Chapter 1

The Audition

“Oh no I am sorry, but I must go” Zoey ended confidently. She heard a huge

mass of applause. Zoey couldn‟t help but beam. She had just said a few lines from

the script of the drama class play. This year they were doing Cinderella. She was

trying out for the main character obviously Cinderella. “Wonderful job Miss.

Skylers” Mrs. Disk, the drama teacher announced. “The cast list will be posted on

my website this afternoon. You all did a wonderful job”. Zoey exited off the stage

and came out of the stage door. “You were great”.‟ Zoey „s bestie Candace

exclaimed. “You are soooo going to land the lead role,”! Zoey “Really you think

so”? Zoey replied modestly even though she knew she was phenomenal during the

audition.

As they exited the auditorium Zoey said “Come on Candace lets head over to

my house maybe we can watch Tess Trace‟s new movie and check the cast list,

Ms. Disk said she would post it in 5 minutes. Come on lets go”.

Zoey quickly called her older sister Shellie to come pick her up. While they

waited for Shellie to come pick them up Zoey was entertaining Candace with

some new jokes she picked up from Andy, her older brother.

When Shellie finally pulled up in front of the school she found Zoey and

Candace rolling on the concrete in hysterics. Come on she said hurriedly I have a

huge test tomorrow and I have to study. Zoey and Candace peeled themselves off

the concrete and hopped into the back seat together. They both still had a smile on

their face.

Once they reached home they both flung their bags at the bottom of the stairs

and ran upstairs to Zoey‟s room and Zoey quickly logged onto her computer they

couldn‟t wait to see the cast lists posted on Mrs. Disk‟s website. When she finally

found the web page where the cast lists were posted Zoey took one look at it and

screamed. This is exactly what it looked like:

For the next 5 minutes all Zoey could do was gawk at the cast list and wonder if

she was really that good during the audition. “I told you would get the lead”

Candace squealed breaking the silence.

“I did it”!!! Zoey replied now shaken from her trance. “I did it uh-huh, uh-huh

yeah”!!! Zoey sang jumping on her bed and pumping her fists up in the air.

After a while Candace got bored of Zoey‟s constant peppiness so she turned on

the radio. 2 minutes later Zoey plopped on the bed and onto her beanbag chair.

When Tess Trace‟s new song came on both Candace and Zoey started singing

along you make me feel like Juliet, baaaabbbyyyyy…….

The music started fading at the end of the song and suddenly a loud voice filled

the speakers “Hey listeners that was just Tess Trace singing her new smash hit

single Juliet. Wasn‟t it a fun song? Speaking of fun, Tess Trace is making a

special trip to Phoenix, Arizona so if you just happen to be in town make sure you

say hello. We are wrapping up today‟s program and just remember this is your

fave D.J. Lotro and you are listenin‟ to radio fame 12.12 fm. Peace out Dawg”!!!

Lotro finished.

“Did you just hear what he said”? Zoey asked “Yeah he sa-” Candace started.

“He just said Tess Trace is going to be in Phoenix and we live in Phoenix, which

means Tess Trace is going to be touring in OUR town”!!!! Zoey screamed

interrupting Candace.

They both were so excited they started jumping and dancing around Zoey‟s

room like monkeys. Exactly 23 minutes later Candace and Zoey collapsed on the

floor in a fit of giggles.

They both decided to watch Tess Trace‟s new movie JoAnne on the Red

Carpet. It is about a girl named JoAnne Ringlow who becomes a movie sensation

by acting as one of the main characters best friends in a movie series.

About half an hour after the movie starts Zoey jumps up and says “if I want to

be cast in a movie ever I am going to need a résumé with a full description of

myself so I might as well start on it now” She quickly hurried to her laptop while

Candace gave her a puzzled look and returned to the movie. 45 minutes later

finished writing her résumé this is what it looks like:

Chapter 2 Dinner Discussion

“ZOEEYYYYY”. Zoey‟s mom calls “come downstairs it is dinnertime” she

finishes. Zoey thumps down the stairs two at a time and winds through her maze

of a house. Couldn‟t wait to tell her family about her auditions that afternoon. When she finally reaches the kitchen. Zoey quickly goes and washes her hands

in the sink and skips to the dining room. “Hello” Zoey said to her family of five,

six including her. Mom, Dad, Shellie the oldest and a freshman, Andy the second

oldest and an 8th Grader, Zoey in the middle and a 6

th grader, and Josh the

youngest and a 5th

grader.

Zoey quickly sat down in one of their families‟ royal oak chairs and began to

eat (stuff her face with food) “Pass the corn, please” Zoey mumbled her mouth full

of fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

“So how did the audition go”? Andy asked. Zoey waited until she had finished

what was in her mouth before she spoke. “Great in fact I managed to land the lead

role”!!!!! “No way” Josh said. “Only the cool people get the lead and you so aren‟t

cool” Josh finished. “Thanks” Zoey said sarcastically. “Oh honey I am so proud

of you”.‟ Zoey‟s mom said as she quickly nudged Zoey‟s dad. He suddenly jerked

his head up and looked at Zoey and said “Oh yeah I am so proud of you too” dad

said suddenly he dropped his voice to a whisper leaned in to‟ Zoey s moms ear and

asked “wait what am I supposed to be proud of” “Harry”;‟ Zoey s mom said

“weren‟t you listening when Zoey was talking about her day”? “Maybe” Harry

replied. “I heard that dad” Zoey said. “Well I am sorry” Harry said “But I guess I

got carried away” “Okay then! Can I please be excused”? Zoey politely asked “I

don‟t know can you” Shellie asked who was an absolute Language Arts geek

“Uhhhhhhhh! May I” Zoey asked frustrated with her big sisters dorkiness. “Yes

you may” Kendra,‟ Zoey s mom replied glaring at Shellie.

Zoey ran up the stairs two by two. She ran up to the bathroom to brush her

teeth. As she entered the bathroom she slipped and fell on her back.

She wasn‟t seriously injured (just a big bruise in the small of her back), But she

sure was mad. It was probably one of Josh‟s silly pranks. She quickly brushed her

teeth. Changed into her favorite lucky p.j.‟s. The ones with shirt straps made of

film strips and pants that pose a clapper. She grand jeté onto her bed and pulled her

white down comforter over her chest just below her neck and instantly fell asleep.

Chapter 3

Breakfast Surprise

“Rise and shine sweetie-pie” A duet of sweet melodic voices sang out they seemed

to belong to mom and dad. “Zoey, wake up”! A chorus of stubborn voices said.

They seemed to belong to Andy, Shellie, and Josh. Zoey rubbed her eyes as she

slowly rose up all she saw were a blur of smudged profiles. “huh”? mumbled Zoey

sleepily. “What time is it”? She asked as she tried to turn to her alarm clock to see

what time it was. Which resulted in her falling off her bed. “Ouch” she groaned

now fully awake. She scanned her room and saw her whole family. She slowly

rose to her feet curious to see what the commotion was all about.

“Congratulations, Congratulations, We are proud you got the lead, Now here is

some bacon and eggs to give you a breakfast feed” Zoey‟s family sang out.

3/5of them in a forced and embarrassed voice. And 2/5 of them with genuine

pride.

“We are” Dad started “so proud” Mom continued “of you” Shellie added “for

getting the” Andy stated “lead in the” Josh ended “school play” Her whole family

said in unison.

“Thank you guys” Zoey beamed ,absolutely flattered. “You guys are the best”

Zoey continued. “ I will get ready before I eat my breakfast thank you so much”

Zoey finished.

“Blah, blah, blah” Zoey‟s geography teacher droned on. Zoey was literally

bouncing on her seat like it was a trampoline. Zoey kept her ears peeled for the

sound of the bell .She couldn‟t wait for 3rd

period because Ms. Disk had e-mailed

her saying that there was a surprise announcement for them .

Trrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiinnnngggggg!!!!The bell sounded interrupting Mrs. Royale

talking about Africa‟s borders.

“Yes”! Zoey cried pumping her fist up in the air. She quickly speed-walked to

theatre class. As she plopped into her seat her drama teacher started talking

“Okay today I would like to congratulate for Zoey Skylers getting the lead in

our school play Cinderella. Good job Zoey. Also I would like to tell you guys that

I have a very special announcement that I would like to tell you guys. Are you

ready? Okay drum-roll please. On Thursday which is two days away. We will

have a special visitor oh only by the name of…..Tess Trace and she will see who

the best actor or actress is. And she will take them on a field trip back to

Hollywood for a month. That month does not count as an absence so you will not

have to make up any homework. The chosen actor or actress will get to take one

and only one buddy with them on the trip and that buddy who is chosen does not I

repeat does not have to be from this class. I know you guys are excited, but there

is one disadvantage of going to Hollywood with Tess Trace. Are you guys ready

for the bad news? Okay! If you are chosen you will have to miss the play that

means you won‟t be able to participate in it”

As soon as Ms. Disk finished saying her speech Mandie the know-it-all shot

her hand up in the air and said “Ms. Disk, um so suppose Tess Trace picks me

which I am sure she will you please change the date for the play because I know I

am your favorite student. No I will not I am a very fair teacher and the rules are

rules. Not let‟s decorate my room so it will look festive when Tess comes. I hope

all of you brought your permission slip signed so if you get picked your parents

have approved. Go ask Mrs. Artie, the art teacher for the art supplies tell her we

need banner paper. Okay let‟s get decorating.

Chapter 4

The Chosen One

“Okay guys I will call out Tess Trace and her bodyguards in a moment as soon

as you settle down and take a seat. Are you all situated? Okay come on out Tess,

darling”.

As soon as the words left Ms. Disk‟s mouth a beautiful girl entered the room.

She had golden-blonde medium length hair, light peach skin, striking blue eyes, a

petite nose, baby pink cheeks, sparkly glossed lips, and teeth so white and

perfectly straight you could compare it to paper.

“Hi” Tess said brightly “As you know I am here to take one of you and your

best buddy with me to Hollywood”

“Thanks Tess okay so if you want to be the chosen one to go to L.A. with Tess

you have to show her what you‟ve got. So I want all of you to take her to my

director‟s chair and then I want you to do a scene from any movie you may get in

groups if the scene requires more than one person.

“The results are in and the lucky kid is MA-”Ms. Disk was cut off by Mandie‟s

excited and hyper squeals “I DID IT I WON I WON UH-HUH I AM GOING TO

HOLLYWOOD YAY YAAY YAY YAY YAY”!!!

“Enough that‟s it no I am sorry Mandie but you didn‟t win this time this time

the winner is Zoey Skylers” Mrs.Disk continued after her rude interruption from

Mandie.

After hearing that both Mandie‟s and Zoey ‟s jaw dropped Zoey tried to say

something but all that came out of her mouth was “sklgrjlskdhhkgj” she tried

again “bsfjjjmkhihk” and she tried for the last time “msdghrjbndrj” Nope she

thought. It was going to take a while for her vocal cords to work again after that

shock.

Chapter 5

Something Like a Rock-Stars life “Bye sweetie have fun” both Zoey‟s and Candace‟s mom yelled at the same

time as Zoey and Candace stepped into the limo. “With all the bodyguards we

have nothing to worry about” Zoey heard her mom whisper to Mrs.

“We will” Zoey and Candace yelled back. They tried to look mature in front of

their moms so they wouldn‟t change their mind about letting them go to

Hollywood with Tess Trace and her annoying bodyguards , but inside they were

jittery from all the excitement . I mean who wouldn‟t be if they were going to

Hollywood with the most famous teenager in the world.

When they were comfy and on the road Tess showed Zoey and Candace a list

that said :

As Tess was explaining what was on the list Zoey started to doze off and she

had an awesome dream this is how it went…

… Zoey was wearing denim faded overalls and she was surrounded by cameras

“CUT”A booming voice yelled from somewhere in front of her “and that’s a wrap

great job Zoey” the booming voice continued “keep this up. You are doing great

for an amateur and first time actress”… “Zoey, Zoey, Zoey” she heard in the

distance “Wake-up we are at the hangar” “Zoey! Wake up”!!!!!

“Huh” Zoey said. “We are at the private jet hangar” Candace said. “Lets go

Tess is already in the jet and is comfying up her seat.

“Lets go” Candace yelled as the jet turned on “They might leave without us”

She pulled Zoey out of the limo and dragged her to the jet……

Chapter 6

Private Jet

“Yes we made it” Candace triumphed a Zoey and Candace jumped into the jet

just as it took off.

It took them a few minutes to settle down “Okay Tess and friends”…. “And

bodyguards” a grumpy voice (most likely a bodyguard) from behind Tess said.

“and bodyguards” the pilot continued starting to get irritated “we will reach there

in about an hour give or take so sit back, relax, help yourself to those delish

chocolate strawberries, and enjoy the ride. By the way message to the bodyguards

LAY OFF”!!!!! Thank you and have a nice trip”.

Candace and t Zoey ook one look at each other and then raced to the chocolate

strawberries.

When they finally came back to the seat Candace gave each of them
