Transcript of November Newsletter
A word from your Bulletin Editor:
Why hello there! What a happy month of November!
The cold is finally here, but that doesn’t freeze up our spirit
does it?! Fall Rally came this month, it was an amazing
experience don’t you agree? We saw a lot of our members
break out of their shells and interact with other Key Clubbers!
We saw a lot of progress being made, not only within our
club, but also along the lines of Cali-Nev-Ha! Key Club has
been inspiring a lot of people from John Marshall to be more
involved and to no surprise, a lot of our members have been
willing to dedicate their time and effort to help serve the
community. Isn’t that what Key Club is all about though?
Serving your community, having fun is just a bonus that we
make ourselves!
To put it all together November went by quickly;
however, it felt like as if things just happened yesterday, Fall
Rally, some of our service events, and even our social that
we hosted to get our club closer before Fall Rally! It worked
wonders – if I may add. It’s the season of giving, let’s make
like busy Bees and swimming Sharkeys and go out there and
help our community! Let’s make someone’s day! Heck, let’s
put a smile on someones face every day; let’s share our Key
Club spirit to everyone around!
With Sharkey pride,
Erick Jason Reyno

No doubt in mind, I believe Fall Rally was the most memorable event in 2011 by far. It was my first event ever in Key Club and I am really grateful to spend it with my fellow Key Clubbers. I never expected Fall Rally to be this fun. It was so amazing as i got to ride roller coasters, meet new people, and going all out at my first Spirit rally! The feeling of being around so many divisions cheering their heart out was unbelievable, I don't think I'll ever forget that moment. I was sad when it was finally time to leave. But in the end, all that mattered was that i had great time with friends and my D3 Sharkey brothers, Leang Ngoy and Johnny Lim

This was my first time going to a Fall Rally and I am confident in saying that it was a great experience although admittedly, in hind sight I was reluctant to go because I thought it wouldn't be worth it. However, I proved myself all throughout the day. I'm not sure what it was, whether it was the funnel cake, my excessive headaches from the rides, or perhaps all the cuties from other divisions giving free hugs, but I felt even more proud of being a Key Clubber, and more importantly, D3 Sharkey. It doesn't stop there though. The spirit session was the best part of Fall Rally. For some of us, it didn't even matter that we didn't win anymore since we were having way too much fun already. I am satisfied with the fact that WE have spirit (yes we do), and THAT same spirit will win us the Spirit Stick next year. Let's sum it all up. I paid $45 dollars for a Six Flags ticket, the bus ride, the thunderstix, the D3 shirt, and not to mention, the unforgettable memories with my Division 3 Sharkeys.

John Marshall Key Club
would like to honor Erik Gerard
Guzman as “Member of the
Month” for November. Erik is a
dedicated member of our club
and definitely shows his spirit
through the amount of time he
spends volunteering and helping
out. During meetings, he always
lends a helping hand towards the
board members and keeps the
members’ spirits high. During Fall
Rally, Erik went all out and showed
his Key Club spirit! He even helped
the Vice President look for certain
members who were late to the bus.
His generosity and enthusiasm is
what makes him a perfect
example of a Key Club member
and most definitely a Sharkey. We
are so proud to have Erik in our
club because he inspires not only
his fellow members, but the
cabinet as well.

John Marshall Key Club awards Lauren Umaguing, our club secretary, with the position of “Officer of the Month” for the month of November. Without Lauren and her excellent records, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are today. She is a hard-working and competent secretary, fulfilling her duties efficiently. Not only does she take care of her responsibilities as secretary, but she goes out of her way to help out in other ways as well. Lauren provides help to our members and does all she can to spread the Key Club spirit! She maintains close relations with the core board as well as the members to create a friendly atmosphere in our club. Lauren likes to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and ACTS Thrift store, embracing the essence of Key Club- helping others! She serves as an inspiration to the board with her driven nature and provides motivation to our members to engage in activities. On top of balancing school and college applications as she is a Senior, she manages to stay on top of all secretary work. We are honored to have Lauren Umaguing as our club secretary!
