Milton Doecke nominated David Schultz; Shaun Harris nominated Wayne Stoeckel; Con Zagotsis nominated Jim & Tania Wallace for membership. RAFFLE was organised. MINUTES OF THE LAST GENERAL MEETING from 4th July 2019 as printed in the Radiator and published on the website were taken as read and accepted. (Barry Mangelsdorf, Ian King) BUSINESS ARISING More photos 8" by 10" are needed for the photo board; include car model and owner details. The Bunnings BBQ on 13th July was very profitable. The treasurer's report was received and payments approved. (Graham Trezise, Bob Hodgson) Graham said that some people who indicated they would come to the Mt Mary Hotel for afternoon tea either didn't pay or didn't attend. This left President Warren with a short fall of $100 which the club reimbursed. Registrar: No report. Editor: The colour cover of the August Radiator was a donation from Joy Mules. Allan is seeking more profiles for the Radiator. Some dates were amended. Webmaster: Peter has added photos from the Presidents Run and Mid Year trip. Proposed date for this year's Patron's Run is 10th November. 3.Bay to Birdwood - enter soon- Classic cars this year. 4. As Joy Mules is moving to Adelaide, President Warren presented her with a certificate of appreciation. 5. President Warren spoke about a complaint made by a member of RVCCC to the Cobdogla Club about meal service on 4th July when they served 150 meals. The Cobdogla Club have been gracious in offering a $1 donation for every meal served to members. When you have a meal there as a RVCCC member, you represent this club. It is therefore not appropriate to complain about the service when the staff are doing their best to serve everyone efficiently. Guest Speakers: Tim Bennett shared information and photos from the April 2019 Capri Nationals held in Albury. He said there were cars from all around Australia and that it was great to meet people with similar interests and to join in runs around the area. Bill Brock spoke about volunteering at Farina , 55 km south of Marree along the Oodnadatta Track. The town is no longer inhabited, but a small group is restoring parts of Farina to reflect its past and ensure that it is retained in the history of Australia’s outback. About 200 volunteers come for an 8 week period. The raffle was drawn. Next meeting - Thursday 5th September 2019 at 7.30pm - Waikerie are hosts. Meeting closed at 9.15pm Ros Simpfendorfer Secretary

President’s Report Hello again members.

August is almost a blur. I know we all have 24 hours in a day but I wonder if the clock has been sped up. I haven't had a classic out since the Presidents run in July but I have been fortunate enough to see a great number of beautiful cars, bikes and trucks on our tour thru Victoria. Those guys don’t get their cars out because its too wet over there. We don’t get them out because of the dust and wind..

The Victorian trip with 8 other couples was a fantastic success. Stories will be told and retold of the things that we saw, places we went to and things that we did. Ask one of the group about the trip , you will not want to miss the next one.????????? ( Reports will follow in this and the next edition)

Now here’s a question to members !!!!!! How would you like to pay $300 /year membership fee to be in our club ? Outrageous you say . We met with a club that does just that and they have 180 members. and growing. Do you want to know what the rules are ? Ask me and I will be happy to explain. You will be pleasantly surprised.

With that thought spinning in your heads I will catch up with you at the next meeting. ENJOY THE DRIVE Warren

Joy receiving her certificate from Warren

President’s Run and Mid Year Run There were 27 cars present at the Presidents run. After leaving the club rooms our first stop was Lock 3 where we had morning tea. While we were there a boat came into the lock which was interesting for those who hadn't seen it working before. We then had a look at Lock 2 which is a bit different. Next stop was lunch on Lung’s private property by the river, then onto Morgan for a brief stop before going to Mount Mary for afternoon tea. Those going onto the Mid year run,18 cars in all, left for the Barossa Motor Lodge Motel in Tanunda. Arrived late afternoon and booked into the motel. Most of us dined at the dining room at the motel Friday night. Saturday morning we assembled at 9am for our visit to the Chocolate Factory. Too early to see much chocolate making, however samples were tried and a few members bought chocolates and ice creams. Some booked Chocolate and wine tours for Monday. Our next stop was Sultram Winery for morning tea, which was very much enjoyed by all. A visit to Menglers Hll lookout and sculpture park was the next stop. En route to our lunch some of us detoured ( via a dirt road) to a Lavender farm and shop, then it was onto the Lyndock bakery for lunch. After lunch we went to the Whispering Wall. From there it was back to the motel for happy hour and dinner at the motel. A good meal was enjoyed by all.Sunday morning saw another fine day after a shower of rain over night, although there was a cold wind chilling us all through. We had breakfast at the motel before leaving to visit Seppeltsfield winery for coffee via the mausoleum (which we all climbed up to even Ken and Rhyl with help from Dean, photo to prove it), then onto to the winery via the Avenue of palms. Our next stop was a BBQ lunch with the Barossa Car Club at the Greenock football oval. A great time to chat with the many members of the Barossa group and view their display of cars. The only ‘hicc-up’ that I know of was Ian Mason who had starter motor trouble and needed a push start or rolling hill start. Hope you made it home safely Ian.After lunch some members headed for home, others did their own thing. Again most of us went for dinner at the motel. We were very fortunate that the weather was so kind to us and we had sunshine all weekend.Thank you Kay and Ron from all of us for a great weekend and all the work you put into organising it.

A special thanks from Rhyl and Ken.

Hit’n’Miss Rally The Hit 'n' Miss Rally at Benson Park (Lowbank) was a great event, but the weather was cold and drizzly. On the good side people huddled together and enjoyed the coffee and the wonderful hot food. The RVCCC attendance showed several new vehicles and potential members . James Copeland showed his late fathers' WLA Harley motorcycle , in original condition. New member, David Schultz showed his late fathers' Honda S600 Coupe now fully restored (a real crowd pleaser) J. Mcfarlane showed his Holden EH Premier sedan.

Also Joe Hermanson - H G Holden Premier . It was a credit to those who organised a large event with a small committee and a lot of helpers.

Club ride 4 August Unlike last months ‘frozen ride’, Sunday turned out to be a motorcycle friendly day for which I’m grateful, as the older we get, the more we feel the cold! But hey! come on guys, get the lead out! and your bikes out of the shed, as the good weather is upon us! As the faithful few arrived we welcomed Ron Kohler back into our midst, enjoying his Honda CB 250 after a health scare which prev’ented his riding for a couple of years. Trevor and Rosalie Chapple on their 75 Goldwing led us out of Berri and through Winkie on many roads unknown to me, down to Loveday, exploring the main (only?) street and store. From there we crossed the Sturt Highway and enjoyed a clockwise lap of the lake, parking at our favourite coffee stop ‘The Lakes’ (photo of parched riders). After an enjoyable ‘chino and chat’ session we left Barmera and rode back to Berri and on home appreciating the fact that with temperatures finally in the high teens, riding is once again fun! Our next scheduled ride is on September 8th. Riders attending Trevor & Rosalie. Chapple 1975 Honda Goldwing Simon. Jackson. Modern Ron Kohler. “ Kev Heritage. “ Motorcycle Rallies It’s worth noting that the rally season is almost upon us and a bit of planning is always good with two events in October favourites of mine! Barossa Valley Classic Motorcycle Club Rally -Sunday 20 October. In its 35th year, this one day event is for all makes and models of bikes. We have made it a 2 day event for a number of years riding down on Saturday via Swan Reach to Nuriootpa, staying at the caravan park ready for the Sunday rally which starts and finishes at the same park. You can make it a 3 day event by riding home on the Monday. If you are new to Rallies, this is an excellent well organised event to start with. BSA National Rally: 25,26,27 October - The annual SA BSA club event is this year hosting the national event. These Rallies are very well organised and huge fun, with an amazing array of old bikes entered . While it is not essential to ride a BSA, the machine you enter must be British. This event is based at the Hahndorf Resort. For more rally info call me - 0417811291
