminars was also held to benefit high school
and university students.
In last years international competition, Egypt came in fourth through
Nile Universitys team participation.
