Disclaimer
La General Availability (GA) di vSphere 6.0 NON c’è ancora
Tutto è basato sulla Release Candidate (RC)!
Qualcosa potrebbe cambiare nella GA!
Alcune parti saranno riprese e/o approfondite negli interventi del
pomeriggio

The Software-Defined Data Center Approach
Hybrid Cloud
Compute Networking Storage
Management
Ideal architecture for the hybrid
cloud
• All infrastructure services
virtualized: compute,
networking, storage
• Control of data center
automated by software
(management, security)
• Unified platform for
existing and new apps,
delivered to many devices

vCenter / SSO / Client
Due componenti distinte:
Platform Services (ex SSO)
Management Services (tutto il resto)
vCenter Platform Server Controller (PCS) include:
SSO, License Server, Lookup Service, CA, Certificate Store
vCenter Appliance:
DB vPostgres fino a 1000 hosts e 10000 VM
vCenter Server in Windows:
DB embedded vPostgres ma con quali limiti?
5 host e 50 VM oppure 20 host e 200 VM?
Webclient come avrebbe dovuto essere sin dall’origine, semplice e
veloce !!!

Le occasioni mancate?!
Giusto cambiare dalla RC alla GA?!
Alcune «promesse» sono state «disattese»
Client Web unico
• vSphere Client molto limitato
Client Web completo?
• Datastore browser
• Console plugin
VUM
Virtual Datacenter «nativi» e vCloud Director
Flash cache rimasta read only
(Manca il supporto a SMB3)

VMware vSphere 6 – Perché sì e perché no
Perché sì
• vSphere 5 fino ad agosto 2016
(End of General Support)
• E’ nuovo e bisogna provarlo
• HCL nuova
• VDPA è incluso dalla versione
Essential+
• W i Virtual Volumes
• FT-SMP
• Con il nuovo vMotion sposto le VM
dove voglio
• Nuovo vCSA
• Nuovo client Web
• VM Monster
Perché no
• vSphere 5.5 ha un supporto esteso
fino a settembre 2018
• Le novità sono prevalentemente
nella Enterprise+
• HCL nuova
• Gli altri programmi di backup
richiederanno un po’ di tempo
• Alcuni storage sono pronti, altri no
• Valutare i requisiti
• Non ancora su vCloud Air … e
comunque serve la banda
• Può gestire anche ESXi 5.x
• Nuovi client non Web
• Risorse Monster
