Once we got settled and learned our way around town, the library was one of the first places we sought out and explored. We fell in love with it and have been weekly (almost daily) visitors and loyal ad- vocates of all the library offers. In my free time, when I'm not enjoying the things borrowed from the library, or attending one of the many great events and pro- grams it hosts, I write and make art of all kinds. I val- ue time spent with family and friends — especially if it involves delicious food, movies and games or just good conversation and laughter. I am honored to be a second term member of the Middleton Public Li- brary Board of Trustees. December 2015 marks the 5th anniversary of Middleton Public Library’s first public art installa- tion of the origami mural Dimensions. Since that time, the library has hosted art classes for all ag- es, including a Community Canvases art project in 2014. To celebrate, the library will be hosting monthly origami workshops led by world re- nowned artist Ruthanne Bessman. Visit www.midlibrary.org/events for dates and times. The front entry exhibit case will feature this year’s winning submissions from OrigamiUSA entitled "Origami by Children" featuring the work of over two dozen artists ages 5-18. The exhibit will be on display starting December 1st. Photos by Mary Gordon | OrigamiUSA MJCSBSZ DPNNPOT TQBDF As the library’s upper level was being re- carpeted in October, we identified an area which was adaptable to create a library commons space. The purpose being to provide a place for groups of all ages to connect, discover and learn.

And Justice for All: a Community Panel Discussion was held on October 12th by a collaboration with the UW Go Big Read selection Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Panelists were Middleton’s Chief of Po-lice Chuck Foulke, Dane County Sherriff Dave Ma-honey, Urban League of Greater Madison DEO Dr. Reuben Anthony, Dane County Judge Josann Reyn-olds, and MCPASD Director of Equity and Student Achievement Percy Brown and garnered some meaningful audience participation from the stand-ing room only crowd. The discussion centered on themes from the book related to racial disparity in the criminal justice and equality versus equity.
