3UNIQUE BANKING OPPORTUNITIES AT FHSStudies have shown that saving money is a behavior that comes from experience, not necessarily knowledge. Many young adults with good financial habits started saving at an early age.

The sooner people take control of their finances, the better off they are in the long run. Fairfield High School’s Student Credit Union (in partnership with AurGroup Financial Credit Union) provides an excellent & convenient opportunity for students to learn how to manage their own money.

What is a credit union? Credit unions are similar to banks, in they offer a variety of secure financial products and services; however, there is one key difference. A bank’s main goal is to make money for its investors, whereas a credit union’s main goal (as a not-for profit institution) is to serve its members.

The FHS student credit union is primarily designed to help students advance their knowledge of banking products and services, and work with them to develop smart habits for managing their money. Operated by students in the Business Foundations Class, the FHS Student Credit Union provides deposit and withdrawal services to all its’ students and faculty.

Savings accounts can be opened with an initial $5.00 deposit and all deposits earn monthly dividends. No fee checking accounts and ATM/Check Cards are also available to students’ ages 16+ with a qualifying parent co-signer. The student credit union is open in the FHS cafeteria on Wednesdays and Fridays during all lunch periods. There is also an ATM located in the arena lobby which can be used any time of day.

All students and staff members are encouraged to take advantage of these great benefits!

Your diploma says Miami University. Your degree says you made a wise choice.

INTERVENTION SPECIALISTS WORKING HARD!The Intervention Specialists have been hard at work since the beginning of the school year administering skill, achievement and MAP assessments to all students on IEPs. These results will enable all teachers to define areas of need and assist with accommodations and modifications. It is our goal to have students tested three times per year in order to help the teachers understand student IEP goals.

Thank you to those who have ensured that all students are receiving their accommodations and modifying their work to the best of their abilities and a special shout out to the Intervention Specialist who took the time and energy to ensure the MAP testing was done in the amount of time given.

SENIORS AND SCHOLARSHIPSThe college application season has begun! Seniors are reminded to log on to their Naviance page every couple of weeks to see all of the new scholarship opportunities. Naviance is updated daily and will list all scholarship opportunities that come to the high school. Seniors are also reminded to check their social media sites to make sure there is no unflattering information attached to their name. College admissions offices and scholarship granting organizations do check social media at times to get a better view of their candidates.
